Al Ruwais Port offers new free storage period

Mwani Qatar has started introducing the new free storage period at Al Ruwais Port from April 14. The move comes within the framework of supporting the private sector, offering new incentives to customers as well as enhancing the role of the port, which is Qatar’s northern gateway to trade and one of the most important ports to meet the increasing needs of the domestic market of foodstuff, meat and fresh and chilled produce.

Under the new increase, the company’s customers will get double the previously free storage days at Al Ruwais Port for general cargo shipments (export and import) as it increased to six days instead of three days for imported cargo and 10 days instead of five days for exported cargo. Containers’ free period has become five days instead of three days for imported containers and seven days instead of five days for exported containers.

The increase of free storage period in Al Ruwais Port comes in conjunction with the start of operations in the second phase of the port, during which around 160,000 square metres of storage space was added to support the port operations, contributing to achieving the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ strategic plan aimed at building stable and strong supply chain that meet the needs of the local market and provide the necessary support for development boom and the state projects, especially in the northern region.

Thanks to the extensive development, Al Ruwais Port was able to achieve significant growth in trade, import and export operations. It is experiencing steady growth in volumes of handling, particularly for livestock, foodstuffs and other cargo.

The port has achieved record performance in 2018, receiving up to 2,848 small and medium vessels with a growth of 35 percent over 2017. It handled 119,774 tonnes of general cargo; up 30 percent from 2017 and 548,967 heads of livestock with 118 percent increase.

This in addition to 324,248 tonnes of aggregate and up to 25,000 containers and about 2700 vehicles with growth of 73 percent and 283 percent, respectively.

Development at Al Ruwais Port began in 2014. A plan was put in place to develop the port in three stages and to develop six berths to receive various types of vessels and commercial goods.

The third expansion phase, which is under construction, will be completed in 2020 and aims to deepen the navigational channel of Al Ruwais Port to 10 metres helping to receive larger vessels.

بدأت شركة «مواني قطر»، أمس الأول الأحد، العمل بزيادة أيام التخزين المجانية في ميناء الرويس، كحوافز جديدة لعملائها. وتأتي هذه الخطوة في إطار دعم القطاع الخاص وتعزيز دور الميناء الذي يعدّ بوابة قطر الشمالية للتجارة وأحد المنافذ المهمة في الدولة لتلبية احتياجات السوق المتزايدة من المواد الغذائية واللحوم والسلع الطازجة والمبردة.

بموجب الزيادة سيحصل عملاء الشركة على ضعف أيام التخزين المجانية التي كانت مقررة سابقاً في ميناء الرويس لكل من شحنات البضائع العامة؛ حيث تمت زيادة مدة التخزين المجانية لشحنات البضائع العامة الواردة إلى 6 أيام بدلاً من 3 أيام، كما تمت زيادة المدة المجانية المخصصة لصادرات البضائع العامة لتصبح 10 أيام بدلاً من 5 أيام.

وفيما يخص الحاويات فقد تمت زيادة أيام التخزين المجانية إلى 5 أيام بدلاً من 3 أيام للحاويات الواردة، و7 أيام بدلاً من 5 أيام للحاويات الصادرة.

تسهيلات

وتأتي زيادة أيام التخزين المجانية في ميناء الرويس بالتزامن مع بدء العمليات التشغيلية في المرحلة الثانية من الميناء، والتي تم خلالها إضافة نحو 160 ألف متر مربع من المساحات التخزينية المتكاملة لدعم عمليات الميناء المتنامية، بما يساهم في تحقيق الخطة الاستراتيجية لوزارة المواصلات والاتصالات الهادفة لبناء سلاسل إمداد قوية مستقرة تلبي احتياجات السوق المحلية وتوفر الدعم اللازم لاستدامة النهضة التنموية وتلبية احتياجات مشاريع الدولة، لا سيّما في المنطقة الشمالية.

واستطاع ميناء الرويس وبفضل عمليات التطوير الشاملة التي شهدها مؤخراً تحقيق نمو كبير في حركة التجارة وعمليات الاستيراد والتصدير من خلال السفن التي تمر عبره، كما بات يحقق نمواً ثابتاً في أحجام المناولة، لا سيّما فيما يتعلق بالمواشي والمواد الغذائية وغيرها من البضائع العامة.

كما نجح الميناء في تحقيق أداء قياسي خلال عام 2018؛ حيث استقبل ما يصل إلى 2848 سفينة صغيرة ومتوسطة بنمو 35% عن عام 2017، كما شهد مناولة 119,774 طن من البضائع العامة بزيادة 30% عن عام 2017، ونحو 548,967 رأس من الثروة الحيوانية بنمو 118%، بالإضافة إلى 324,248 طن من الجابرو ومواد البناء، وما يصل إلى 25,000 حاوية ونحو 2700 سيارة بنمو 73% و283% على التوالي.
