15 finalists named for WISE Awards

The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) – an initiative of Qatar Foundation – has announced the 15 finalists for the 2019 WISE Awards.
The 2019 finalists are Micro:bit Educational Foundation; United World Schools: Teaching the Unreached; Akilah Institute; Family Business for Education; MyMachine; Personal Safety Education Programme; Stawisha Leadership Institute; OpenClassrooms; ReBootKamp; Dost Education’ Peer Coaching Plan; Moringa School; Institut de l’Engagement; Programa Criança Feliz; and CareerAware.
The WISE Awards recognise and promote innovative projects from across the world that are addressing global educational challenges. This year, the 15 finalists – selected by a panel of international experts – come from nine countries.
The projects tackle a number of pressing issues, including early childhood education; girls’ education; coding and digital skills; innovative higher educational models; improving teacher training and motivation; education in emergencies; stimulating critical thinking and creativity; alternative ways of learning for employment; and personal safety education for children.
Stavros N Yiannouka, CEO of WISE, said: “Each of the 2019 WISE Awards finalists has built an effective, tested solution to a global educational challenge.”
“Whether ensuring access to fundamental early childhood education or preparing children for the 21st Century workplace, each project is already transforming children’s lives, and provides an inspirational model for others to adopt. This is vital to our mission at WISE which centres around celebrating and enabling innovation in education.”
The projects were selected from a pool of 482 submissions evaluated according to strict criteria. They must be established, innovative educational projects that have already demonstrated a transformative impact on individuals, communities, and society of their context. They also need to be financially stable, have a clear development plan, and be scalable and replicable.
The winning projects will be announced in July, and celebrated at the 2019 WISE Summit, taking place from November 19-21 in Doha. In addition to publicity and networking opportunities, each initiative will receive $20,000.

أعلن مؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في التعليم /وايز/، إحدى مبادرات مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع العالمية الرائدة عن المشروعات الـ 15 المتأهلة للفوز بجوائز وايز للعام 2019، والتي تم اختيارها من بين 482 مشروعا متنافسا.
والمشاريع المتأهلة لجوائز وايز لعام 2019 هي /برنامج ميكرو بت التعليمي، مدارس العالم المتحدة، معهد أكيلا، المنظمة العائلة للتعليم، ماي مشين، برنامج السلامة الشخصية، معهد ستويشا لتطوير القيادة، أوبن كلاسروم، ريبوت كامب، برنامج دوست التعليمي، برنامج تدريب الأقران للمعلمين، مدرسة مورينجا، معهد المشاركة المدنية، برنامج الطفل السعيد، برنامج الوعي الوظيفي/.
وتتناول هذه المشاريع عدداً من القضايا التعليمية الملحة مثل /تعليم الفتيات، تعليم الطفولة المبكرة، تعليم اللاجئين، تعزيز المهارات الرقمية، نماذج التعليم العالي المبتكرة، توفير التعليم للفئات المهمشة، الإرشاد المهني، تحفيز المعلم، وتعزيز التفكير النقدي والإبداعي/.
ومن بين المشاريع المتأهلة سيتم اختيار الستة الفائزة بجوائز وايز في يوليو المقبل، وسيجري الاحتفاء بها خلال مؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في التعليم وايز /WISE/ الذي يقام من 19 إلى 21 نوفمبر المقبل بالدوحة، وكذلك المشروعات التي حازت على مركز الوصافة، حيث ستحظى هذه المشروعات بتوفير الدعاية والترويج وإتاحة فرص التواصل، وجائزة مالية قدرها 20 ألف دولار أمريكي.
ويتم تقييم المشاريع المتأهلة وفقاً لمعايير صارمة منها إثبات استخدام الأدوات والحلول المبتكرة والفعالة التي تحدث تأثيرٍا ونقلة نوعية في حياة الأفراد والمجتمعات المحلية، كما يجب أن تتمتع هذه المشاريع بالاستقرار المالي، وأن تكون لها خطط إنمائية واضحة، وقابلية للتطور والتعميم.
وبهذه المناسبة أوضح السيد ستافروس يانوكا، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤتمر وايز، أن كل المتأهلين للفوز بجوائز وايز لعام 2019 قاموا بتصميم حل فعال ومختبر لمعالجة التحديات التعليمية العالمية،سواء كان ذلك لضمان توافر التعليم في مرحلة الطفولة للجميع أو خلق الجيل القادم من القادة الواعين المستعدين لتحديات سوق العمل.. مشيرا إلى أهمية كل مشروع في تغيير المنظومة التعليمية وتوفير نموذج ملهم للآخرين وهذا ما يؤكد رسالة وايز التي تتمحور حول الاهتمام بالابتكار في التعليم وتمكينه.
