Prime Minister attends Teachers’ Day celebrations

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani attended yesterday the celebrations of Teachers’ Day, coinciding with the International Teachers’ day, which falls on October 5 of every year, at Qatar National Convention Center.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi said that this celebration is a confirmation of Qatar’s national obligations and international commitments, and the embodiment of our children’s right to education and the right of our teachers to be taken care of, QNA reported.

Al Hammadi explained that teachers will remain the basis of the educational process, stressing that in this sense how the state has been making improvements in the financial and work conditions of teachers at the top of its priorities, and has provided them with a safe and stable educational environment.

The Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi said that the celebration of World Teacher’s day, confirms the joint recommendation of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and International Labor Organization (ILO) concerning teachers situations.

He noted that this celebration promotes awareness of, and renewed commitment to teachers issues and professional concerns, and it also recalls that the shortage of qualified teachers remains a challenge at the global level and that the right to education can only be achieved by having qualified teachers.

The Minister pointed out that the Ministry is keen to attract Qatari competencies for the teaching profession, to build national capacities in the field of education, including the evaluation of national programmes for recruiting teachers, as directed by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister’s emphasis to prioritise “tumoh” programme, increasing allocations and incentives for participants to be included in the list of priorities in the required disciplines in the country.

He stressed that these achievements for teachers in the state of Qatar require them to continue doing their best to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030. It should be through instilling the values of belonging and loyalty in the students, to emphasise their identity, give them more space to express their opinions, to strengthen the culture dialogue and acceptance of other opinions, promoting their critical thinking, discovering and developing their talents, recognising the variables influencing their academic achievement, and taking their hands to their own good path, while being endearing to them and facilitating them by following creative and innovative teaching methods and to be the learner of the axis the educational process.

He expressed confidence that the teachers in Qatar are eligible for this task. In conclusion, he stated again the commitment to continue to promote and support the rights of teachers, in loyalty to the nation and to the wise leadership.

Unesco representative in Doha, Anna Paolini, made a speech during the ceremony in which she emphasised that education is a fundamental human right, it promotes peace, tolerance and social inclusion, as well as a critical factor in eradicating poverty and allows children and young people to fully utilise their potentials. Paolini further noted that the sustainable development plan 2030, to which the international community had committed itself to called for education and universal access to early childhood as well as in primary and secondary education. She pointed out that its necessary to work to increase the quality of education opportunities for all youth and eliminate discrimination at all stages.

Hassan Al Hammadi, a teacher at the Religious Institute gave a speech in which he asserted that the teaching profession is not the same as all professions, and requires him to do and give without limits, to continue scientific research and to seek training and professional development and to acquire new skills that help him to do his best in the job.

Al Hammadi further noted the interest of the State of Qatar in education, the improvement of the status of teachers and the role of teachers in development.

At the end of the ceremony, Minister of Education and Higher education honoured 100 female and male teachers.

شهد معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية صباح اليوم الاحتفال الذي أقيم بمناسبة يوم المعلم تحت شعار رسول العلم.. شكرا تزامنا مع اليوم العالمي للمعلم في الخامس من شهر أكتوبر كل عام ، وذلك بمركز قطر الوطني للمؤتمرات .

وفي بداية الحفل ألقى سعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالواحد الحمادي وزير التعليم والتعليم العالي كلمة قال فيها ،إن هذا الاحتفال يجيء تأكيداً لالتزامات دولة قطر الوطنية وتعهداتها الدولية، وتجسيداً لحق أبنائنا في التعليم ولحق معلمينا في الرعاية .

وأوضح أن المعلم سيظلُ أساس العملية التعليمية والتربوية، مؤكدا أنه من هذا المنطلق، جعلت الدولة تحسين أوضاع المعلمين المادية والوظيفية على قمة أولوياتها، ووفرت لهم بيئة تربوية آمنة ومستقرة.

ونوه بأن الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للمعلم، الذي يُقام هذا العام على المستوى الدولي تحت شعار”الحق في التعليم يقتضي وجود معلمين مؤهلين”، يؤكد التوصية المشتركة بين منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة “اليونسكو”، ومنظمة العمل الدولية، بشأن أوضاع المعلمين، لافتا إلى أن هذا الاحتفال يعزز الوعي بقضايا المعلمين وشواغلهم المهنية، ويجدد الالتزام بدعمهم، ويُذكِّر بأن نقص المعلمين المؤهلين، ما زال يُشَكِلُ تحدياً على المستوى العالمي، وأن الحقَّ في التعليم لا يمكن تحقيقه إلا بوجود معلمين مؤهلين.

وأشار إلى أن الوزارة حرصت على استقطاب الكفاءات القطرية لمهنة التدريس، لبناء القدرات الوطنية في المجال التربوي والتعليمي، بما في ذلك تقييم البرامج الوطنية المعنية باستقطاب المعلمين، بناء على توجيهات معالي رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية بالاهتمام ببرنامج “طموح”، وزيادة المخصصات والحوافز للملتحقين بالبرنامج، ليكون ضمن قائمة الأولويات في التخصصات المطلوبة بالدولة.

وأكد على أن هذه المكتسبات والإنجازات التي تحققت للمعلمين بدولة قطر، تتطلب منهم المزيد من العطاء والإنجاز وصولاً لتحقيق رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 ، من خلال غرس قيم الانتماء والولاء للوطن في الأبناء ، وتعزيز هويتهم، وإعطائهم مساحة أكبر للتعبير عن آرائهم، ترسيخاً لثقافة الحوار وتقبل الرأي الآخر، وتعزيز تفكيرهم النقدي، واكتشاف مواهبهم وتنميتها، وإدراك المتغيرات المؤثرة على تحصيلهم الأكاديمي، والأخذ بأيديهم إلى ما فيه صلاحهم، مع تحبيب العلم اليهم وتيسيره لهم، باتباع أساليب التدريس الإبداعية والابتكارية، ليكون المتعلم محور العملية التعليمية ، معربا عن ثقته بأن المعلمين في قطر أهلٌ لهذه المهمة. وجدد في ختام كلمته الالتزام بمواصلة تعزيز ورعاية حقوق المعلمين ، وفاءً للوطن وللقيادة الرشيدة.

وألقت السيدة أنا بوليني ممثلة مكتب منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة “اليونسكو” بالدوحة، كلمة في الاحتفال أكدت فيها أن التعليم يندرج ضمن حقوق الإنسان الأساسية ، ويعزز السلام والتسامح والإدماج الاجتماعي ، فضلا عن كونه عاملا حاسما في القضاء على الفقر ، ويتيح للأطفال والشباب الانتفاع بقدراتهم وطاقاتهم الكامنة على أكمل وجه .

وأشارت إلى أن خطة التنمية المستدامة 2030 التي ألزم المجتمع الدولي نفسه بها، تدعو إلى التعليم وتمكين الجميع من الانتفاع به في مرحلة الطفولة المبكرة وكذلك في مرحلتي التعليم الابتدائي والثانوي، لافتة إلى أنه لبلوغ هذه الغاية يتعين العمل لزيادة فرص التعليم الجيد لجميع الأطفال والشباب والقضاء على التمييز في جميع المراحل .

من ناحيته، ألقى السيد علي حسن الحمادي مدرس بالمعهد الديني، كلمة المكرمين، أكد فيها أن مهنة المعلم ليست ككل المهن، وتتطلب منه البذل والعطاء بلا حدود، والاستمرار في البحث العلمي والسعي إلى التدريب والتطوير المهني واكتساب مهارات جديدة التي تعينه للقيام بعمله على أفضل وجه.. ونوه باهتمام دولة قطر بالتعليم وبتحسين أوضاع المعلمين وبدور المعلم في التنمية .

في ختام الاحتفال، كرم سعادة وزير التعليم والتعليم العالي المعلمين القدامى المحتفى بهم وعددهم مائة معلم ومعلمة.
