Katara launches Qatar National Day festivities

DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara yesterday launched its Qatar National Day festivities with many activities in a joyful atmosphere.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed visits by several dignitaries whom Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara received and toured around the festival venues in Katara.

Welcoming the guests at the inauguration ceremony, Al Sulaiti said that Katara has been preparing well for this very special event. He also welcomed everyone to visit and witness the festivities as there are many surprises and exciting activities in store for them such as the “All united hand in hand” operetta which features the strong unity between expatriates and citizens living in Qatar to be staged on December 17 and 19.

He stressed that culture and entertainment go together, saying that the various activities of Katara include cultural messages that Katara seeks to pass to the public.

“By celebrating the nine-day National Day from December 11 to 19, we are working to strengthen the spirit of loyalty and pride,” he added

Katara also unveiled yesterday a mural which is open for citizens and residents to write loyalty comments and messages in this special occasion.

The festivities include more than 45 events spread over nine days, including fireworks, operetta, musical shows, parachuting, drone shows, cultural shows and other fun-filled activities. Visitors can enjoy the different activities taking place at different venues at Katara including the beach, amphitheatre and Katara esplanade every day from 4pm to 10pm.

Traditional bands also roam around the festival venues playing local folk music for the visitors.

وسط أجواء وطنية غامرة، انطلقت مساء أمس الثلاثاء في المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» احتفالات اليوم الوطني، بحضور سعادة الدكتور خالد بن إبراهيم السليطي المدير العام للمؤسسة، والتي ستتواصل حتى 19 ديسمبر الحالي من الساعة 4 عصراً وحتى 10 مساء.

وبهذه المناسبة، وجّه سعادة الدكتور خالد بن إبراهيم السليطي المدير العام للمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي، الدعوة للجمهور الكريم من مواطنين ومقيمين للحضور ومواكبة مختلف الفعاليات، قائلاً: إن هناك العديد من المفاجآت التي ستكون في انتظار الزوار، ومنها الأوبريت الوطني بعنوان «مواطن ومقيم يد واحدة»، بمشاركة الفنان فهد الكبيسي والفنانة أنوار، والذي سيقدم يومي 17 و19 على فترتين الأولى 7 مساء والثانية 9 مساء، بالإضافة إلى افتتاح قبة الثريا الفلكية يوم 18، وعروض الألعاب النارية وطائرات الدرون يومي 17 و19.

وقد تزين الحي الثقافي «كتارا» بكافة مرافقه بأشكال مختلفة من الزينة، حيث وضعت لوحة مضيئة بالنيون بطول 18 متراً وارتفاع 7 أمتار على تلال «كتارا»، والتي كتب عليها شعار اليوم الوطني «لطالما قد زينتها أفعالنا»، كما تزينت جنبات «كتارا» بأعلام دولة قطر وعبارات وطنية مميزة.

وعلى الواجهة البحرية، تابع الزوار مختلف الأنشطة التي تنوعت في مضامينها، حيث قدم مسرح «كتارا» مسابقات وألعاباً تراثية ترفيهية تفاعل معها الجمهور والأطفال بشكل خاص، كما قدمت الفرق الشعبية رقصة العرضة القطرية، التي نالت إعجاب الزوار من مختلف الفئات العمرية والجنسيات. وعلى شاطئ «كتارا» أقيم السوق الثقافي، الذي ضم مجموعة من المقاهي ومحلات الأكلات الشعبية ومحلات العطور والبخور وعرض مقتنيات تراثية.;
