Ooredoo to offer eSIM technology on Supernet

DOHA: Ooredoo announced yesterday another breakthrough for the company, as it has successfully tested the first live eSIM on its world-class Supernet network.
eSIMs are embedded SIMs that will enable Ooredoo to offer a fully digitised user experience without having to insert the normal SIM card in the smart device. With this technology, customers will be able to switch between their private and business numbers in a single phone without needing to physically swap cards in the phone.
eSIM will also be crucial for the Internet of Things. Without the need for a physical SIM card, many small devices, such as watches and other wearables, can be connected to the mobile network, completely transforming the digital experience at home or at the office.
Waleed Al Sayed, Ooredoo’s Chief Executive Officer said: “Ooredoo believes in offering and investing in the best services for our country and our people, which is why we are one of the leading telecommunications operators in the world.”
“Alongside our amazing 5G roll-out, eSIM technology will enable our customers to seamlessly switch between personal and business accounts, enjoy data like never before and take advantage of our crystal-clear voice services on our Supernet network,” Waleed Al Sayed said.
Currently the eSIM is being tested in Qatar and will be available in the near future when devices are enabled by manufacturers for Qatar.
أعلنت Ooredoo أمس عن إنجاز آخر حققته الشركة، مع إجرائها اختبارات ناجحة على تقنية الشريحة الإلكترونية المدمجة eSIM عبر شبكتها ذات المواصفات العالمية – سوبرنت.
وتعد eSIMs شرائح رقمية مدمجة ستمكن Ooredoo من توفير تجربة رقمية بالكامل للمستخدمين دون الحاجة لاستخدام أو إدخال شرائح SIM المعتادة في أجهزتهم الجوالة.
ومع هذه التقنية المتطورة، سيتمكن العملاء من إضافة عدة أرقام جوال في شريحة إلكترونية واحدة، كما سيتمكنون من التبديل بين أرقام الجوال الشخصية وأرقام العمل بكل سهولة، ودون الحاجة لاستبدال الشرائح في هواتفهم الجوالة، أو الحاجة لقص تلك الشرائح أو استخدام الإطارات التي تتناسب مع الأحجام المختلفة لشرائح SIM.
وأفضل ما في الأمر أن هذه التقنية تتيح للعملاء المرونة اللازمة لتخصيص أرقام مختلفة للاستخدامات الشخصية أو للعمل، والاشتراك في باقات مستقلة للمكالمات وأخرى مخصصة للبيانات من مشغل الخدمة نفسه، والتمكن كذلك من إضافة باقة بيانات محلية أثناء السفر للخارج، والعديد من المزايا الأخرى.

هذا ويتم حالياً اختبار تقنية الشريحة الإلكترونية في قطر، وستكون متوافرة خلال المستقبل القريب عند توافر واعتماد الأجهزة التي تدعم هذه التقنية في قطر.
