HBKU Fall 2018 community courses open for registration

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has announced the rollout of its Fall 2018 community courses, which are now open for public registration. The courses cover both practical and theoretical aspects to deepen local capacity-building in the areas of leadership, co-active coaching, entrepreneurship and public speaking.
HBKU will provide local and international expert resources to deliver the courses scheduled in September and October. The compact course design is aimed at providing participants with valuable insights into a myriad of pertinent topics that can aid their professional development.
Vice-president of Student Affairs at HBKU, Maryam al-Mannai said, “Since its conception, the programme has aspired to encourage lifelong learning through communal engagement while complementing HBKU’s wide range of postgraduate programmes and fostering a culture of innovative thought among people of all age groups, genders, and professional backgrounds. We welcome a cross-section of Qatar’s diverse community to enrol in HBKU’s community classes and supplement their existing professional competencies with a new skill, or simply engage in a unique personal development opportunity.”
The Leadership Through Self-Discovery course, which will run from September 17 – 26, is an opportunity to re-discover leadership potential through an interactive four-part workshop that draws on the principle of garnering personal strengths to succeed within a competitive, business-driven environment.
The How to Start Your Venture module will offer participants practical tips on entrepreneurship, prototyping and revenue models in preparation for future business endeavours. This four-part course will also run from September 17 – 26.
One of HBKU’s most popular courses, Co-Active Coaching, will be offered in both Arabic and English from September 30 to October 16 and from October 1 to 17 respectively. This transformative six-part course focuses on drafting life purpose statements to gain perspective and draw maximised meaning from all dimensions of everyday living including family, friends, career, money and health.
In the Master Public Speaking and Overcome the Fear of Speaking in Public module, participants will acquire and hone their public speaking and presentation skills – a vital component of effective communication of core ideas – leaving them confident and resourceful in their approach to professional presentations. The five-part module will run between September 30 and October 14.
Finally, the How to Become a Social Entrepreneur course, scheduled for October 1 to 17, will use case study examination to discern this modern dimension of entrepreneurship with a focus on social and economic value creation in areas of human development, education, energy, health and sustainability. When placed within the regional and global context of contemporary market dynamics, this skillset can effectively advance new business models that transcend conventional models through an innovative approach.

نظمت كلية الهندسة في جامعة قطر لقاءً ترحيبياً لطلبة الدراسات العليا المقبولين في الكلية بغرض إطلاع الطلبة على أبرز إجراءات التسجيل، والخطط العامة، لبرامج الماجستير والدكتوراة، بالإضافة للإجابة عن أبرز الأسئلة التي تهم الطلبة.
حضر الحفل الدكتور عبدالمجيد حمودة عميد كلية الهندسة بالإنابة والأستاذ الدكتور عباس عميرة العميد المساعد للبحث العلمي والدراسات العليا، وعدد من رؤساء الأقسام، ومنسقى برامج الدراسات العليا وأعضاء هيئة التدريس في الكلية.
كما وتواجد في الحفل أعضاء هيئة التدريس المشرفين على البرامج وقدموا إجابات تفصيلية للطلبة عن أبرز المساقات المتوفرة لخريف 2018 وكذلك خطط البرامج للفصل الحالي، والآليات المطلوبة لتجهيز الأطروحات البحثية، وكذلك المتطلبات العامة لتجاوز مرحلتي الماجستير والدكتوراة.
يذكر أن كلية الهندسة قد قبلت لهذا الفصل 130 طالبا وطالبة في برامج الماجستير و25 طالب في برامج الدكتوراة.
وفي كلمته للطلبة الجدد، أكد الدكتور عميرة على سعي الكلية لتعزيز البنية التحتية للبحث العلمي في الكلية، بالإضافة لجذب واستقطاب أعضاء هيئة تدريس بمؤهلات بحثية عالمية، مع الحرص على التوأمة بين متطلبات القطاعين العام والخاص والبرامج المطروحة، والذي يعتمد على الشراكات الإستراتيجية مع المؤسسات في قطر وخارجها.
وأضاف “تعتبر برامج الدراسات العليا المحرك الأساس للبحث العلمي في أية جامعة، ومن هنا في إطار سعي جامعة قطر للتحول إلى جامعة بحثية، كان من الطبيعي اهتمامنا في كلية الهندسة بتوسعة نطاق برامج الدراسات العليا خلال السنوات القليلة الماضية، وذلك من خلال تبني آفاق جديدة من البحث العلمي، ذات صلة وثيقة برؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، والتي عليها بنت كلية الهندسة في جامعة قطر أولوياتها البحثية”.
وفي حديثه عن برامج الدراسات العليا المتوفرة في الكلية، قال الدكتور عميرة “تطرح الكلية 7 برامج ماجستير، بالإضافة إلى الدكتوراة في 12 تخصص في مجالات الهندسة والعمارة والحاسوب، وبرامج الماجستير والدكتوراة المطروحة هي: الدكتوراة في العمارة والدكتوراة في التخطيط العمراني والدكتوراة في الهندسة الكيميائية والدكتوراة في علوم الحاسب والدكتوراة في هندسة الحاسب والدكتوراة في الهندسة المدنية والدكتوراة في الهندسة الكهربائية والدكتوراة في الهندسة الصناعية والنظم والدكتوراة في الهندسة الميكانيكية والدكتوراه في الإدارة الهندسية والدكتوراة في الهندسة البيئية والدكتوراة في هندسة وعلوم المواد.”
وأضاف “وعلى صعيد برامج الماجستير، توفر الكلية برنامج ماجستير الهندسة المدنية وماجستير العلوم في الحوسبة وماجستير الهندسة الكهربائية وماجستير الإدارة الهندسية وماجستير الهندسة البيئية وماجستير الهندسة الميكانيكية وماجستير التخطيط والتصميم العمراني.”
وعلى صعيد التعاون مع الشركات الصناعية لدعم برامج الدراسات العليا، أكد الدكتور عميرة على أن كلية الهندسة تتمتع بعلاقات وطيدة ووثيقة مع الشركات الصناعية، حيث تقوم الشركات والمؤسسات المختلفة بترشيح خبراء للإشراف على أطروحات الدراسات العليا التي يقوم عليها الطلبة في الكلية، وهذه فرصة للإستفادة من الدعم الممنوح من الشركات لأطروحاتهم.
وختم بقوله “إن هذا الإقبال على الإلتحاق بالبرامج يأتي بسبب جودة مخرجات التعليم التي تتمتع بها الكلية لا سيما وأنها تتميز بين جامعات المنطقة بتنوع باقة البرامج المطروحة بالإضافة لاستقطابها للكفاءات العالمية ذات الخبرات المتميزة للإشراف على هذه البرامج.;
