29th Doha International Book Fair to begin with large Arab participation

Doha: Under the patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the 29th edition of the Doha International Book Fair will kick off today and will continue to December 8, 2018 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
About 30 countries are participating in the event, which reflects the large participation of Arab and foreign countries. The fair is organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
In the framework of the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018, Russia will be the Guest of Honour at the fair. Visitors will know more about Russian literature through a presentation of the most prominent publishers of Russian book.
They will also be introduced to classical Russian literature, art and culture. The Russian stall will also organise a number of lectures and workshops. The fair is open from 9am to 9pm except on Friday from 4pm to 10pm while on Thursday it is from 9am to 10pm.
As many as 427 official publishers will be participating in the exhibition and will be held on an area spanning over 29.000 square meters. Participants also include 287 Arabic books publishers, 68 of children’s books, 17 of educational books and the number of foreign books publishing houses reached 25. The number of booked stalls at the fair amounted to 791.
The fair also includes around 101,992 titles in Arabic and 17, 261 titles in other foreign languages, bringing the total Arab and foreign languages titles to 119, 253. A number of ministries and government institutions will have participation in the fair. Also, there will be an excellent participation from Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and embassies of US, France, Korea and Palestine.
Spain will participate for the first time in the exhibition this year. The number of publishers in this year’s fair from Lebanon, Jordan, and Morocco has increased. The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic will also participate for the first time in the fair.
تنطلق اليوم فعاليات الدورة التاسعة والعشرين لمعرض الدوحة الدولي للكتاب، وذلك خلال الفترة من 29 نوفمبر الحالي وحتى 8 ديسمبر المقبل، بمقر مركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات.
ويصل عدد الدول المشاركة بالدورة التاسعة والعشرين لمعرض الدوحة الدولي للكتاب إلى 30 دولة، ما يعكس المشاركة العربية والأجنبية الكبيرة، وذلك الزخم اللافت الذي ينتظر المعرض في هذه الدورة.
ويقام المعرض خلال فترة واحدة، ابتداءً من الساعة التاسعة صباحاً وحتى الساعة التاسعة مساءً، عدا يوم الجمعة، حيث ستنطلق فعاليات المعرض بدءاً من الساعة الرابعة عصراً، وتتواصل حتى الساعة العاشرة مساءً، بينما سيقام يوم الخميس من الساعة التاسعة صباحاً إلى العاشرة مساءً.
و بلغ عدد دور النشر المشاركة 427 دار نشر وجهة رسمية، فيما تتسم النسخة المرتقبة بزيادة مساحة المعرض إلى 29.000 متر مربع، بينما يصل عدد التوكيلات المشاركة إلى 30 توكيلاً عربياً وأجنبياً.;
