The total area of the Gardens is (32,700 square meters), formed with a group of carefully designed plants, trees and lawns in a fantastic geometric shapes and styles that reflect The diversity of ornamental plants and trees which hits (225) tree brought from different countries and continents to grow in Qatar, in harmony with the main Idea to make (Katara) a shady oasis for cultures confluence and blending of civilizations, and a spacious yard opened to the world thought, celebrating art, creativity and talent.

Leafy trees spread along the courtyards of Katara, throughout its streets and alleys, to bestow elegance and glamorous on the attractiveness of the place and its charm, as the granite stone flooring offer a sense of originality and legacy, which is an important adding to one of the main elements of architectural design beauty of Katara.

All traditional style buildings of the Cultural Village encircled with watercourse and roses and decorative plants of different shapes and colors, enabling visitors of Katara to feel a sense of wellbeing and relaxation, as these beautiful and harmonious paintings symbolize natural images that delight viewers amongst the flowers, trees and plants, in a renewed vital custom, where the diverse elements of beauty overlap between water, greenery and captivating shape, emphasizing the value of the extraordinary artistic and creative chef-d’oeuvre.

Katara’s gardens comprise various seasonal types of plants and flowers, welcoming visitors with its fragrances, in addition to a large numbers of old, fast-growing and evergreen trees in different shapes and sizes, which have a tremendous capacity to adapt to local environmental conditions, representing gorgeous tapestry of rich colors that entertain the public of art, culture and creativity.

You will find the robust (Washington) palm of American origin, with a distinctive shape and palm, and leaves dangling in the form of great filaments, giving a wonderful aesthetic dimensions, in addition to the tropical (Bwansiana) tree with its beautiful red flowers and shadows, which looks like a tent covering large areas, and considered as one of the most important flowering trees, transportable and planted to compensate the lack of flowers during the summer.

As the visitor will also find the huge and very beautiful (Bombax) tree which characterized by its colored and large flowers, an considered as one of the most decorative trees growing up rapidly to large sizes in record time, which endures harsh environmental factors, can be found in Southeast Asia and Australia, in addition to the (Leucaena) tree described as the strange plant that implanted in many countries starting from Mexico, Cuba and America, all the way to the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Thailand, and can resist to humidity pressure, as well as the high Summit (Albizia) tree with light pink color flowers.

Gardens of spectacular beauty

The Arab origin (Sidra) tree, one of the magnificent beauty and majesty, with its stretched shadow, branched stumps, dense leaves, white small flowers and tender cherry fruit, that captivate Katara visitors, in addition to the (Samr) tree that grows in Qatar which is forms natural umbrellas, and the (acacia) tree surrounded by butterflies and the birds using it as shelter, as well as the (Rowan) tree with its yellow flowers and odorous perfume, and the lasting African (acacia) tree that reaches a height of 15 meters, the (Cassia Fistula) tree with its beautiful yellow flowers dangling as clusters of gold, and the shady (Rain) tree (up to 30m) with its strong trunks and long branches, it was named rain trees because the dew drops on the leaves falling like rain.

وفق أشكال هندسية رائعة تستمد عناصرها من مختلف الأنماط، ويجسد تنوع نباتات الزينة والأشجار المزروعة فيها والتي تبلغ نحو (225) شجرة تمّ استحضارها وجلبها من مختلف الدول والقارات لتنمو في التربة القطرية، بالفكرة التي أنشئت من أجلها (كتارا) بأن تكون، بحجرها وبشرها وشجرها ، واحة ظليلة لالتقاء الثقافات وتمازج الحضارات ، وساحة فسيحة للانفتاح على الفكر العالمي، تحتفي بأصحاب الفن والإبداع والموهبة

وتحتوي جنائن (كتارا) على أنواع متنوعة من النباتات والأزهار الموسمية التي تستقبل الزوار بأريجها الفوّاح، بالإضافة إلى أعداد كثيرة من الأشجار المعمرة والدائمة الخضرة والسريعة النمو والمختلفة الأشكال والأحجام، والتي لها قدرة هائلة على التكيف مع الظروف البيئية المحلية، ما يجسد لوحة بديعة من ثراء الألوان يستمتع بها جمهور الفن والثقافة والإبداع، ويدخل في نفوسهم البهجة والسرور .

فهناك نخلة (الواشنطونيا ) الباسقة المعمرة ، والأمريكية الأصل، ذات الشكل المميز والسُعف المروحية التي تتدلى أطراف وريقاتها على شكل خيوط كبيرة، ما يضفي أبعاداً جمالية رائعة على المكان، بالإضافة إلى شجرة )بوانسيانا) الاستوائية الموطن، بأزهارها الحمراء الجميلة وظلالها الوارفة، والتي يبدو شكلها كخيمة تفرش فيئها على مساحات واسعة، وهي من أهم الأشجار المزهرة العديدة الاستخدامات والتي تستجيب لعمليات النقل وتزرع لتعويض النقص في الزهور خلال فصل الصيف .

كما يجد الزائر للحيّ الثقافي شجرة (البومباكس) الضخمة والجميلة جدا، حيث تتميز هذه الشجرة بأزهارها الملونة الفائقة اللمعان والكبيرة الحجم، وهي من أشجار الزينة السريعة النمو والتي تصل لأحجام كبيرة في وقت قياسي، وتتحمل العوامل البيئية القاسية، وموطنها الأصلي جنوب شرق آسيا واستراليا، بالإضافة إلى شجرة ( الليوسينا ) التي توصف بالنبات العجيب الذي ينتشر زراعته في العديد من البلدان، بدءا من المكسيك وكوبا وأمريكا، وصولاً إلى الفلبين واندونيسيا والهند وتايلاند، وتتميز هذه الشجرة بوريقاتها الرمحية التي تستجيب لضغوط الرطوبة والبرودة ، فضلاً عن شجرة (البيزيا ) ذات القمة الكبيرة والأزهار القرنفلية الفاتحة اللون .

وتأتي (شجرة السدر)، العربية الأصل، الرائعة الجمال والجلال، بظلها الممدود، وجذوعها المتفرعة، وأوراقها الكثيفة، وأزهارها الصغيرة البيضاء المخضرة وثمارها الكرزية الغضة الحلوة المذاق ، لتنال مكانتها المميزة عند زوار ( كتارا)، انطلاقاً من المنزلة التي تتبوأها في كتب الدين والأدب والشعر، بالإضافة إلى شجرة (السّمر) التي تنمو في بر وروضات قطر، وتشكل مظلات طبيعية، وشجرة ( الأكاسيا ) التي تحلق حولها الفراشات وتتخذها الطيور مأوى لها ، فضلاً عن شجرة لسان العصفور ( المن والسلوى ) بأزهارها الصفراء وعطرها الفوّاح، وشجرة السنط ( الأكاسيا) الافريقية المعمرة التي تصل ارتفاعها الى 15 متراً، و(الخيار شامبر) بأزهارها الصفراء الجميلة المدلاة كعناقيد الذهب، وشجرة (المطر) الظليلة بجذوعها المتينة وأغصانها الطويلة وطولها الفارع( يصل إلى 30 م ) والتي سميت بأشجار المطر لأن قطرات الندى التي تتجمع على أوراقها تتساقط كثيراً كحبات المطر .
