Qatar offers 50 million riyals to support university students in Gaza
قطر تقدّم 50 مليون ريال لدعم طلبة الجامعات في غزة
A Palestinian government university in the Gaza Strip on Saturday honored His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, with an honorary doctorate in recognition of his support for the Palestinian people in various fields.
Kamal Al-Sharafi, President of Al-Aqsa University in Gaza, delivered an honorary doctorate to HE Mohamed Bin Ismail Al Emadi, Chairman of the Qatar National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, during his visit to the University yesterday. “We offer an honorary doctorate to His Highness the Emir of Qatar and to stand by our people in its siege and offer these relief projects,” Shrafi told Anatolia.
He added: «The value of what the university received from the Qatari grant to free the certificates of students detained; because of their inability to pay the fees owed, $ 540 thousand». Al-Shorafi pointed out that this is the second time that Qatar grants scholarships to students.
For its part, the Qatar National Reconstruction Committee announced that it has provided a grant of 50 million Qatari riyals to pay tuition fees to university students in the sector.
“The State of Qatar has been and continues to be a pioneer in supporting the people of the Gaza Strip through a wide range of vital and service projects that have helped thousands of graduates and workers to reduce unemployment,” said Ambassador Mohammed bin Ismail Al Emadi, head of the Qatar National Reconstruction Committee.
In a speech at a ceremony held today at the headquarters of Al-Aqsa University in Gaza City, he expressed his gratitude for the “Qatar State Relief Grant to the Residents of the Gaza Strip”.
منحت جامعة حكومية فلسطينية في قطاع غزة، أمس السبت، حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، شهادة دكتوراه فخرية؛ «تقديراً لدعمه للشعب الفلسطيني في عدة مجالات».
وسلّم كمال الشرافي -رئيس جامعة الأقصى في غزة- شهادة الدكتوراه الفخرية، لسعادة السفير محمد بن إسماعيل العمادي رئيس اللجنة القطرية لإعادة إعمار غزة، خلال زيارته للجامعة أمس. وقال الشرافي لوكالة «الأناضول»: نقدم شهادة الدكتوراه الفخرية لصاحب السمو وفاءً لقطر حكومة وشعباً، ولوقوفها إلى جانب شعبنا في حصاره، وتقديمها هذه المشاريع الإغاثية».
وأضاف: «قيمة ما حصلت عليه الجامعة من المنحة القطرية لتحرير شهادات الطلبة المحتجزة؛ لعدم قدرتهم على دفع الرسوم المستحقة، 540 ألف دولار». وأشار الشرافي إلى أن هذه المرة الثانية التي تقدم فيها قطر منحاً للطلبة.
من جانبها أعلنت اللجنة القطرية لإعادة إعمار غزة أنها قدّمت منحة بقيمة 50 مليون ريال قطري مخصصة لسداد الرسوم الدراسية لطلبة الجامعات في القطاع.
ونوّه سعادة السفير محمد بن إسماعيل العمادي -رئيس اللجنة القطرية لإعادة إعمار غزة- بأن دولة قطر كانت ولا تزال رائدة في دعم أهالي قطاع غزة، عبر مجموعة ضخمة من المشاريع الحيوية والخدماتية، التي ساهمت في تشغيل آلاف الخريجين والعمال لتقليل نسبة البطالة.
وقد عبّر سعادته عن ذلك في كلمة له خلال حفل أُقيم اليوم في مقر جامعة الأقصى بمدينة غزة، حول «منحة دولة قطر الإغاثية لسكان قطاع غزة».
