‘Freedom Fields’ to open sixth Ajyal Film Festival
مهرجان أجيال السينمائي يفتتح دورته السادسة بفيلم ملاعب الحرية
DOHA: The sixth Ajyal Film Festival, the annual celebration of cinema by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), will open on November 28 with the Middle East premiere of Freedom Fields, at Katara Cultural Village.
The bold and inspiring documentary, based on true events, will set the stage for a diverse showcase of films from around the world celebrating courage, nobility and compassion.
Directed by Naziha Arebi and a recipient of the DFI’s Grants Programme, Freedom Fields (Libya, UK, USA, Netherlands, Canada, Lebanon, Qatar/2018) is a story about hope and sacrifice. The film takes audiences on an inspiring journey through the ups and downs of three women’s efforts to build a football team in post-revolution Libya, even as the country descends into civil war.

It is also timely in that Ajyal presents the film during the symbolic handover year of the World Cup from Russia to Qatar, a dream for our region as a whole. Ajyal proudly continues to expand the diversity and boldness of its programming with narrative, documentary and short films that inspire audiences of all ages to think deeply, act decisively, and be champions of positive change.”
Filmed over five years, Freedom Fields shares the realities of where personal stories of passions and aspirations collide with history in a country in transition. In their struggle to gain support, respect, and even the right to play, facing the disapproval of some members of their community, the challenges that the women must overcome to achieve their dream of playing for their country are nothing short of remarkable.
The 2018 Ajyal Film Festival will present an exciting showcase of cinematic experiences in the Special Screenings programme that demonstrate the limitless possibilities of film to present perspectives, celebrate culture, and inspire people of all abilities.
These include 3 Faces (Iran/2018) by Jafar Panahi, the trans-adapted version of Theeb (Jordan, Qatar, UAE, UK/2014) by Naji Abu Nowar, Hayati (Spain, France/2017) by Sofia Escudé and Liliana Torres, Our Struggles (Belgium, France/2018) by Guillaume Senez, The Man Who Stole Banksy (UK, Italy, Qatar/2018) by Marco Proserpio, and Maya the Bee (Australia, Germany, USA/2014) by Alexs Stadermann .
The Ajyal Film Festival box office will open soon at the Katara Drama Theatre Box Office, and tickets will also be available online at www.dohafilminstitute.com.
أعلن مهرجان أجيال السينمائي، الذي تنظمه مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، اليوم، عن افتتاح دورته السادسة بفيلم ملاعب الحرية في الثامن والعشرين من الشهر الجاري لمخرجته نزيهة عريبي.
وحصل هذا الفيلم على دعم من برنامج المنح بمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام من إنتاج مشترك (ليبيا، المملكة المتحدة، الولايات المتحدة، هولندا، كندا، لبنان، قطر 2018).
ويحكي فيلم ملاعب الحرية قصة الأمل والتضحية في بلد تعد الأحلام فيه ضرباً من الترف، وذلك بتتبعه لمسيرة ثلاث سيدات وجهودهن لتشكيل فريق في ليبيا ما بعد الثورة.
وقالت السيدة فاطمة حسن الرميحي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام ومدير مهرجان أجيال السينمائي في تصريح اليوم، إن افتتاح مهرجان أجيال السينمائي دورته السادسة بفيلم ملاعب الحرية، جاء اختياره نظرا لإظهاره قيم الشجاعة والإصرار والعزيمة للنساء وخصوصاً العربيات منهن.
وأوضحت الرميحي، أن الفيلم، يعد مرآة حقيقية لفكرة المهرجان هذا العام حيث يركز على القصص العالمية للناس والمجتمعات التي تتخطى الحدود وتشكل مصدر إلهام لكل العالم.
وأضافت: “يأتي فيلم ملاعب الحرية في وقت تبرز فيه أصوات النساء في العالم ويزداد الاهتمام بقضاياهن المحقة. وإلى جانب إلقاء الضوء على أهمية تمكين النساء، يشكل الفيلم نافذة مهمة تطل على منطقتنا ومجتمعنا خصوصا النساء اللواتي يسعين بكل ثقة وإرادة لتحقيق أحلامهن وتطلعاتهن، منوهة بأن توقيت الفيلم، يعتبر مثالياً في أجيال، نظرا لكونه يعد تمثيلاً رمزياً للعام الذي تسلمت فيه قطر شعلة كأس العالم من روسيا وهو الحلم الذي طالما تطلع إليه بلدنا ومنطقتنا.
وتم تصوير فيلم ملاعب الحرية على مدار خمس سنوات، إذ يسرد قصة سيدات يواجهن بكل عزم، تحديات هائلة كان يتوجّب عليهن تطويعها لتحقيق حلمهن في ممارسة كرة القدم لأجل بلدهن. وكافح الفريق لكسب دعم وتقدير المجتمع، وكذلك الحق في اللعب، في ظل معارضة شرائح من المجتمع لطموحات السيدات.
ومن خلال أعين هؤلاء الناشطات، يرى المشاهد واقع بلد في مرحلة انتقالية تصطدم خلالها حكايات الأفراد في الشغف والطموحات بواقع التاريخ.
من جهة أخرى، سيعرض مهرجان أجيال مجموعة من الأفلام السينمائية المشوقة في قسم العروض الخاصة تظهر القدرات الكبيرة واللامحدودة للأفلام حيث تبرز مفاهيم ورؤى جديدة وتحتفي بالثقافة وتلهم الناس من كافة المستويات والقدرات.
وتتضمن القائمة في قسم العروض الخاصة الأفلام التالية: ثلاثة وجوه من إنتاج (إيران2018) للمخرج جعفر بناهي، بالإضافة إلى فيلم ذيب من إنتاج (الأردن، قطر، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، المملكة المتحدة 2014) للمخرج ناجي أبو نوار، حيث يعتمد على الترجمة الإثرائية والوصف السمعي البصري، وفيلم حياتي من إنتاج (إسبانيا، فرنسا 2017) للمخرجة صوفيا إسكودي وليليانا توريس، وفيلم كفاحنا من إنتاج (بلجيكا، فرنسا 2018) للمخرج غيوم سينيز، وفيلم الرجل الذي سرق بانكسي من إنتاج (المملكة المتحدة، إيطاليا، قطر 2018) للمخرج ماركو بروسربيو، وفيلم النحلة مايا من إنتاج (أستراليا، ألمانيا، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية 2014) للمخرج ألكيسيس شتادرمان.
جدير بالذكر، أن مهرجان أجيال السينمائي ستحتضن فعالياته المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كتارا خلال الفترة من 28 نوفمبر الجاري إلى الثالث من ديسمبر المقبل.
