Ooredoo hosts Qatar Independent Technical School students at its Data Centre

Ooredoo has hosted a group of Information Technology students from Qatar Independent Technical School at its Qatar Data Centre.

The visit – the second for the school, following a similar visit last year – was intended to give the students an understanding of the real-world implementation of their studies and allow them a close-up look at how the Data Centre works, including the IT network and software used.

They were introduced to a number of services provided by the Data Centre, including hosting and co-location, Cloud services, data back-up and restoration, managed storage, e-mail and web security and much more, and gained an appreciation of how their studies relate to real-life operations in the world of information technology.

Students also learned about employment opportunities at Ooredoo that would suit their studies and chosen career paths.

Manar Khalifa al-Muraikhi, director of PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo, said of the visit: “An important part of our corporate social responsibility strategy at Ooredoo is supporting education, and hosting school visits is an ideal way for us to do this. It’s vital that students can access real-life experiences that relate to their studies, and we’re pleased to have been able to show Qatar Independent Technical School students how our Data Centre works.”
