Doha Metro Phase 1 progress at 90%

DOHA: Qatar Rail announced that the progress of Doha Metro Phase 1 Program now stands at approximately 90 percent. It said that the civil works are substantially completing at all stations.

The MEP and Architectural works are progressing at all stations and the official opening of the network will be in 2020, it said in a press release yesterday.

Doha Metro is one of the fastest driverless trains in the world and will be the fastest in the region. It will be able to reach a speed of 100 km per hour. In total, 75 trains, consisting of three cars, one of which will be for Gold and Family Class and two for Standard class, will be delivered to Doha Metro. Gold will have 16 seats, family 26 seats and standard 88 seats.

Qatar Rail said that the Doha Metro Train unique design has won the ‘Excellent Product Design’ Award by the German Design Award.

Qatar Rail also participated in InnoTrans International Trade Fair which took place last week in Berlin.

InnoTrans is considered one of the world largest transportation trade fairs With around 3000 exhibitors from all over the world. The trade fair witnessed a large visitor turnout estimated at 130 thousands from 119 countries.

Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Germany has visited the booth and commend the team efforts in representing Qatar at the international event.

On the side-lines of InnoTrans International Trade Fair, Qatar Rail Senior Management led by Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, Qatar Rail’s MD and CEO held a number of high-level meetings to discuss strategic issues with its international partners including Kinki Sharyo delegation headed by the President and the Director of the Board, Thales delegation, and the french Keolis and Alstom senior delegation.

The event was an ideal platform for Qatar Rail young Qatari engineers to exchange expertise and learn more about the latest technology in public transport sector. The visitors enjoyed Qatar Rail booth with Lusail Tram driving simulator experience and the VR tour on board of Doha Metro train and stations. The booth stood out with its traditional Qatari Majlis design and the unique Doha Metro stations arcs.

Giving details about the design award, the company said Qatar Rail Metro trains’ fusion of elegant, modern and futuristic design have proven to be an award winning concept on a global platform as the design was awarded the Excellent Product Design under the Transportation category By the German Design Award.

Eng Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, Qatar Rail’s MD and CEO, said: “The award is a particular source of pride not just for Qatar Rail and our partners but is indeed a nod to the proud Qatari Heritage reflected in every element of the design”.

“Doha Metro is an embodiment of Qatari heritage and culture combined with state-of-the-art technology. It is a true marriage of all things functional and beautiful,”he added.

The German Design Award aims to contribute to the overall commercial success. Prizes are only being awarded to projects that truly represent pioneering contributions to the international design landscape. A company can only enter the competition for the Design Award if its product has already been awarded a national or international design prize.

The awarding jury praised the design of the Doha Metro stating, “The design of the underground train unites a contemporary, aerodynamic shape with traditional cultural elements, which caters to the sociocultural requirements both on the exterior and in the interior, right down to the last detail”.

The designs of the Doha Metro trains which recently received the German Design Counsle Award are an embodiment of Qatari heritage and culture combined with state-of-the-art technology.

سجلت شركة سكك الحديد القطرية (الريّل) حضوراً متميزاً ومشاركة فاعلة في معرض إنوترانز الدولي لقطاع النقل بالسكك الحديدية والنقل الجماعي، والذي أقيم الأسبوع الماضي في العاصمة الألمانية برلين. ويعد «إنوترانز» من أضخم المعارض الدولية التي تعنى بقطاع النقل بالسكك الحديدية والنقل الجماعي، وامتد المعرض على مساحة 200 ألف مربع، وضم ما يقارب 3000 مشارك من الشركات حول العالم، ووصل عدد زوار المعرض إلى ما يقارب 130 ألف زائر.

وقد اغتنم الوفد المشارك من المهندسين القطريين الشباب في شركة الريل الفرصة لتبادل الخبرات، والاطلاع على أحدث ما توصلت إليه التكنولوجيا في هذا القطاع. وقد تميز جناح شركة الريل بتصميمه، والذي برز بوجود المجلس القطري والأقواس المستوحاة من محطات مترو الدوحة، كما أتيحت الفرصة لزوار الجناح للاستمتاع بتجربة تفاعلية لقيادة ترام لوسيل، وتجربة ركوب قطار مترو الدوحة، والتجول في المحطات، من خلال تقنية الواقع الافتراضي.

تقدير

هذا وقد قام سعادة الشيخ سعود بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني سفير دولة قطر في ألمانيا، بزيارة جناح «الريل»، وأثنى على جهود القائمين عليه في تمثيل دولة قطر بأفضل صورة.

وعلى هامش المؤتمر قام أعضاء الإدارة العليا في شركة الريل، وعلى رأسهم المهندس عبدالله عبدالعزيز السبيعي، العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي، بعقد عدة اجتماعات رفيعة المستوى لمناقشة مواضيع استراتيجية مع شركاء مشاريع «الريل»، وأهمهم وفد شركة «كينكي شاريو» اليابانية، والذي ترأسه رئيس الشركة ورئيس مجلس الإدارة، وشركة «تاليس»، ممثلة برئيسها التنفيذي والوفد المرافق، ووفدا شركتي «كيلوس» و«ألستوم» الفرنسيتين.

وحول ما وصل إليه المشروع من تقدم، فقد أعلنت «الرّيل» مؤخراً أن نسبة إنجاز المرحلة الأولى من مشروع مترو الدوحة قد وصلت إلى ما يقارب 90% من التقدم الكلي، وقد تم الانتهاء من الأعمال المدنية. تجدر الإشارة إلى أن العمل جارٍ لإنهاء التشطيبات الكهروميكانيكة والمعمارية في المحطات البالغ عددها 37 محطة. ويتوقع افتتاح المرحلة الأولى للمشروع كما هو مخطط له في 2020.;
