QF’s Academic Bridge Program to benefit QA cadet pilots

Doha: Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation programme and Qatar Foundation (QF) have launched a partnership that enables students from the airline’s Al Darb Cadet Pilot programme to benefit from studies at QF’s Academic Bridge Program (ABP), prior to their cadet pilot training.

Part of QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE), the ABP provides secondary school graduates academic and personal skills to help prepare them for university. Upon gaining these skills, cadet pilots are then eligible to begin Commercial Pilot Training in accordance with Qatar Airways’ requirements.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Qatar Foundation and the Academic Bridge Program, which will equip Qatari nationals with essential academic and critical thinking skills before they begin their cadet pilot training at Qatar Airways.

“Qatar Airways is committed to training Qatari youth by integrating them into the aviation industry through a wide range of career opportunities at Qatar Airways. One of our fundamental goals is to continuously develop and invest in Qatari youth through our Al Darb Qatarisation Programme. Our Al Darb Programme has already provided opportunities to many Qataris who continue to make a valuable contribution to the airline.”

President of PUE, QF, Buthaina Ali Al Nuaimi, said: “At Qatar Foundation, we believe that moving towards progress and prosperity, and establishing a diverse and sustainable economy, requires empowering and supporting our youth throughout their educational and professional journeys.

“Through our initiatives, projects, and partnerships, we have contributed to serving the needs of Qatar by providing our youth with the necessary skills to realise their aspirations, and become the change-makers and leaders of tomorrow across various fields. We are therefore delighted to sign this agreement with Qatar Airways, which aligns with our efforts to foster a culture of lifelong learning in Qatar, and are confident that it will produce positive outcomes that represent an investment in the future of Qatar.”

Upon completion of the cadet pilot training programme, candidates obtain a Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Multi-Crew Pilot License and are entitled to become professional pilots at the world-renowned award-winning airline, Qatar Airways.

Launched in 2012, the highly-successful Al Darb initiative offers eight tailored programmes that cater to each applicant, enabling them to choose their career path and development opportunity in the aviation industry that best suits them. These include the National Scholarships Programme, Cadet Pilot Programme, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Programme, Summer Internship Programme, Graduate Developee Programme, Airport Operations Programme, Aviation Management Programme and Jossor Programme.

أعلنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية عن عقد شراكة جديدة مع مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع بهدف إتاحة الفرصة أمام طلاب برنامج تدريب الطيارين التابع لبرنامج الدرب للتقطير للالتحاق ببرامج دراسية ضمن برنامج الجسر الأكاديمي أحد المراكز التابعة للتعليم ما قبل الجامعي في مؤسسة قطر وذلك قبل انطلاق مسيرتهم التدريبية في برنامج تدريب الطيارين.

يشار إلى أن برنامج الجسر الأكاديمي هو برنامج تأسيسي لمرحلة ما قبل الجامعة يهدف إلى تزويد خريجي المرحلة الثانوية بالمهارات اللازمة للنجاح في دراساتهم الجامعية، ولدى اكتسابهم لهذه المهارات سوف يتأهل الطلاب للالتحاق ببرنامج تدريب الطيارين بما يتماشى مع متطلبات الخطوط الجوية القطرية .

وقال سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية إن اتفاقية الشراكة مع مؤسسة قطر وبرنامج الجسر الأكاديمي تهدف إلى تزويد القطريين وأبناء القطريات بالمهارات الأكاديمية والاجتماعية اللازمة قبل الانضمام لبرنامج تدريب الطيارين من الخطوط القطرية.

وأكد أن القطرية تلتزم بتدريب الشباب القطري ودمجهم في قطاع الطيران من خلال مجموعة متنوعة من الفرص الوظيفية ضمن عملياتها حيث يعد السعي لتطوير الشباب والاستثمار في مهاراتهم أحد الأهداف الأساسية التي تعمل الخطوط القطرية على تحقيقها من خلال برنامج الدرب للتقطير الذي أتاح فرصا متنوعة للعديد من القطريين للمساهمة في نجاح الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر.

من ناحيتها، قالت السيدة بثينة علي النعيمي رئيس التعليم ما قبل الجامعي في مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، إن المؤسسة تؤمن بأن المضي قدما في تحقيق التقدم والازدهار وبناء اقتصاد متنوع ومستدام يتطلب تمكين الشباب ودعمهم طوال رحلتهم التعليمية والمهنية ولذلك تشكل هذه الاتفاقية جزءا من مساعي المؤسسة الرامية إلى نشر ثقافة التعلم مدى الحياة كإحدى الركائز الأساسية التي تقوم عليها مؤسسة قطر.

وأضافت أن مؤسسة قطر وعبر مختلف مبادراتها، ومشاريعها، وشراكاتها ساهمت في تلبية احتياجات دولة قطر، وذلك من خلال تزويد الشباب بالمهارات اللازمة، التي تمكنهم من تحقيق تطلعاتهم ومن أن يكونوا قادة الغد وصانعي المستقبل في مختلف المجالات.

ولدى إتمام برنامج تدريب الطيارين، سيحصل المرشحون على رخصة الطيار التجارية من الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني، تمكنهم من العمل كطيارين محترفين ضمن عمليات الناقلة القطرية.. ويشتمل برنامج الدرب للتقطير، الذي أطلق في عام 2012، على 8 برامج تدريبية تم تصميمها لتلبية تطلعات جميع المتقدمين، حيث يتيح الفرصة أمامهم لاختيار مسارهم المهني في قطاع الطيران بما يتناسب مع رغباتهم.

ويوفر البرنامج عددا من البرامج المختلفة، وهي برنامج الابتعاث الوطني، وبرنامج تدريب الطيارين، وبرنامج هندسة صيانة الطائرات، وبرنامج التدريب الصيفي، وبرنامج تطوير الخريجين، وبرنامج عمليات المطار، وبرنامج إدارة الطيران، وبرنامج جسور .
