Ashghal Opens New Flyover on Bani Hajer Interchange
افتتاح جسر علوي جديد بتقاطع بني هاجر ليوفر تدفقاً مرورياً حراً بين الدوحة والريان
As part of Khalifa Avenue project, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ opened, on Saturday, 28 July 2018, a new flyover on Bani Hajer Interchange that will provide free flow traffic coming from Doha towards Al Rayyan.
The flyover will largely ensure less transit time and create better traffic since road users on Khalifa Avenue can have a direct access to Al Rayyan Road, sparing the diversions existed in the area around.
The new overpass is 1.15 Kilometres long and comprises two lanes accommodating 1500 vehicles per hour that will alleviate traffic pressure and improve movement in the local surroundings and the congested and populous areas there like Bani Hajer, Al Gharrafa and Al Rayyanas as well as serve various vital businesses and facilities like Qatar Foundation’s Education City where thousands of students head for diverse colleges.
On this occasion, Ashghal’s Highway Department Project Engineer Abdullah Qassim stressed that accomplishing the flyover that connects traffic from Doha with Al Rayyan is part of several openings that happened on Khalifa Avenue project, indicating that up to now Ashghal had opened 6.1 kilometres, Gharrafat Al Rayyan Roundabout along with major parts of Bani Hajer Interchange.
“The new flyover comes after consecutive openings of Bani Hajer Interchange, meanwhile minor sections are not fulfilled yet, including the link road from Dukhan towards Al Rayyan along with the Camel Bridge”, he added.
“Khalifa Avenue is a key connection, and the new bridge will enhance traffic mobility in the congested and populous area there as well as serve various vital businesses and facilities like Qatar Foundation’s Education City where thousands of students head for diverse colleges”
It is noteworthy that approximately 70% of Khalifa Avenue construction works have been accomplished, and the whole project is due to be completed by Q1, 2020.

Bani Hajer Interchange Benefits
Having a vital location, the Public Works Authority converted Bani Hajer Roundabout into a three-level interchange that created free movement to approximately 1500 vehicles per hour. As a result, the junction has become a key access point for three major arteries of Khalifa Avenue, Dukhan Road, and Al Rayyan Road along with the populated areas around.
Ashghal had opened sections of Bani Hajer Interchange, involving an underpass, which links Bani Hajer with Al Rayyan and a 1.3 km Link Bridge between Al Rayyan and Dukhan.
Ashghal also opened two right ramps, one receives travellers coming from Doha to Bani Hajer via Khalifa Avenue and the other leads travellers coming from Bani Hajer to Dukhan via Al Shahama Street.
Two more loops connecting with Bani Hajer Underpass were opened to link traffic coming from Dukhan to Bani Hajer and from Bani Hajer to Doha in addition to a right turn to exit commuters coming from Al Rayyan Road to Khalifa Avenue towards Doha.

The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, had also opened in December 2017, a 3.1 kilometre-long section of the main carriageway of Khalifa Avenue that stretches from west of Tilted Interchange to east of Bani Hajer Interchange.
The opening alleviated traffic congestion on the main road and the local approaches in Al Gharrafa and Bani Hajer and improving traffic movement for the residents there.
Ashghal also opened Al Wajba Bridge after upgrading the old bridge from two lanes to three lanes, allowing for better traffic flow.

A uniquely designed roundabout opened; the main road which is the straight section for traffic on Khalifa Avenue goes through the centre of the signal-controlled roundabout. The interchange links north Gharrafat Al Rayyan Street, south Qatar Foundation and west and east of Al Luqta Street.
Khalifa Avenue project runs from the Al-Wajbah Palace Interchange (west) to the Tilted Interchange (east) and along Al-Gharrafa Road from Al-Rayyan Street (south) to Thani bin Jassim Street (north).
The project works include the construction of approximately 11.6 km of dual carriageway with four lanes in each direction replacing a three-lane way besides seven major free-flowing interchanges, service roads, and auxiliary lanes along sections of the road and cycle, pedestrian and camel lanes.

وتشير “أشغال” إلى أن افتتاح جسر تقاطع بني هاجر سيعمل على خفض زمن التنقل بشكل كبير وتحسين حركة السير، حيث يستطيع مستخدمو طريق خليفة أفنيو الوصول مباشرة إلى طريق الريان دون الحاجة لاستخدام التحويلات الموجودة في المنطقة.
وتنوه “أشغال” بأن الجسر الجديد يبلغ طوله نحو 1,15 كيلومتر ويتألف من مسارين ليستوعب نحو أكثر من 1500 مركبة في الساعة وهو ما يخفف من الضغط المروري على التقاطع ويحقق انسابية كبيرة في الشوارع المحلية والمناطق المحيطة مثل بني هاجر والغرافة فضلا عن الريان والتي تتسم بالزحام المروري والكثافة السكانية الكبيرة، كما يخدم عدد من المرافق الحيوية في المنطقة وعلى رأسها مؤسسة قطر والمدينة التعليمية والتي تتضمن العديد من الجامعات الذي يرتادها الآلاف يومياً.
من جهته، أكد عبدالله قاسم، مهندس المشروع بإدارة الطرق السريعة بأشغال، أن افتتاح الجسر الذي يربط الحركة المرورية القادمة من الدوحة باتجاه الريان يأتي في إطار ما بدأته “أشغال” من افتتاحات بطريق خليفة أفنيو، مشيراً إلى أن “أشغال” افتتحت حتى الآن نحو 6,1 كيلومتر من طريق خليفة أفنيو ودوار تقاطع غرافة الريان وجسر الوجبة فضلاً عن افتتاح أجزاء كبيرة من تقاطع بني هاجر.
وأضاف أن افتتاح الجسر الجديد جاء بعد افتتاحات متعاقبة لأجزاء بتقاطع بني هاجر مشيراً في الوقت نفسه إلى أن ثمة أجزاء محدودة لم تكتمل أعمالها بعد مثل الطريق الرابط بين الحركة المرورية القادمة من دخان في اتجاه الريان بالإضافة إلى جسر الجمال.
الجدير بالذكر أنه تم إنجاز نحو 70% من مشروع طريق خليفة أفنيو والذي من المزمع الانتهاء منه في الربع الأول من 2020.

تقاطع بني هاجر
نظراً لموقعه الحيوي، قامت هيئة الأشغال العامة بتحويل دوار بني هاجر إلى تقاطع يتكون من ثلاث مستويات ليوفر تدفقاً مرورياً حراً وبقدرة استيعابية تصل إلى 1500 مركبة في الساعة، وأصبح التقاطع بمثابة حلقة وصل رئيسية بين شرايين رئيسية وهي طريق خليفة أفنيو وطريق دخان وطريق الريان ليخدم مناطق ذات كثافة سكانية مرتفعة.
كانت هيئة الأشغال العامة افتتحت أجزاء من تقاطع بني هاجر مطلع 2018 حيث افتتحت نفق تقاطع بني هاجر الذي يربط الريان بمنطقة بني هاجر السكنية إلى جانب فتح الجسر الرابط بين الريان و دخان بإجمالي طول 1,3 كيلومتر.
كما افتتحت “أشغال” ثلاثة مسارات توفر مخارج أمام المرور القادم من الدوحة عبر طريق خليفة أفنيو في اتجاه بني هاجر من جهة وكذلك المرور القادم من بني هاجر عبر شارع الشهامة في اتجاه دخان وأيضاً المرور القادم من طريق الريان إلى طريق خليفة أفنيو في اتجاه الدوحة.
كما تم افتتاح مخرجين التفافين يتصلان بنفق بني هاجر أمام الحركة المرورية القادمة من دخان في اتجاه بني هاجر والحركة المرورية القادمة من بني هاجر في اتجاه الدوحة.
طريق خليفة أفنيو
كانت هيئة الأشغال العامة افتتحت في ديسمبر 2017 أولى مراحل مشروع طريق خليفة أفنيو والتي تضمنت جزءاً من المسار الرئيسي بطول حوالي ثلاثة كيلومترات تمتد في المسافة ما بين غرب تقاطع المائل وشرق تقاطع بني هاجر، حيث يشمل الطريق أربع مسارات في كل اتجاه بطول 7,3 كيلومتر، ما يعمل على تعزيز السيولة المرورية بالطريق والطرق المحلية بالمناطق المحيطة مثل الغرافة وبني هاجر وتحسين الحركة المرورية أمام سكان تلك المناطق، كما تم زيادة عدد مسارات جسر الوجبة لتصبح ثلاثة مسارات بدلاً من مسارين، وهو ما ساهم في زيادة التدفق المروري في الطريق.
وتضمنت هذه المرحلة أيضاً افتتاح دوار بإشارات ضوئية ضمن أعمال تقاطع غرافة الريان، ويتخذ هذا الدوار تصميماً مختلفاً عن الدوارات المعهودة، حيث يشق منتصفه الطريق الرئيسي لخليفة أفنيو ليسهل الحركة المرورية. ويربط التقاطع شارع غرافة الريان شمالاً ومؤسسة قطر جنوباً وشارع اللقطة شرقاً وغرباً.
ويشمل مشروع خليفة أفنيو إنشاء طريق مزدوج جديد بأربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه بدلاً من ثلاثة مسارات في كل اتجاه بإجمالي طول 11,6 كيلومتر ليمتد من تقاطع قصر الوجبة في الغرب وحتى تقاطع المائل في الشرق، وعلى امتداد طريق الغرافة من طريق الريان في الجنوب وحتى شارع ثاني بن جاسم في الشمال.
كما يتضمن المشروع إنشاء سبعة تقاطعات رئيسية متعددة المستويات، وإنشاء طرق الخدمات على جانبي الطريق، ومسارات إضافية في بعض أجزاء الطريق فضلاً عن مسارات للدراجات والمشاة وأخرى للجمال.
