HIA candidate for ‘World’s Best Airport 2019’ at Skytrax Awards

DOHA: Hamad International Airport (HIA) is a candidate for the “World’s Best Airport 2019” awards by Skytrax. The Skytrax World Airport Awards is the most prestigious accolade for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

Earlier this year, HIA was ranked the 5th Best Airport in the World at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2018. The airport has been recognised for its innovative facilities, five-star customer service and state-of-the-art terminal which can accommodate more than 30 million passengers annually, and described as the most architecturally significant terminal complex in the world. Skytrax has also recognised HIA’s best-in-class service by presenting it with the ‘five-star’ airport status, which made HIA the only airport with this classification in the Middle East. HIA has also won the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ title for four years in a row and ‘Best Staff Service in the Middle East’ for three years in a row.

Passengers who have experienced HIA’s award-winning services and facilities can visit Skytrax’s World Airport Survey website and vote for the airport based on categories including Terminal Comfort, Food and Beverage, Airport Shopping and Customer Assistance. Voting results will be announced in March 2019.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on 12.85 million customer nominations across 110 nationalities of air travellers and include 410 airports worldwide. The survey evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate.

في مطلع العام، تم تصنيف مطار حمد الدولي كخامس «أفضل مطار في العالم»، خلال جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية للمطارات 2018، التي تعتبر معياراً عالمياً لتميز المطارات، حيث تم اختيار المطار نظراً لمرافقه المبتكرة، وخدمة العملاء من فئة الخمس نجوم، ومبنى المسافرين الحديث، الذي يمكنه أن يستوعب أكثر من 30 مليون مسافر سنوياً، والذي وصف بأنه الأهم في العالم من الناحية الهندسية المعمارية، فضلاً عن فوزه بتصنيف الخمس نجوم، ليكون بذلك المطار الوحيد الذي يحمل هذا التصنيف في الشرق الأوسط. كما حاز المطار على لقب «أفضل مطار في الشرق الأوسط» لمدة أربع سنوات متتالية، و»أفضل خدمة موظفين في الشرق الأوسط» لمدة ثلاث سنوات متتالية.
