WISH signs MoU with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos University

The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative of Qatar Foundation, and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring future cooperation opportunities in research and healthcare policy.

In the presence of Her Royal Highness Dr. Mona Fahad Al Said of Oman, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation, Sultan Qaboos University, the MoU was signed by Sultana Afdhal, CEO of WISH; and Dr. Amer Bin Ali Al Rawas, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Community Service at Sultan Qaboos University.

HRH Dr. Al Said applauded the efforts of WISH and highlighted the importance of this agreement, saying: “It sends a message that both institutions are determined to join hands for the betterment of health, not only in the region but worldwide.” She also stated that: “Both institutions will work on many other fronts to harness the collaboration on several areas in academia, research, and health.”

In signing the MoU, WISH and Sultan Qaboos University agreed to operate staff exchange initiatives as well as sharing scientific and technical information, and to co-organize seminars, conferences, workshops, and training programs in Qatar and Oman. Both organizations will also promote joint research activities in the fields of biomedical sciences, mental health, diabetes, cancer, patient safety, Islamic ethics, maternal and neonatal health, and environmental health.

“WISH seeks agreements that help realize our vision of a healthier world by strengthening global cooperation through concerted efforts with various partners and stakeholders,” said Afdhal. “Such partnerships represent an additional step that will help us further future research cooperation. And I am particularly pleased to be building a relationship based around research and policy with such a strong partner from our region.”

The MoU aligns with WISH’s strategy of establishing strong ties with major stakeholders across the healthcare industry, both locally and internationally. In Qatar, WISH has worked with organizations like Qatar Autism Society and Child Development Center to develop and implement innovative educational programs to support children with special needs and autism.

وقّع مؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في الرعاية الصحية (ويش)، مذكرة تفاهم مع جامعة السلطان قابوس في سلطنة عُمان، تهدف إلى استكشاف فرص التعاون المستقبلية في المجالات المتعلقة بالأبحاث وسياسة الرعاية الصحية، وتعزيز التعاون البحثي.

حضرت توقيع الاتفاقية صاحبة السمو الدكتورة منى بنت فهد آل سعيد مساعدة رئيس جامعة السلطان قابوس للتعاون الدولي، حيث وقّع مذكرة التفاهم كل من السيدة سلطانة أفضل الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في الرعاية الصحية (ويش)، والدكتور عامر بن علي الرواس نائب رئيس جامعة السلطان قابــوس للشؤون الأكاديمية وخدمة المجتمع.

وأشادت الدكتورة منى بنت فهد آل سعيد، بجهود «ويش»، وعلّقت على أهمية هذه الاتفاقية قائلة إنها «تأتي ضمن جهود الجانبين لبناء تعاون علمي ومؤسسي بنّاء بين المؤسستين، وخطوة نحو العمل المشترك في كل ما يهم المجتمع، سواء على المستوى الإقليمي أو العالمي في الرعاية الصحية، وذلك في جوانب عديدة لا تهم المنطقة فقط، وإنما العالم بشكل أوسع». وأضافت سموها بأن الجامعة تفخر بهذه المبادرة المهمة، وتتطلع إلى مساهمات في المجال الصحي والأكاديمي والبحثي على حد سواء.

وعلّقت السيدة سلطانة أفضل أيضاً على أهمية هذه المذكرة بالقول: «يسعى (ويش) إلى عقد الاتفاقيات التي تساعد في تحقيق رؤيتنا نحو عالم ينعم بنمط حياة أكثر صحة، من خلال تعزيز التعاون العالمي. فهذه الجهود لا يمكن إلا أن تكون مشتركة مع مختلف الأطراف والجهات المعنية. وهذه الاتفاقيات تمثّل خطوة إضافية تساعدنا على تعزيز التعاون البحثي المستقبلي بيننا».;
