Adorno Quartet to perform today at Qatar National Theatre
The Italian musical ensemble Adorno Quartet, whose members are all former students of the prestigious Chigiana Academy of Siena, will perform today at the Qatar National Theatre from 8pm, the Italian embassy announced.
The Adorno Quartet comprises four talented young Italian musicians: Edoardo Zosi and Liu Pelliciari (violin), Benedetta Bucci (viola) and Danilo Squitieri (cello).
Since its founding in 2015, the quartet has performed for important promoters, participated in festivals and competitions and won prizes and recognition around the world.
Italian Ambassador Pasquale Salzano said these young talented performers will play some masterpieces representing the best European classical music, from Beethoven and Schubert to Puccini, including a composition by the contemporary Italian composer Silvia Colasanti.
“The Adorno Quartet is currently engaged in a regional tour aimed to promote the Italian outstanding traditions in the field of classical music and once again Doha has been chosen as the first destination in recognition of the tighter and tighter cultural bonds between Italy and Qatar,” the envoy noted.
He added that the embassy implemented a wide and intense cultural programme in the fields of design, arts, cinema and language this year, participating at the recently-concluded Katara Dhow Festival. It featured Italy’s famous marine and artisanal traditions.
“Now it’s time to promote our outstanding interpreters and our music culture, which has deep and ancient roots and is appreciated all over the world,” Salzano said.
“We look forward to seeing our Qatari friends and the international and Italian communities at this unique concert to enjoy together an intense repertoire and to rediscover music as one of the most powerful languages, able to bind peoples from different cultures and countries,” he stressed.
