Vodafone speeds up its 5G deployment in key locations

Vodafone Qatar is accelerating its 5G deployment in key locations across the country to include Abu Hamour, Al Azizya, Al Mamoura, Al Rayyan, Salwa Road, and Umm Slal Mohamed.

This follows the company’s announcement in August that it switched on its first, live 5G network and quickly thereafter connected its first trial enterprise customer, Gulf Bridge International, which experienced the incredibly fast speeds that 5G delivers.

5G is essential to coping with growth in demand for ever-higher speeds, capacity, and reliability. And importantly, the technology has near-instant response times, otherwise known as ultra-low latency, eliminating the lag that’s experienced with current technologies.

This opens up a whole host of new capabilities in gaming, in virtual reality and augment reality applications but also for a host of new business cases such as industrial Internet of Things (IoT), connected healthcare and automated vehicles.

Vodafone Qatar CEO Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim al-Thani said: “Vodafone Qatar’s 5G network rollout is well underway in the country with ambitious plans to bring our customers lighting speeds and innovative solutions that will enhance their lives and drive economic growth and productivity in Qatar.”

He added: “Network speed and quality in Qatar is already world-class, benefiting homes and businesses nationwide. As a country, we enjoy incredible connectivity, high rates of Internet and smartphone penetration, and have a population that is tech savvy and digitally literate. In other words, the conditions are ideal for a business like ours to accelerate Qatar towards a new era of technological advancement as we ramp up our 5G roll-out plans.”

Vodafone Qatar said it expects to connect its customers when 5G devices are available.

أعلنت شركة «فودافون قطر» عن تسريع وتيرة نشر شبكة الجيل الخامس (5G) لتشمل مواقع رئيسية في قطر، هي: أبوهامور، والعزيزية، والمعمورة، والريان، وطريق سلوى، وأم صلال محمد.

وكانت قد بدأت «فودافون قطر»، في أغسطس، بتشغيل شبكتها الحية الأولى من الجيل الخامس، وسرعان ما أعلنت عن الربط التجريبي لأول عملائها من الشركات بهذه الشبكة، وهي «جلف بريدج إنترناشيونال» (جي بي آي)، والتي شهدت السرعة الفائقة التي توفرها شبكة «5G».

ويُعدّ تشغيل شبكة الجيل الخامس (5G) خطوة مهمة لتلبية الطلب المتنامي على شبكات اتصال بسرعات فائقة وسعة أكبر. والأهم من ذلك، هو أن هذه التقنية توفر استجابة شبه فورية تتميز بسرعة اتصال أعلى من التقنيات الحالية. وتفتح هذه المزايا آفاقاً جديدة في تطبيقات الواقع الافتراضي والمعزز ومجال الألعاب الإلكتروني، كما أنها تدعم إطلاق مجالات أعمال جديدة؛ مثل إنترنت الأشياء الصناعية، والرعاية الصحية، والمركبات المتصلة.

خطط طموحة

وبهذه المناسبة، قال الشيخ حمد بن عبدالله بن جاسم آل ثاني، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة «فودافون قطر»: «تسير عملية نشر شبكة الجيل الخامس (5G) في قطر على قدم وساق، مع خطط طموحة لتزويد عملائنا بسرعة اتصال فائقة وحلول مبتكرة، من شأنها الارتقاء بمستوى حياتهم، والمساهمة في دفع عجلة النمو الاقتصادي والإنتاجية في قطر».

وأضاف آل ثاني: «تمتلك قطر فعلياً شبكة اتصالات عالمية المستوى من حيث السرعة والجودة، وتستفيد منها المنازل والشركات في جميع أنحاء الدولة. ونحن في قطر، نتمتع بسرعات اتصال مذهلة، ومعدلات انتشار واسعة للإنترنت والهواتف الذكية، كما نمتلك عدداً كبيراً من أصحاب الخبرة في مجال التكنولوجيا والمعرفة الرقمية. وبعبارة أخرى، فإن الظروف مواتية جداً لشركة مثلنا لتسريع وتيرة انتقال قطر نحو عصر جديد من التقدم التكنولوجي. وعليه، تكثّف شركتنا جهودها لتوسيع نطاق شبكة الجيل الخامس (5G) في الدولة».

وتأمل «فودافون قطر» أن يتمكن عملاؤها من الاتصال بهذه الشبكة بمجرد توافر أجهزة الجيل الخامس.;
