Katara’s Visitors: Eid al-Adha celebrations are the most beautiful

DOHA: More than 150,000 people visited Katara Cultural Village during its four-day Eid Al Adha festival reaffirming Katara’s position as a prime destination during the Eid holidays.

Speaking to the media at the conclusion of Eid celebrations in Katara yesterday, Salem Al Marri, Director of Public Relations and Communications stressed the diversity of events and activities resulted to a huge turnout attracting more than 150,000 visitors.

“This confirms that Katara is the top destination for the public in such festive occasions due to its variety of services and different activities that respond to different tastes and needs,” he said.

This year’s Katara Eid Al Adha festival featured performances by Police Musical Band, distribution of Eid gifts to children, games, entertainment and activities and dazzling fireworks display which appealed to visitors from different age groups and backgrounds.

The band from the Police Training Institute entertained the public with their excellent performances playing musical instruments while moving in sync as they marched along the beachfront.

It was also a memorable Eid Al Adha for children who visited Katara as they received gifts distributed by volunteers.

The main highlight of each night was the stunning fireworks show with spectacular colours and formations including those that depict the Qatari flag. People aimed their cameras to capture the fleeting beauty of the spectacle which only lasted for a few minutes.

During the course of the event, Katara has provided a range of services free to the public to ensure the comfort of its visitors such as transport within Katara, bottled water, volunteers to ensure organisation around the venue in addition to the presence of ambulance in case of emergency, added Al Marri.

Apart from the Eid events at Katara Esplanade at night, Katara’s beach also witnessed huge number of visitors during the holidays engaging in various marine activities from 10am till sunset. They included water skiing, boat tour and gondola ride in addition to a special area for children’s games, as well as a variety of water sports.

People also thronged ongoing art exhibitions including Sajaya and Colour Bar which continues to receive visitors until August 28.

Sajaya, which means simplicity, displays 24 Arabic calligraphy works by Turkish calligrapher Zaki Al Hashemi focusing on a very significant element of Arab and Islamic heritage.

Colour Bar, on the other hand, features 38 paintings by six Qatari artists comprising Abdul Aziz Yousef, Kholoud Al Ali, Aisha Al Khulaifi, Mohammed Al Sharif, Fatima Al Nisf and Hamad Al Mutawa, who employing their own unique style, presented their own take on popular cartoon characters and scenes from familiar cartoon films.

Many visitors expressed deep appreciation for the great contribution Katara has made organising events and activities that make the cultural district Katara the destination of choice to spend enjoyable times with family and friends.

“As always Katara never disappoints when it comes to shows and events that’s why we never fail to come here during significant occasions like Eid Al Adha,” said Lari, one of the visitors, who came along with his friends.

Meanwhile, Katara yesterday honoured the 974 event group who volunteered to make the festival possible.

More than 34 volunteers worked together to organise the festivities which took place at the Katara Beach side during the three days of Eid Al Adha and distributed gifts to children.

Hamad Al Meer, chairman of 974 event group along with 33 other volunteers were honoured yesterday at Katara.

The volunteers expressed their happiness helping out during the event which they say have enriched their personal experience in dealing with others. They also thanked Katara officials for their cooperation and encouragement which helped them to provide good service to the public.

تختتم المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» فعالياتها لعيد الأضحى المبارك، اليوم الجمعة، على الواجهة البحرية، والتي شهدت حضوراً جماهرياً كبيراً من مختلف الجنسيات والفئات العمرية. وكان الحي الثقافي «كتارا» طوال أيام العيد ملتقى للعائلات، التي أشادت بالأنشطة التي تقدمها «كتارا» في جميع المناسبات لا سيّما في العيد. كما حرصت «كتارا» على توفير مجموعة من الخدمات المجانية لضمان راحة زوارها، نذكر منها خدمات النقل ونقاط توزيع المياه بشكل مجاني للجمهور على طول الواجهة البحرية، بالإضافة إلى تواجد سيارة الإسعاف تحسباً لأي طارئ، هذا فضلاً على تواجد المتطوعين في نقاط توزيع عيدية «كتارا» لضمان تنظيم سير التوزيع لجميع الأطفال.

أعربت أم عبدالعزيز عن سعادتها بالأجواء المفرحة في «كتارا»، وقالت: «لقد أصبحت (كتارا) وجهتنا الأساسية في الأعياد؛ حيث نجد فيها كل ما نحتاجه من تسلية وترفيه وخدمات على أعلى المستويات. وفي كل عام نجد تنوعاً في الأنشطة، وكذلك أكشاك الأطعمة والحلويات المحببة للجميع».

من جانبه، قال السيد طلعت قدورة: «يستمتع أبنائي بالعروض المتنوعة التي تقدمها (كتارا)، وخاصة الألعاب النارية التي نحرص على متابعتها، ويسعد أبنائي بأشكالها وألوانها المتنوعة وتدخل البهجة في نفوسهم».

وأشارت السيدة سماح إلى أنه يتابع بشكل مستمر حسابات «كتارا» على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، والتي يتعرف من خلالها على جديد الفعاليات المقدمة، مشيراً إلى أن وجوده في «كتارا» كان فرصة جيدة لزيارة بعض المعارض المقامة والتي استمتع بها كثيراً.

وأكد السيد عبد الرحمن أن شاطئ «كتارا» هو الأمتع على الإطلاق، قائلاً: «في هذه الأجواء الصيفية ليس هناك أجمل من البحر، وبالطبع شاطئ كتارا هو الخيار الأمثل للعائلة؛ حيث يجد أبنائي الألعاب البحرية المتنوعة، وكذلك يستمتعون باللعب على الرمال»، مبيناً أن الخدمات المتوافرة في الشاطئ بشكل خاص، وفي «كتارا» بشكل عام تشجعه دائماً على اصطحاب العائلة إليها.

وللإشارة، فإن العرض الأول لموسيقى الشرطة سيكون في الساعة 8:15 مساء، فيما سيكون العرض الثاني في الساعة 9:15 مساء. أما توزيع عيدية «كتارا» فستكون في الساعة 8:40 مساء. وتختتم الأنشطة بالفقرة الأكثر متعة وهي فقرة الألعاب النارية في الساعة 9:45 مساء، وجميع هذه الأنشطة متواجدة في الواجهة البحرية أمام المسرح المكشوف.;
