Aspire Zone plans week-long events to mark National Day

Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has announced that, for the first time, it will hold a week-long series of events for this year’s Qatar National Day celebrations.

The programme of events is specially designed for the whole community to enjoy and will run from December 13 to 18, AZF has said in a statement.

Nasser Abdullah al-Hajri, director of PR and communications at AZF, said: “We are keen that AZF plays a major role in contributing to the country’s National Day celebrations with a programme designed to encourage loyalty and unity and build pride in Qatar’s national identity.

“The QND slogan this year reflects a profound message that encourages us all to engage in good deeds and support ongoing development through continuous effort – something that we strive to do at AZF.”

The celebrations will commence with the Al-Adaam Flag Relay, in partnership with Qatar Olympic Committee, which will culminate in a Grand Finale at Aspire Park scheduled to take place from 6pm to 7.30pm on December 13 in the presence of VIP dignitaries. The Flag Relay is designed to unite and inspire audiences while encouraging them to share their pride.

“Choosing AZF as the final destination for the Flag Relay reflects the foundation’s pivotal role as the main sports hub in Qatar and is also indicative of the organisation’s continuous efforts to have Qatar’s flag represented in a wide variety of local, regional and international events,” the statement notes.

Among other events planned at Aspire Park is a celebration for AZF employees that will take place from 9-11am on December 17. The celebrations will comprise a range of cultural activities, including the traditional Ardha sword dance, which will be performed by Aspire Academy student-athletes.

The week-long programme will also feature 16 booths located in Aspire Park that will offer citizens and expatriates the chance to sample a wide of food choices as well as activities, including live cooking demonstrations, pop-up photo studios, henna designs and games for children – all delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs.

Audiences will also be treated to a military parade performed by members of the National Service, Qatar Armed Forces, by the lake at Aspire Park from December 13-17.

Another highlight will be a parasailing performance conducted by the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), with members of the forces descending in different formations into the park behind the lake near Al-Furousiya Street.

Designed to promote a sense of solidarity, unity and pride in the country’s identity, a number of artists will also be located around Aspire Park producing work that expresses their affection for Qatar, in collaboration with the Fire Station Artist in Residence.

On the sidelines of the event, films produced by Qatari filmmakers will be screened for audiences to enjoy throughout the week, in collaboration with Doha Film Institute.

أعلنت مؤسسة أسباير زون عن تفاصيل برنامجها الاحتفالي باليوم الوطني لدولة قطر، الذي يمتد ولأول مرة خلال أسبوع كامل، في إطار مشاركتها السنوية في إحياء يوم العزة والولاء والتكاتف تحت القيادة الرشيدة لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى «حفظه الله».

وأضاف الهاجري: «يحمل شعار هذا العام دلالات عميقة تحثنا على استمرار العمل وفق حسن الأفعال، والمشاركة في سائر مقومات تنمية البلاد، تحقيقاً لنهضتها، من خلال إجادة العمل، وهو ما نسعى في كل يوم إلى تحقيقه».

وقد خصصت المؤسسة المنطقة المحاذية لبحيرة أسباير لتكون مقر الفعاليات هذا العام، حيث من المقرر أن يوجد ما يزيد عن 16 مكاناً مخصصاً للأنشطة الثقافية والتراثية المتنوعة بالتعاون وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية القطرية، وعدد من المعارض الفنية المصغرة بالتعاون مع مطافئ «مقر الفنانين».

وستشهد الجهة المقابلة لشارع الفروسية من حديقة أسباير، هبوطاً مظلياً وعروضاً جوية تنفذها قوات الأمن الداخلي «لخويا»، علاوة على المسير العسكري لمنتسبي الخدمة الوطنية، التابع للقوات المسلحة القطرية، من 13 وحتى 18 ديسمبر حول بحيرة حديقة أسباير.;
