New interchange on F-Ring Road opened partially

Doha: The public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened sections of a new interchange on F-Ring Road. The new interchange will provide free flow traffic between Doha, north and south and direct connection with Al Thumama Stadium. The interchange is part of the World Cup infrastructure.

The new project is a vital interchange in the country, consisting of two levels including a main bridge, four loop bridges and four underpasses for vehicles as well as two pedestrian bridges and six tunnels for pedestrians and bicycles.

The opening included accesses from the F-Ring Road to the G-Ring Road in both directions, as well as a one and a half kilometer road linking the new interchange to the Umm Bisher Interchange, which runs from two to five routes. In addition to opening two loop bridges and two carriageways and a 3 km service road along the F-Ring road.

The opening was held in presence of Youssef Al Emadi, Highway Dept. Manager, Saoud Al Ansari, Al Thumama Stadium project manager, Brigadier Mohamed Maarifiya, Traffic safety and Engineering Department manager, Sheikha Al Jifeeri, Central Municipal Council member, along with Ashghal officials and project engineers.

Interchange benefits

The completion of the interchange will be a major link connecting the Southern Part of Doha Express Highway with the main Doha Expressway and 22 February Street, connecting the south of the country to its north via Doha. It is located on the F-Ring Road and directly connects to the G-Ring Road and the Southern Part of Doha Express Highway with the E-Ring Road, Rawdat Al Khail Road, Industrial Area Road and Doha Expressway.

The interchange will serve many residential areas such as Al Thumama, Mesaimeer, Abu Hamour and Nuaija and enhancing the traffic flow coming from the southern area’s of Al Wakra, Al Wukair and Doha.

The new achievement is part of the infrastructure preparations for the World Cup, whereas the Public Works Authority is keen to accelerate the pace of work and hand over World Cup projects ahead of schedule. Once complete, the new interchange will serve Al Thumama Stadium, one of the World Cup stadiums. The interchange will also ease access for visitors coming from Al Wakra and Ras Bu Abboud stadiums.

The new interchange will include safe passages for the public, with two bridges and six tunnels to facilitate safe access to the matches. Upon completion, the interchange will provide free traffic flow for those coming from Hamad International Airport, Mesaimeer and the Industrial Area, in addition to those coming from the southern area’s and Al Wakra Stadium towards Al Thumama Stadium.

Project Engineer, Hassan Al-Ghanim said that large parts of the interchange were opened more than five months ahead of schedule, while the full interchange will be completed in the second quarter of 2019.

“The new opening will reduce the travel time by more than 60%. Those coming from the F-Ring Road will have direct access to G-Ring Road and the Southern Part of Doha Express Highway without the need to use Najma Street, Airport Road or Al Wakra Road,” he added.

Road users coming from Mesaimeer, Abu Hamour and Industrial Area via the F-Ring Road can turn right at the new interchange to the G-Ring Road or continue through the Umm Bishr Interchange to the Southern Part of Doha Express Highway and the southern areas such as Al Wakra and Al Wukair.

Commuters coming from Hamad International Airport Road, Airport Road and Najma Street, via the F-Ring Road can use the loop bridge to reach to the G-Ring Road or continue through the Umm Bishr Interchange to the Southern Part of Doha Express Highway and the southern areas such as Al Wakrah and Al Wukair.

Travellers coming from Hamad International Airport and Al Wakra Road via the G-Ring Road, can turn right at the Umm Bishr Interchange to reach the F-Ring Road via the new interchange. Road users can turn right at the new interchange towards Najma Street, Airport Road and Hamad International Airport or use the bridge leading to Mesaimeer, Abu Hamour and the Industrial Street.

افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة (أشغال)، بشكل جزئي، تقاطعاً جديداً في الطريق الدائري السادس، بحضور المهندس يوف العمادي مدير إدارة الطرق السريعة، والسيد سعود الأنصاري مدير مشروع استاد الثمامة، والعميد محمد معرفية مدير إدارة السلامة والهندسة المرورية، وشيخة الجفيري عضو المجلس البلدي المركزي، وعدد من مسؤولي الهيئة ومهندسي المشروع.

يوفر التقاطع الجديد تدفقاً مرورياً حراً بين الدوحة والشمال والجنوب، ويخدم استاد الثمامة بشكل مباشر، حيث يأتي الإنجاز الجديد جزءاً من البنية التحتية لاستعدادات استضافة كأس العالم 2022، حيث تحرص هيئة الأشغال العامة على تسريع وتيرة الأعمال وتسليم المشروعات الخاصة بكأس العالم قبل الموعد المحدد. ويُعدّ المشروع من التقاطعات الحيوية في البلاد، حيث يتألف من مستويين، وجسر رئيسي، و4 جسور التفافية، و4 أنفاق للمركبات، بالإضافة إلى جسرين للمشاة، و6 أنفاق للمشاة والدراجات.

وتضمنت الأجزاء التي افتُتحت: مداخل من الطريق الدائري السادس إلى الطريق الدائري السابع في كلا الاتجاهين، بالإضافة إلى طريق بطول كيلو ونصف الكيلو يربط التقاطع الجديد بتقاطع أم بشر، ويتراوح عدد المسارات من مسارين اثنين إلى 5 مسارات، إضافة إلى فتح جسرين التفافيين، ونفقين للمركبات، وطريق خدمي بطول 3 كيلومترات على طول الطريق الدائري السادس.

وسيصبح التقاطع عند اكتماله بمنزلة حلقة وصل رئيسية تربط بين الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع بطريق الدوحة السريع الرئيسي وشارع «22 فبراير»، وهو ما يربط جنوب البلاد بشمالها عبر مدينة الدوحة، حيث يقع على الطريق الدائري السادس، ويتصل مباشرة بكل من الطريق الدائري السابع والجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع من جهة، والطريق الدائري الخامس وشارع روضة الخيل وطريق المنطقة الصناعية وطريق الدوحة السريع من جهة أخرى. ويزيد من أهمية التقاطع، أنه سيخدم العديد من المناطق السكنية المحيطة، مثل الثمامة، ومسيمير، وبوهامور، ونعيجة، وتعزيز الحكة المرورية القادمة من المناطق الجنوبية مثل الوكرة والوكير والدوحة.

ويوفر التقاطع الجديد، عند اكتماله، ربطاً مباشراً مع استاد الثمامة أحد ملاعب كأس العالم، كما سيسهّل وصول الجماهير القادمة من استادي الوكرة وراس أبوعبود. وسيضم التقاطع الجديد ممرات آمنة أمام الجماهير، حيث يحتوي على جسرين و6 أنفاق تسهّل وصولهم لمتابعة المباريات بشكل آمن. وسيوفر التقاطع، عند اكتماله، تدفقاً مرورياً حراً أمام القادمين من مطار حمد الدولي ومسيمير والمنطقة الصناعية، فضلاً عن القادمين من المناطق الجنوبية.

وبهذه المناسبة، أكد حسن الغانم -مهندس المشروع- أنه تم فتح أجزاء كبيرة من التقاطع قبل الموعد المقرر بنحو أكثر من 5 أشهر كاملة. مشيراً إلى أنه من المزمع اكتمال أعمال التقاطع في الربع الثاني من 2019.

وسيعمل الافتتاح الجديد على خفض زمن الرحلة بمعدل يتجاوز 60%، حيث يستطيع القادمون من الطريق الدائري السادس الوصول مباشرة إلى الطريق الدائري السابع والجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع، دون الحاجة إلى استخدام شارع نجمة أو شارع المطار أو طريق الوكرة الرئيسي.

ومن جهته، أكد سعود الأنصاري -مدير مشروع استاد الثمامة- أن التقاطع يتوسط 3 ملاعب مهمة، حيث يخدم -عند اكتماله- استاد الثمامة بشكل مباشر، ويسهّل وصول الجماهير أيضاً إلى استادي الوكرة وراس أبوعبود. معرباً عن تقديره إعلان «أشغال» اكتمال المشروع قبل انطلاق كأس العالم بعامين كاملين، وهذا إنجاز جديد يُضاف إلى إنجازات «أشغال» المتواصلة والتي اعتدنا عليها. هذا، ويستطيع القادمون من مسيمير وبوهامور وطريق المنطقة الصناعية عبر الطريق الدائري السادس الانعطاف يمين التقاطع الجديد وصولاً إلى لطريق الدائري السابع، أو مواصلة السير عبر تقاطع أم بشر وصولاً إلى الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع والمناطق الجنوبية مثل الوكرة والوكير.

كما يستطيع القادمون من مطار حمد الدولي وشارع المطار وشارع نجمة عبر الطريق الدائري السادس استخدام الجسر الالتفافي وصولاً إلى الطريق الدائري السابع، أو مواصلة السير عبر تقاطع أم بشر وصولاً إلى الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع والمناطق الجنوبية مثل الوكرة والوكير.

في حين يستطيع القادمون من مطار حمد الدولي وطريق الوكرة الرئيسي عبر الطريق الدائري السابع الانعطاف يمين تقاطع أم بشر للوصول إلى الطريق الدائري السادس عبر التقاطع الجديد، حيث يستطيع رواد الطريق الانعطاف يمين التقاطع الجديد في اتجاه شارع نجمة وشارع المطار ومطار حمد الدولي أو استخدام الجسر المؤدي إلى مسيمير وبوهامور وطريق المنطقة الصناعية.;
