Ooredoo accelerates 5G network transformation with artificial intelligence

Doha: Ooredoo Group, one of the region’s leading ICT providers, announced yesterday at Mobile World Congress that it is accelerating its 5G network transformation across the Middle East, North Africa, and South East Asia with Artificial Intelligence solutions from P.I. Works.
Following the successful deployment of P.I. Works’ Centralised Self-Organising Network (C-SON) solutions in Indonesia and Myanmar, which delivered strong results in optimising network efficiency and costs in a short amount of time, Ooredoo Group has rolled out the technology across all operations.
With the roll-out, hundreds of millions of Ooredoo customers in the company’s operations in Middle East, North Africa, and South East Asia are now experiencing significantly enhanced network coverage and connectivity, more advanced mobile apps, enhanced capacity during mega-events, and the enablement of 5G-based Internet of Things innovations.
In Qatar specifically, Ooredoo Group worked with P.I. Works to automate its live 5G network, a development that will help 4G and 5G technologies work together in harmony. This ensures that Ooredoo can deploy 5G throughout the country to facilitate new experiences.

Ooredoo Group and P.I. Works originally started implementing the real-time, Artificial Intelligence-powered network management solutions for Ooredoo Group’s operations in Myanmar and Indonesia in 2018. After seeing the benefits in Asia, the companies decided to expand the upgrade to the rest of Ooredoo’s operations.

P.I. Works’ uSON platform includes standard and advanced closed-loop C-SON functions for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile networks. P.I. Works also provides its HetNet aware optimisation capabilities, which can help Ooredoo Group operating companies to plan and manage the sites needed for small and macro cell deployments to further enhance network coverage.
أعلنت مجموعة «ooredoo» عن دفعة جديدة لتطوير شبكاتها في الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وجنوب شرق آسيا، من خلال الاستعانة بحلول الذكاء الاصطناعي التي توفرها شركة «P.I. Works» العالمية. يأتي ذلك بعد الاتفاقية التي وُقّعت بين الطرفين على هامش المؤتمر العالمي للجوال بمدينة برشلونة. فبعد نجاح حلول «P.I. Works» من خلال شبكتها «C-SON» في كل من إندونيسيا وميانمار، والتي حققت نتائج قوية في مجال تحسين الأداء وتخفيض النفقات خلال فترة وجيزة، قررت «ooredoo» التوسع بهذه التجربة لتشمل باقي البلدان التي تتواجد فيها.
مع نشر هذه الحلول، سيحصل ملايين العملاء في الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وجنوب شرق آسيا على تغطية أوسع للشبكات وخدمة اتصال أفضل، بالإضافة إلى تطبيقات جوال أكثر تطوراً وسعات أكبر للشبكة خلال الأحداث والفعاليات الضخمة، وتمكين الابتكارات التي تعتمد على حلول إنترنت الأشياء التي تعتمد على تقنية «5G».
وفي قطر بالتحديد، عملت مجموعة «ooredoo» مع شركة «P.I. Works» على تحويل شبكتها «5G» لتصبح رقمية بالكامل، وهو إنجاز سيتيح استخدام شبكات «4G» و»5G» جنباً إلى جنب بانسجام تام. وهذا يعني أن «ooredoo» ستتمكن من نشر خدمات «5G» في جميع أنحاء قطر لتقديم تجربة جديدة ومتطورة لعملائها.
تفوق
وقال الشيخ سعود بن ناصر آل ثاني، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة «ooredoo»: «تُعدّ شراكتنا مع خبراء الذكاء الاصطناعي في (P.I. من جانبه، قال بشار أكبنار، الرئيس التنفيذي وأحد مؤسسي شركة «P.I. Works»: «حققت (ooredoo) و(P.I. Works) إنجازاً هو الأول من نوعه عالمياً باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي والأنظمة الرقمية الذكية لإطلاق قدرات شبكة (ooredoo) الكاملة، والتي تشمل تقنيات (2G) و(3G) و(4G) و(5G). ويأتي التوسع باستخدام الحلول لدعم جهود (ooredoo) بإدارة حركة الاتصالات الجوالة المتزايدة والحد من تعقيدات الشبكة وتطوير تجربة العملاء».
وتتضمن منصة «uSON» -التي تصنعها شركة «P.I. Works»- وظائف «C-SON» المغلقة، سواء الأساسية والمتطورة، لشبكات «2G» و»3G» و»4G» و»5G» الجوالة. كما توفر الشركة حلول «HetNet» لتطوير الشبكات، والتي من شأنها دعم جهود شركات مجموعة «ooredoo» في إنشاء وإدارة المواقع اللازمة لتطوير الشبكة عبر الخلايا الصغيرة والكلية.
