Top honour for Milaha

Milaha, a Qatar-based maritime transport and logistics conglomerate, has won the prestigious “Sword of Honour” from the British Safety Council which is awarded to companies that have demonstrated excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work. Milaha was one of 61 organisations worldwide that achieved a Sword of Honour.

Prior to competing for the Sword of Honour, Milaha had achieved the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit in the period between August 2017 and July 2018.

During the audit, Milaha exhibited to an independent panel of experts its practices in the health and safety management throughout its operations.

Milaha President and CEO Abdulrahman Essa Al Mannai said: “We are truly proud to have been awarded the coveted Sword of Honour, which is a testament to our unrelenting commitment to the continuous improvement of our health and safety management systems. At Milaha, we believe that each and every employee’s safety and health is of paramount importance to us. We are glad our efforts are being recognized, and we look forward to future collaborations with our partners at the British Safety Council.”

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Milaha on achieving the very highest standards of health and safety management. Excellence at this level is very hard won, and we are proud to have supported them in their achievements.”

The 2018 awards mark the 39th consecutive year that the British Safety Council has awarded the Sword of Honour for health and safety management excellence and the seventh year of awarding the Globe of Honour for excellence in environmental management.

فازت «ملاحة»، وهي مجموعة نقل بحري وخدمات لوجستية مقرها في قطر، بجائزة «سيف الشرف» المرموقة من مجلس السلامة البريطاني، والتي يتم منحها للشركات التي أثبتت تفوّقها في إدارة المخاطر المتعلقة بالصحة والسلامة في العمل؛ وبذلك تكون «ملاحة» قد انضمت إلى 61 منظمة حول العالم حاصلة على هذه الجائزة.

قبل المنافسة على جائزة «سيف الشرف»، أكملت «ملاحة» بنجاح تدقيقاً على الصحة والسلامة المهنية أجراه مجلس السلامة البريطاني في الفترة بين أغسطس 2017 ويوليو 2018، محققة 5 نجوم، وأصبحت بالتالي إحدى أولى الشركات الحاصلة على هذا التصنيف في دولة قطر. وأثناء التدقيق استعرضت ملاحة ممارستها في إدارة الصحة والسلامة في جميع عملياتها أمام لجنة مستقلة من الخبراء.

وتعليقاً على الفوز بالجائزة، قال السيد عبدالرحمن عيسى المناعي، الرئيس والمدير التنفيذي لمجموعة «ملاحة»: «نحن فخورون بمنحنا جائزة «سيف الشرف»، وهو دليل على التزامنا الصارم بالتحسين المستمر لأنظمة إدارة الصحة والسلامة لدينا. وفي «ملاحة» نعتبر أن سلامة وصحة كل موظف ذات أهمية قصوى بالنسبة لنا. ويسعدنا أن يتم تكريم جهودنا في هذا المجال، ونتطلع إلى التعاون المستقبلي مع شركائنا في مجلس السلامة البريطاني».

من جانبه، قال السيد لورانس وترمان، رئيس مجلس السلامة البريطاني: «نيابة عن مجلس الأمناء وموظفي مجلس السلامة البريطاني، أودّ أن أهنّئ (ملاحة) على تحقيق أعلى معايير إدارة الصحة والسلامة. إن تحقيق التميّز على هذا المستوى صعب للغاية، ونحن فخورون بدعمهم في إنجازاتهم».

وتعدّ جوائز عام 2018 المرة التاسعة والثلاثين التي يمنح فيها مجلس السلامة البريطاني جائزة «سيف الشرف» للتميّز في مجال إدارة الصحة والسلامة، والمرة التاسعة التي يمنح فيها جائزة «عالم الشرف» للتميّز في مجال إدارة المحافظة على البيئة.;
