Al Jazeera programme nominated for International Emmy Award

Al Jazeera English’s interactive news hour, ‘Newsgrid’, has been nominated for an International Emmy Award.

Newsgrid’s special in-depth analysis and reporting on the blockade imposed on Qatar by some neighbouring countries has been nominated for this prestigious award under the News & Current Affairs segment, Al Jazeera Media Network has said in a press statement.

One of the key demands by the blockading countries was calling for the closure of Al Jazeera Media Network, the statement notes.

The programme focused on the diplomatic efforts being taken to resolve the crisis, the economic and social impact on the people of the region, and how the international community came together to condemn the demand for the closure of Al Jazeera by the blockading countries.

In addition, Al Jazeera English’s ‘Fault Lines’, which covers US affairs and the role played by America in the wider world, has been nominated for five prestigious Emmy awards by the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – more nominations in 2018 than some of the leading industry competitors.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the 39th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York on November 19.

أعلنت الأكاديمية الأميركية للتلفزيون والفنون بنيويورك ترشيح النشرة التفاعلية لقناة الجزيرة الإنجليزية «نيوزغريد» لجائزة إيمي المرموقة عن فئة الأخبار وشؤون الساعة. وتركز النشرة التفاعلية «نيوزغريد» على رصد ما يتداوله رواد مواقع التواصل عن الأحداث اليومية، وتقديم تغطيات تفاعلية تشرك المشاهدين في صياغة الخبر، والتعليق على تداعياته.

ورشحت نشرة «نيوزغريد» عن التغطية الخاصة التي أعدها فريق البرنامج بعد مرور 100 يوم من حصار قطر من قبل دول خليجية مجاورة. والتي كان من بين مطالبها الرئيسية إغلاق شبكة الجزيرة الإعلامية.

وركزت التغطية على المساعي الدبلوماسية لحل الأزمة الخليجية، والتداعيات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للحصار وتأثيره على سكان المنطقة. والتنديد الدولي الواسع بمطلب إغلاق الجزيرة ووقف بثها.

وكانت قناة الجزيرة الإنجليزية قد حصدت 5 ترشيحات أخرى لجوائز «إيمي» هذا العام عن سلسلة «فولت لاينز» الوثائقية التي تركز على تغطية الأحداث التي تجري في أميركا، والقضايا التي تهم المشاهد في الولايات المتحدة. وتفوقت الشبكة على عدد كبير من المحطات والمؤسسات الإعلامية المنافسة.

وستعلن أسماء الفائزين بجوائز «إيمي» لهذا العام في حفل خاص يقام في 19 نوفمبر المقبل بمدينة نيويورك، بحضور ممثلي المؤسسات والقنوات المتنافسة على جوائز الدورة التاسعة والثلاثين.;
