Nakilat net profit rises 9% to QR236m for first quarter

DOHA: Nakilat reported a net profit of QR236m for the first quarter of this year ended March 31, 2019, up 9 percent compared to QR217m for the corresponding period in 2018 as a result of operational expansion and efficiency.

This increase in profits was mainly attributed to the acquisitions of two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers and one Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in 2018, and higher volume of projects at Nakilat’s ship repair facility. The achievement of positive results across its operations was also attributed to the rationalisation of operational expenses and enhanced operational efficiency.

Nakilat successfully deployed the company’s strategic plans towards maintaining its global leadership in LNG transportation and the integral role it plays in Qatar’s LNG supply chain. The company has managed to grow its international portfolio through the recent expansion with Maran Gas Ventures Inc. to include four additional LNG carriers, demonstrating the enhanced operational efficiency and financial strength of the company. With 4 LNG vessels under the new JV, the number of Nakilat’s vessels has increased to 74, accounting for approximately 11.5 percent of the global LNG fleet in carrying capacity.

Nakilat continues to support development of local enterprises in a bid to strengthen local supply chain within the energy and maritime industry. During Qatar Petroleum’s Localization Program for Services and Industries in the Energy Sector “TAWTEEN”, which was held on February 18, 2019, Nakilat signed an agreement with McDermott to form a joint-venture (JV) company providing offshore and onshore fabrication services in Qatar. This project will provide a range of new services that will support Nakilat and its joint ventures to undertake the construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of offshore and onshore structures, and all types of vessels.

Nakilat’s Board of Directors commended the company’s solid financial results and operational performance, which bears testament to its resilience and prudent strategic efforts towards maintaining its leadership in the global energy transportation market, as well as supporting Qatar’s ambition to be the top exporter of LNG. Complemented by strategic long-term agreements with well-established charterers and its own determination to operate sustainably, Nakilat has managed to maintain steady cashflow and generate positive value for its shareholders. The Board also noted the company’s continued excellence in health, safety and environmental management, with a higher benchmarked average safety record compared to other companies operating in the same industry. Nakilat’s commitment to cybersecurity compliance was also highlighted as the company takes necessary measures to ensure the reliability of its operations and business continuity.

حققت شركة قطر لنقل الغاز المحدودة (ناقلات)، صافي ربح قدره 236 مليون ريال خلال الربع الأول من العام الحالي، بنمو قدره 9% مقارنة بالفترة ذاتها من السنة الماضية.

استحواذ

وﻳﻌﻜﺲ سبب هذا الأداء اﻟﻘﻮي اﻟﺬي أﺣﺮزﺗﻪ اﻟﺸﺮﻛﺔ، الاستحواذ على حصة في سفينتين جديدتين لنقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال، وكذلك الاستحواذ على حصة في وحدة عائمة لتخزين وإعادة الغاز المسال لحالته الطبيعية (FSRU) وإضافتها لأسطول الشركة، ورفع نسبة الكفاءة التشغيلية وترشيد المصروفات الإدارية والعمومية. لقد ساهمت هذه الإضافات الجديدة والإجراءات في تطور الأداء التشغيلي، مما انعكس مردوده المباشر على مؤشرات الأداء المالي بتحقيق إيرادات مالية متميزة.

مكانة عالمية

لتعزيز مكانتها العالمية في سوق نقل الطاقة النظيفة الذي يشهد زيادة في الطلب، قامت شركة «ناقلات» بتوقيع اتفاقية لتأسيس شركة مشتركة بين «ناقلات» و»ماران» اليونانية لتملّك 4 سفن جديدة لنقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال، مما يدل على القدرة التشغيلية والتسويقية المكتسبة ومتانة الوضع المالي لـ «ناقلات» والخطط الاستراتيجية المتبعة في اغتنام الفرص لمواصلة تحقيق النمو في أعمال التشغيل، بالإضافة إلى الحفاظ على موقع دولة قطر الرائد في السوق العالمي لنقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال.

الأسطول

بإضافة تلك السفن الأربعة، سيزيد عدد أسطول سفن «ناقلات» إلى 74 سفينة. وتشكل القدرة الاستيعابية الحالية لسفن نقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال التابعة لـ «ناقلات» تقريباً 11.5% من إجمالي القدرة العالمية لنقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال، وتطمح الشركة إلى زيادة حصتها في السوق العالمية في المستقبل.

توطين

وتسعى شركة ناقلات إلى تعزيز توطين سلسلة الإمداد والحفاظ على القيمة الاقتصادية داخل دولة قطر من خلال تأسيس مشروع مشترك مع شركة «ماكديرموت»، والتي تم الإعلان عنها خلال تدشين برنامج «توطين» في 18 فبراير 2019. وسيطرح المشروع مجموعة من الخدمات الجديدة، والتي ستساهم في مساعدة الطلب على توفير خدمات التصنيع والصيانة والإصلاح والتجديد الكامل للهياكل البحرية والبرية لمشاريع الطاقة، وسفن المساندة البحرية والسفن التجارية، ومنها سفن نقل الغاز الطبيعي المسال، بجانب السفن الأخرى بأنواعها وأحجامها المختلفة.

إشادة

وفي هذه المناسبة، أشاد مجلس إدارة الشركة بهذه النتائج المستقرة التي تعكس متانة الوضع المالي لـ «ناقلات» والخطة الاستراتيجية للشركة. كما أكد مجلس الإدارة أن «ناقلات» في وضع مالي مستقر، والذي يرجع بصفة أساسية إلى استقرار التدفقات النقدية وارتباط الشركة بعقود طويلة الأجل مع مستأجرين ذوي ملاءة مالية قوية. كما حققت الشركة في مجال السلامة والصحة والبيئة أداء متميزاً مقارنة مع الشركات العاملة في النقل البحري. بالإضافة إلى الالتزام التام للشركة بالأمن السيبراني واتخاذ جميع الإجراءات الحديثة لضمان استمرارية أعمال التشغيل.
