HBKU students honoured for community empowerment
جامعة حمد تكرّم طلابها الفائزين بجوائز الحياة الطلابية
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Student Affairs held the inaugural Student Life Awards 2019 to honour current students for their contributions to the wider community through non-academic activities, yesterday.
HBKU’s Student Affairs committee received and assessed more than 30 nominations based on solid criteria, including participation and involvement in the university’s informal learning environment – community service, community engagement, student leadership, and sports and non-sports competitions.
Maryam Al Mannai, Vice-President of HBKU student affairs, said: “It is a core responsibility of Students Affairs Department at HBKU to support students on their academic and nonacademic journey. The launch of the Student Life Awards provides an opportunity to honour and celebrate HBKU students who are achieving incredible things outside of the classroom, and giving back to the community locally and internationally. We are proud of our students and their well deserving accomplishments.”
“HBKU is committed to nurturing responsible global citizens who will go on to shape the world for the better. The awards encourage our students to be well-rounded individuals who are driven to be of service to their peers and the wider community.”
The Community Engagement Award, which recognises an individual or a group for projects that promote campus vibrancy, community bonding, social integration, and or education outreach, was awarded to Mohammad El Haj and Mehzabeen Mannan from the College of Science and Engineering and Ghuroor Ahmad from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Leadership Award went to Zinnira Shaikh, Alina Zaman and Mohammad Alazemi at the College of Islamic Studies, as well as Mohammad Al Sooj from the College of Science and Engineering.
Munira Aden and Dalal Al Sharshani from the College of Health and Life Sciences secured the Competitions Award, alongside Salman Haider and Yuhan Satapo from the College of Islamic Studies, Mohammad Khader from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Samar Elkhalifa from the College of Science and Engineering. The award is granted to students who have represented HBKU on a national, regional or international level in various competitions.
Finally, Ahmed Sodiq from the College of Science and Engineering won the Sports Award, which recognises an individual who has demonstrated high performance and achievement in sports-related initiatives.
وقالت مريم المناعي نائب رئيس جامعة حمد بن خليفة لشؤون الطلاب: «إن مسؤولية دعم الطلاب في رحلتهم الأكاديمية وغير الأكاديمية هي مسؤولية أساسية في إدارة شؤون الطلاب بجامعة حمد بن خليفة. ويتيح إطلاق جوائز الحياة الطلابية فرصة لتكريم طلاب جامعة حمد بن خليفة الذين يحققون إنجازات رائعة خارج القاعات الدراسية، ويردون الجميل للمجتمع على الصعيدين المحلي والدولي. نحن فخورون بطلابنا وإنجازاتهم المستحقة عن جدارة». وأضافت: «تلتزم جامعة حمد بن خليفة برعاية وتأهيل مواطنين عالميين مسؤولين سيواصلون مسيرتهم لبناء العالم وتحويله إلى مكان أفضل. وتشجع الجوائز طلابنا على أن يصبحوا أفراداً مطلعين ومتمرسين يحركهم الدافع لخدمة أقرانهم والمجتمع على نطاق أوسع». ومنحت جائزة المشاركة المجتمعية، التي تكرم أحد الأفراد أو المجموعات عن المشاريع التي تعزز من حيوية الحرم الجامعي، أو الروابط المجتمعية، أو التكامل الاجتماعي، أو التوعية التعليمية، أو جميع تلك العناصر، لمحمد الحاج ومهزابين منان من كلية العلوم والهندسة، وغرور أحمد من كلية العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية. وذهبت جائزة القيادة إلى زنيرة شيخ، وألينا زمان، ومحمد العازمي من كلية الدراسات الإسلامية، ومحمد الصوج من كلية العلوم والهندسة. وتكرّم هذه الفئة الطلاب الذين أظهروا قدرات قيادية مثالية وفعالة في أحد الفرق، أو المجتمع، أو أحد المشاريع، أو إحدى المنظمات الطلابية. وحصلت دلال الشرشاني ومنيرة عدن من كلية العلوم الصحية والحيوية على جائزة المنافسات، برفقة سلمان حيدر ويوهان ساتابو من كلية الدراسات الإسلامية، ومحمد خضر من كلية العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية، وسمر الخليفة من كلية العلوم والهندسة. وتكرم الجائزة الطلاب الذين مثلوا الجامعة في المنافسات المختلفة على الصعيد المحلي أو الإقليمي أو الدولي. وأخيراً، فاز أحمد صديق من كلية العلوم والهندسة بالجائزة الرياضية، التي تكرم أحد الأفراد الذين أظهروا أداء فائقاً وحققوا إنجازات في الأنشطة المرتبطة بالرياضة.
