Qatargas supplies commissioning LNG cargo to India

Qatargas has supplied a commissioning liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo for India’s newest LNG receiving terminal, Ennore, near the southern Indian city of Chennai.

The commissioning LNG cargo was delivered onboard the vessel ‘Golar Snow’ on 25th February 2019 by the Swiss commodity trader, Gunvor, to the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which owns and operates the five million tonnes per annum (MTPA) terminal. Qatargas sold the cargo Free On Board (FOB) basis to Gunvor. Ennore will be India’s fifth operational LNG terminal and the first LNG terminal on the East Coast of India. Once fully commissioned, Ennore will provide regasified LNG to anchor customers, including Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Madras Fertilizers Limited, and Manali Petrochemicals.

Qatar has established a strong partnership with India since July 1999 when Qatargas started supplying LNG to Petronet. Since then it has delivered over 1,500 cargoes under its various long term sales and purchase agreements as well as supplying significant volumes into the short term/ spot market.

India is a key market for Qatargas given its geographical proximity and growth potential. In addition to the Ennore Terminal, terminals located at Mundra and Jaigarh are also due to be commissioned in the near future as well as a host of other gas related infrastructure projects. These additional terminals will increase India’s capacity to import LNG from 30 MTPA to 44 MTPA – a 46 per cent increase as India continues to make strides in achieving its ambitious target of 15 per cent gas in the energy mix.

Qatargas, established in 1984, pioneered the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry in Qatar and today is the largest producer of LNG in the world with an annual production capacity of 77 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from its world-class facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

قامت شركة «قطر غاز» بتزويد محطة استقبال إينور في الهند بشحنة تشغيلية من الغاز الطبيعي المسال، والمحطة تعدّ أحدث محطة لاستقبال الغاز الطبيعي المسال في الهند بالقرب من مدينة تشيناي جنوب الهند. وقد تم تسليم الشحنة التي بلغت كميتها 35,000 طن على متن السفينة «جولار سنو» في 25 فبراير 2019، بواسطة تاجر السلع السويسري «جونفور»، إلى شركة النفط الهندية المحدودة (IOCL) المملوكة للدولة، والتي تمتلك وتدير المحطة التي بلغت قدرتها الاستيعابية السنوية 5 ملايين طن من الغاز الطبيعي المسال؛ حيث باعت شركة «قطر غاز» الشحنة بنظام «التسليم على ظهر الناقلة» إلى «جونفور».

ستكون هذه المحطة الخامسة في الهند للغاز الطبيعي المسال وأول محطة للغاز الطبيعي المسال على الساحل الشرقي للهند. وبعد تشغيلها بالكامل، ستقوم المحطة بتوفير الغاز الطبيعي المسال المعاد تغويزه إلى العملاء الأساسيين، بما في ذلك شركة تشيناي البترولية المحدودة، وشركة مدراس للأسمدة المحدودة، وشركة منالي للبتروكيماويات.

أقامت شركة «قطر غاز» شراكة قوية مع الهند منذ بداية يناير 2004، عندما بدأت «قطر غاز» بتزويد الغاز الطبيعي المسال لشركة بترونت. ومنذ ذلك الحين، قامت الشركة بتسليم أكثر من 1500 شحنة بموجب اتفاقياتها الطويلة الأمد، بالإضافة إلى توفير كميات كبيرة على المدى القصير / الفوري.

تعتبر الهند سوقاً رئيسياً لـ «قطر غاز»، نظراً لقربها الجغرافي وإمكانيات نموها. بالإضافة إلى محطة الاستقبال «إينور»، فمن المقرر أن يتم تشغيل المحطات التي تقع في منطقتي موندرا وتشايغراه في المستقبل القريب، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة من مشاريع البنية التحتية الأخرى المتعلقة بالغاز. وستزيد هذه المحطات الإضافية من قدرة الهند على استيراد الغاز الطبيعي المسال من 30 مليون طن سنوياً إلى 44 مليون طن سنوياً، وهي زيادة بنسبة 46%، مع استمرار الهند في اتخاذ خطوات كبيرة في تحقيق هدفها الطموح المتمثل في إيصال نسبة الغاز إلى 15% من إجمالي أنواع الطاقة المستخدمة في البلد.
