MENA Dojo’s third edition under way in Kuwait
النسخة الثالثة من «مينا دوجو» تبدأ في الكويت
Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), part of Qatar Foundation Research, Development, and Innovation (QF RDI) – in partnership with global venture capital firm 500 Startups, launched the third edition of the MENA Dojo Series A Program in Kuwait recently. This edition sees the participation of 14 of the most promising technology startups from across the MENA region, including two from Qatar.
MENA Dojo is a regional spin-off of the internationally-coveted 500 Startups Series A Accelerator Program.
Technology startups participating in this program must have previously raised funding from other investors, and are now preparing to scale-up and raise their Series A round – a startup’s first significant round of venture capital funding that enables its rapid growth and development.
Over the course of the program, the startups will be provided with intensive, one-on-one training and mentorship in developing a mindset for accelerated growth.
The two Qatari-founded startups participating this year are ADGS and MaktApp. ADGS sells a suite of products that use artificial intelligence (AI), behavioural biometrics, and emergent behaviour. Founded by Hassan Al Ansari, President, Christophe Billiottet, CEO; and Nahuel Gonzalez, CTO, the startup is a recipient of QSTP’s Product Development Fund, which is dedicated to funding SMEs and startups that develop products and services relevant to local market needs.
Yosouf Abdulrahman Saleh, Executive Director of QSTP, said,“QSTP’s ongoing partnership with 500 Startups has placed regional technology development on the global map. Our joint hosting of the MENA Dojo enables QSTP to promote Qatar’s techpreneurs on the regional stage, and provides 500 Startups with the opportunity to identify and help realise the region’s startup potential.
Over the course of the five-week program, which will run until May 1, participating startups will be trained on how to grow their businesses through different methodologies, including customer acquisition, growth-hacking, distribution, referral marketing and re-targeting, content marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO), user experience (UX) and conversion optimisation, as well as pitching to investors.

On May 1, all participating startups will pitch their businesses and growth models to a global audience of industry leaders and potential investors in the hope of securing significant later-stage funding to fuel their growth ambitions. This ‘Investor Day’ will mark the culmination of this year’s comprehensive accelerator program.
استهلت واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، عضو قطاع البحوث والتطوير والابتكار في مؤسسة قطر، بالشراكة مع صندوق 500 ستارت أبس للرأسمال المجازف، أعمال النسخة الثالثة من برنامج مينا دوجو المرحلة «أ» في الكويت.
وتشهد هذه النسخة مشاركة 14 شركة ناشئة من منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، بينها شركتان قطريتان.
ويُعد «مينا دوجو» نسخة إقليمية عن برنامج تسريع تطوير الشركات الناشئة لصندوق «500 ستارت أبس». ويتوجب على الشركات التكنولوجية الناشئة المشاركة في هذا البرنامج أن تكون قد حصلت على تمويل في السابق من مستثمرين آخرين، وباتت مستعدة الآن لتوسيع أعمالها والوصول إلى مرحلة التمويل «أ» الأساسية، التي تسهل نموها وتطورها.
والشركتان القطريتان المشاركتان هذا العام هما إعجاز (ADGS) وشركة «مكتب».
وتكرّس الشركة الأولى أعمالها للبحوث والتطوير في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي ومعايير القياس السلوكية والسلوكيات الناشئة، وقد أسسها حسن الأنصاري، رئيس الشركة في قطر، وكريستوف بيليوتيه الرئيس التنفيذي في فرنسا، وناهويل غونزاليز رئيس التكنولوجيا الأول في الأرجنتين.
وحصلت هذه الشركة الناشئة على منحة من صندوق تمويل تطوير المنتجات في واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، المُخصص لتمويل الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة التي تطور منتجات وخدمات ذات صلة باحتياجات السوق المحلي.
أما شركة «مكتب»، فقد أسسها صالح المنصوري الرئيس التنفيذي، ووليد العبادي رئيس التكنولوجيا الأول، وهما كانا العقل المفكر وراء إنشاء «فاتورة»، وهي منصة فوترة تعتمد على الذكاء الاصطناعي، وتسهّل عملية تسديد الفواتير ما بين التجار والمستهلكين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا.
وفي هذا الصدد، علّق السيد يوسف عبدالرحمن صالح، المدير التنفيذي لواحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، وهي عضو في قطاع البحوث والتطوير والابتكار بمؤسسة قطر: «لقد تمكنت شراكة واحة قطر المستمرة مع صندوق 500 ستارت أبس من وضع التطور التكنولوجي الإقليمي على الخارطة العالمية. وتُمكّن استضافتنا المشتركة لبرنامج مينا دوجو واحة قطر من الترويج لرواد الأعمال التكنولوجية في قطر على الساحة الإقليمية، وتوفير الفرصة لصندوق 500 ستارت أبس لتحديد قدرات الشركات الناشئة في الإقليم ومساعدتها على تحقيق طموحاتها».
من جهته، قال الدكتور ريتشارد أوكيندي نائب رئيس البحوث والتطوير والابتكار في مؤسسة قطر: «إن بيئة الابتكار المزدهرة في قطر يحفزها أشخاص مفعمون بالحماس لفكرة تطويع التكنولوجيا، من أجل تطوير حلول تلبي الاحتياجات المحلية والإقليمية. ويوفر «مينا دوجو» منصة صلبة لرواد الأعمال لصقل أفكارهم برعاية خبراء الصناعة، وإطلاق القدرات الكامنة لأعمالهم، لإحداث تأثير إيجابي في قطر والعالم».
