Qatari Diar breaks ground on 1bn Pound Rosewood Hotel in London
الديار القطرية تبني فندقا بـ 1.32 مليار دولار بمبنى السفارة الأمريكية السابقة في لندن
Qatari Diar announced Wednesday that it has broken ground at 30 Grosvenor Square, the former site of the historic US Embassy, as it commences construction on London’s second Rosewood hotel in the heart of Mayfair.
The total cost of the project will reach one billion Pound Sterling. The world-class hotel will comprise 137 guest rooms, five restaurants, six flagship retail units, a spa and a ballroom with space for 1,000 guests, at the prestigious and historic location.
Prominent British architect, Sir David Chipperfield, will breathe new life into the Grade II listed building whilst retaining the unique external façade to reimagine the spirit of its original pioneering architect Eero Saarinen. The new design will delicately showcase the mid-20th century heritage of the building, combining traditional and contemporary craftsmanship through exquisite and refined interiors.
Qatari Diar CEO Abdullah al-Attiyah said: “Today, as we break ground at 30 Grosvenor Square, marks a momentous occasion for Qatari Diar. The opportunity to transform such an iconic address is something that only happens once in a lifetime and we are extremely proud to be responsible for it. We recognise the history of the building and are dedicated to sensitively redeveloping the former US Embassy into a new destination on Grosvenor Square.”
He also stressed Qatari Diar’s commitment to working alongside the Grosvenor Estate to improve the public realm surrounding the new Rosewood hotel. In doing so the development will enhance the historical expansive green space of Grosvenor Square.
President at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts Radha Arora commented on the announcement and said: “Today marks a new milestone in our London journey as we work with Qatari Diar to deliver our second hotel in this vibrant city and further expand our regional presence in Europe. The project is set to be completed in 2023.
أقامت شركة الديار القطرية للتطوير العقاري حدثاً احتفالياً في ساحة جروفينور في لندن إيذاناً ببدء أعمال البناء لفندق Rosewood الذي كان فى السابق مبنى سفارة الولايات المتحدة في قلب حي مايفير.
وتقدر قيمة المشروع بمليار جنيه استرليني اي ما يعادل 1.320 مليار دولار ومن المتوقع ان يتم استكماله وافتتاحه عام 2023 بإذن الله.
ويتألف الفندق العالمي من 137 غرفة فندقية، وخمسة مطاعم ، وست وحدات تجزئة رئيسية ، ومنتجع صحي وقاعة احتفالات ومؤتمرات تتسع لنحو 1000شخص، اضافة لتميز الفندق بموقع تاريخي مرموق في العاصمة لندن.
وسيقوم المهندس المعماري البريطاني البارز، السيد دافيد شيبرفيلد ، بإحياء هذا المبنى التاريخي الذي يصنف كمبنى محمي من الدرجة الثانية مع المحافظة على الواجهة الخارجية الفريدة من نوعها التي قام بتصميمها سابقاً المهندس المعماري إيرو سارنين.
وسيقوم التصميم الجديد على إبراز تراث المبنى في منتصف القرن العشرين ، والجمع بين الحرفية التقليدية والمعاصرة من خلال التصميمات الداخلية الراقية.
وقال م. عبدالله بن حمد العطية ، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة الديار القطرية قائلاً:”الديار القطرية فى غاية الفخر لتحظى بفرصة تطوير هذا المبنى المميز وتدرك قيمة وتاريخ هذا المبنى العريق وستكرس جهودها ليكون معلماً انشائياً ووجهة جديدة في ساحة جروفينر”.
وتلتزم شركة الديار القطرية بالعمل جنباً إلى جنب مع Grosvenor Estate لتحسين المنطقة العامة المحيطة بفندق Rosewood الجديد مما يعزز تطوير المساحة الخضراء التاريخية الممتدة في ساحة جروفينور.
