Loganair signs new deal with national Qatar airline

Passengers in the Highlands and Islands can now book one ticket to long-haul destinations when travelling through Edinburgh Airport.
Flyers will save £78 on air passenger duty, and will be protected if their connecting flight is disrupted.
Customers who are using the Inverness to Dublin route will also benefit from the deal.
Kay Ryan, Loganair’s commercial director, said: “We are pleased that Qatar Airways has chosen to work with Loganair. This is an exciting deal with one of the biggest names in international air travel.”
‘Ease of travel’
This as the latest move in Loganair’s Better Connected programme, which aims to provide Scottish airlines major destinations with a wide range of links.
Loganair is the only major UK airline owned and headquartered in Scotland. It employs around 600 staff that undertake approximately 1,000 air services each week using a fleet of 30 aircrafts.
The Scottish airline provides regional air links from many of its operational bases including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, while the Gulf State’s national carrier is a member of Oneworld global alliance, and the national carrier of the State of Qatar.
Akbar Al Baker, the Qatar Airways group chief executive, said: “As our only gateway to the beautiful country of Scotland, Edinburgh is a significant part of the Qatar Airways UK network.
“We are delighted to partner with Loganair to provide greater ease and peace of mind to passengers travelling through Edinburgh Airport on to long-haul destinations.”
The middle Eastern airline operates using a fleet of 200 aircrafts, linking over 150 worldwide destinations.
وقعت شركة لوجانير “Loganair” اتفاقية شراكة مع الخطوط الجوية القطرية، لتوسيع الربط الدولي لأسكتلندا عبر مطار أدنبرة، وفق ما نقلته الـ”بي بي سي”. وتعتبر هذه الاتفاقية أحدث خطوة في برنامج “لوجانير”، الذي يهدف إلى ربط الخطوط الجوية الأسكتلندية بالوجهات الرئيسية بمجموعة واسعة من الروابط.
وسوف تسمح اتفاقية الشراكة بين الجانبين للركاب الأسكتلنديين استخدام شبكة خطوط القطرية في مطار «أدنبره»، لأكثر من 150 من الوجهات ذات المسافات الطويلة حول العالم.
وتمكن هذه الاتفاقية الركاب من حجز تذكرة واحدة إلى وجهات الرحلات الطويلة عند السفر عبر مطار ادنبرة، وسيتم حمايتهم إذا تعطلت رحلتهم، كما سيستفيد العملاء الذين يستخدمون طريق إينفيرنيس إلى دبلن من الاتفاقية. وقال أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية: «تعتبر بوابة ادنبرة بوابتنا الوحيدة إلى بلد اسكتلندا الجميل، جزءا مهما من شبكة الخطوط الجوية القطرية في المملكة المتحدة.
وأضاف الباكر «يسعدنا أن نتعاون مع شركة لوجانير لتوفير مزيد من السهولة وراحة البال للمسافرين عبر مطار ادنبرة إلى وجهات الرحلات الطويلة».
وقالت كاي ريان، المدير التجاري لشركة «لوجانير»: «يسرنا أن الخطوط الجوية القطرية قد اختارت العمل مع لوجانير.. هذه صفقة مثيرة مع واحدة من أكبر الأسماء في مجال السفر الجوي الدولي».
ولوجانير هي شركة الطيران البريطانية الرئيسية الوحيدة التي تتخذ من اسكتلندا مقرا لها. ويعمل بها حوالي 600 موظف يقومون بحوالي 1000 خدمة جوية أسبوعياً باستخدام أسطول يتكون من 30 طائرة.
وتوفر الخطوط الجوية الاسكتلندية وصلات جوية إقليمية من العديد من قواعدها التشغيلية بما في ذلك غلاسكو، وادنبرة، وإنفيرنس، في حين أن الخطوط الجوية القطرية هي عضو في تحالف ون وورلد العالمي. وتستخدم الخطوط القطرية أسطولا مكونا من 200 طائرة، تربط ما يزيد على 150 وجهة حول العالم.
