Oryx GTL signs five-year pact with AZF to sponsor freestyle aquatics for people with disabilities

Oryx GTL yesterday signed a five-year partnership agreement with Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) to sponsor Aspire’s pilot CSR initiative for people with disabilities, freestyle aquatics.

The agreement was signed at AZF’s Headquarters by Abdulla Nasser Al Naemi, Director General, Aspire Logistics and Mohamed Al Enazi, Chief Administration Officer, Oryx GTL, in the presence of officials from Oryx GTL including Ibrahim Al Kuwari, CSR Coordinator.

The support that Oryx GTL provides to this unique CSR programme will benefit more than 27 participants with special needs, aged 5 and above who will be given customised swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving experiences and individualised training sessions.

Commenting on the new partnership, Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi, Director General, Aspire Logistics, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Oryx GTL. This news will further enhance our efforts to attract greater numbers of participants to this unique initiative.

The business’ involvement reflects how national organisations are keen to integrate people with special needs into society, and to break down perceptions that sports are to be enjoyed exclusively by a particular group of people.”

Meanwhile, Mohamed Al Enazi, Chief Administration Officer, ORYX GTL said: “Through our corporate social responsibility programme, we aim to contribute to different sectors of the economy including sports, education and health. It is a great honour to join forces with AZF to support this unique initiative by sponsoring it for five years.”

Freestyle Aquatics at Aspire is part of AZF’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme and builds on its existing efforts to provide people with disabilities with a wide range of opportunities to participate in sporting activity throughout the year.

Creating such opportunities encourages people to maintain active and adopt healthy lifestyles, helping them feel included in the various local community activities underway in Qatar.

وقعت مؤسسة أسباير زون اليوم، اتفاقية مع شركة أوريكس جي تي إل تقوم بموجبها الأخيرة بتقديم الرعاية لبرنامج السباحة الحرة في أسباير لمتحدي الإعاقة وذلك لمدة خمس سنوات.

وبموجب الاتفاقية أصبحت أوريكس جي تي إل الراعي الرئيسي للمبادرة التي أطلقتها أسباير زون بالشراكة مع منظمة فريستايل أكواتيكس غير الربحية ويستفيد منها حاليا قرابة 27 مشاركا من متحدي الإعاقة من فئات عمرية تبدأ من سن 5 سنوات وللبالغين على حد سواء.

وقال السيد عبدالله ناصر النعيمي المدير العام لأسباير لوجستيكس، عضو مؤسسة أسباير زون تعليقا على الاتفاقية “نحن سعداء بالشراكة مع شركة أوريكس جي تي إل والتي ستمكننا من استيعاب المزيد من المشاركين في البرنامج الفريد من نوعه في دولة قطر، ونثمن عاليا تلك البادرة التي تعكس حرص مؤسسات الدولة على اندماج متحدي الإعاقة مع المجتمع وكسر الأفكار النمطية عن أن الرياضة مقتصرة على فئة بعينها”.

وأضاف “لقد حقق البرنامج منذ تدشينه ما يزيد عن 850 ساعة تدريب، وهو مجهود ضخم يستحق التقدير بالنظر إلى أن المدربين تطوعوا بأوقاتهم بالكامل بلا مقابل وهو ما يشجعنا على الاستمرار في تقديم كافة سبل الدعم لهم وللمشاركين في البرنامج ليستفيد منه أكبر عدد ممكن من المشاركين”.

من جهته قال السيد محمد العنزي نائب الرئيس التنفيذي في شركة أوريكس جي تي إل “نحن نحرص من خلال برنامجنا للمسؤولية الاجتماعية على دعم مختلف القطاعات الرياضية والصحية والتعليمية بالدولة، ونتشرف بالتعاون مع مؤسسة أسباير زون بدعم تلك المبادرة المتميزة لخمس سنوات ليستفيد منها أكبر عدد ممكن من المشاركين”.

ويعد برنامج السباحة الحرة في أسباير لمتحدي الإعاقة من المبادرات المتميزة لما للسباحة من أثر بالغ على تطور الحالة الذهنية والنفسية للمشاركين، كما أنه يمثل متنفسا حقيقيا لهم، فهو البرنامج الأول من نوعه على الإطلاق الذي يقدم خدمات التدريب على السباحة والغطس تحت إشراف مدربين متخصصين في مرافق عالمية المستوى في قبة أسباير.

وتسعى مؤسسة أسباير زون بالتعاون مع الجهات والمنظمات المعنية لتمكين متحدي الإعاقة وتشجيعهم على ممارسة الرياضة بشكل مستمر وفق ما يتناسب مع قدراتهم في مسعى لكسر الأفكار النمطية، ومساعدتهم على الاندماج في المجتمع والشعور بالمساواة مع غيرهم في الفرص والبرامج المتاحة في تأكيد على مسؤوليتها الاجتماعية.
