Qatar Cool starts operations in Qatar Rail project

Qatar Cool has announced that it has started work on the Qatar Rail project in line a contract signed between the two parties.

The co-operation between Qatar Rail and Qatar Cool commenced in 2015, with the contract comprising the provision of district cooling in seven stations spanning from The Pearl-Qatar to West Bay – Legtaifiya, Katara, Al Qassar, Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, West Bay, Corniche and Al Bidda stations, Qatar Cool said in a press statement on Wednesday.

Yasser al-Jaidah, CEO of Qatar Cool, said: “Qatar Cool’s foremost emphasis is on providing a sustainable energy solution to the country to support future infrastructure. The implementation of district cooling in projects such as the railway network solidifies our commitment to the environment and society.

“District cooling is often misrepresented or misunderstood, it is observed from a fiscal aspect where the real emphasis needs to be on the return on investment. Qatar has an ambitious growth plan around Qatar National Vision 2030. To achieve the best possible outcomes and ensure longevity of the new developments, alternative advanced technologies need to be applied, such as district cooling.”

Sustainability is on the rise in Qatar, with new and old projects alike making radical changes to safeguard the fortification and sustainability of the country, the statement notes. “Qatar Cool aims to continue to be a part of this change and foresees a positive future.”

Qatar Rail managing director and CEO Abdulla Abdulaziz T al-Subaie said, “Qatar Rail has always sought to work with local suppliers and partners on every aspect of its projects to achieve the implementation of a sustainable railway network. Having our future Doha Metro passengers in mind, it is evident that their needs remain at the forefront of all our decisions – whether related to stations design and facilities, or any technical and functional elements that would secure their ultimate comfort throughout their Metro experience.

“We have the pleasure to co-operate with Qatar Cool to provide seven stations on the project with a district cooling system that will not only withstand the hot weather during the peak summer in Doha, but also contribute to protecting the environment by increasing energy efficiency and reducing environmental emissions, saving electricity and evidently benefiting from a much more cost-efficient cooling service.”

في إطار تعاونها مع شركة سكك الحديد القطرية «الرّيل»، واستراتيجيتها الدّاعمة لتوسيع نطاق انتشار خدمة تبريد المناطق في الدولة لخلق مستقبل مستدام، أعلنت شركة «قطر كوول» عن بدء تشغيل نظام تبريد المناطق في محطة القصار، وهي أول محطة من محطات مترو الدوحة يتم تشغيل النظام فيها، من ما مجموعه سبع محطات تم الاتفاق عليها، ضمن العقد الذي أبرم ما بين الشركتين في عام 2015.

ويتضمّن العقد تزويد خدمة تبريد المناطق لسبع محطات، تمتد من اللؤلؤة إلى الخليج الغربي (وهي محطات: لقطيفية، كتارا، القصّار، مركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات، الخليج الغربي، الكورنيش، والبدع).

علّق السيد ياسر الجيده -الرئيس التنفيذي لـ «قطر كوول»- على هذا الحدث قائلاً: «تركّز «قطر كوول» بشكل أساسي على توفير حلول الطاقة المستدامة إلى البلاد، لدعم البنية التحتية المستقبلية، كما أن تطبيق التبريد المناطقي على مشاريع -مثل شبكة سكك الحديد- يعزّز التزامنا نحو البيئة والمجتمع». وأضاف قائلاً: «غالباً ما يتم تفسير أو فهم نظام تبريد المناطق بشكل خاطئ، إذ يتم النظر إليه من الناحية المالية، في حين يجب أن يكون التركيز على الإيرادات من الاستثمار، إذ تسعى قطر إلى تطبيق خطة إنمائية طموحة، تماشياً مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، ولتحقيق أفضل النتائج المرجوّة، وضمان استمرارية المشاريع التطويرية الجديدة، لا بدّ من تطبيق وسائل تكنولوجيّة متطورة وبديلة، مثل نظام تبريد المناطق».

تشهد قطر تزايداً في تطبيق معايير الاستدامة، إذ تلجأ العديد من المشاريع القديمة والجديدة -على حد سواء- إلى إدخال تغييرات جذرية، لتعزيز الالتزام بمعايير الاستدامة.

وتهدف «قطر كوول» إلى الاستمرار في المشاركة بهذا التغيير، وتتطلّع إلى تحقيق مستقبل إيجابي.

وتعليقاً على هذا التعاون، قال المهندس عبدالله عبدالعزيز السبيعي -العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لـ «الريّل»-: «تحرص شركة «الرّيل» على العمل مع الموردين، والشركاء المحليين، لتنفيذ مشروع شبكة السكك الحديدية، ويمثل نظام التبريد بالمناطق الخيار الأمثل بالنسبة لنا، كونه نظام مستدام، وصديق للبيئة، ما يتوافق مع مزايا نظام النقل بالسكك الحديدية، كما أن تقديم تجربة تنقل مميزة ومتكاملة للمستخدمين هو هدفنا الأساسي، وتوفير أفضل نظم التبريد، وأكثرها كفاءة في المحطات، يعد من أحد أهم العوامل التي تساعد على تعزيز تجربة المستخدم.

يسرنا البدء بتشغيل أولى محطات مترو الدوحة، ضمن تعاوننا المشترك مع شركة «قطر كوول» في المشروع، ونتطلع إلى تشغيل المحطات المتبقية في المستقبل القريب».;
