Advisory Council Speaker visits Doha Metro and mega strategic reservoirs project in Al Thumama

HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud and a number of the council’s members on Tuesday visited the Doha Metro project, where they were briefed on the work progress and the stages completed.

The Advisory Council delegation led by HE al-Mahmoud also visited the mega strategic reservoirs project in Al Thumama, and learned about the operational mechanism and modern technologies used in the project.

In press statements, HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council said what he saw during the two visits was a source of pride and confidence, and reaffirmed the ability of the people of Qatar to make achievements and turn ambitions into reality, despite the unjust siege imposed on the country.

He hailed the wisdom, the directives and follow-up of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani who adopted a sound and thoughtful planning approach in the conduct of State affairs, and a comprehensive strategic vision as a path to development, modernisation, achievement and securing the future for the future generations.

HE the Advisory Council Speaker underlined that the Doha Metro, which is considered one of the most advanced transport projects in the region and uses the latest technology in this field, is a great addition to the country’s achievements, and sends a strong message to anyone trying to obstruct the development process in the country by marginal battles away from the basic objectives of building, progress, glory and serve the homeland.

HE al-Mahmoud also praised the mega strategic reservoirs project, whose first phase was commissioned by His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani last Thursday. He noted that the reservoirs project, which is the largest of its kind in the world, will provide the country’s water needs in the present and future, thereby contributing to food security and water development requirements.

HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council expressed, in his name and on behalf of the members of the council, appreciation for the efforts exerted by the honorable government and its implementation of development plans and major projects to achieve the interests of the homeland and the citizens, with all efficiency and ability despite the conditions of the siege.

قام وفد من مجلس الشورى، برئاسة سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى أمس، بزيارة إلى مشروع مترو الدوحة، وذلك للاطلاع على سير الأعمال، والتعرف على آخر الإنجازات التي تحققت على صعيد المشروع.

وخلال الجولة، قام الوفد بزيارة المحطة الاقتصادية، بالإضافة إلى رحلة قصيرة على متن قطار المترو إلى محطة راس أبوفنطاس، فضلاً عن زيارة مركز الصيانة الرئيسي لمترو الدوحة، ومبنى التحكم الرئيسي لشبكات المترو، للاطلاع على أنظمة المراقبة والتحكم والتشغيل المركزية.

اعتزاز

وبهذه المناسبة، قال سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله آل محمود، رئيس مجلس الشورى: «هذا المشروع يبعث على الاعتزاز والاطمئنان على المستقبل، ويؤكد قدرة أبناء الوطن على صنع الإنجازات وتحويل الطموحات إلى واقع ملموس رغم الحصار الجائر المفروض على البلاد».

وأضاف سعادته، خلال تصريحات صحافية: «إن مشروع مترو الدوحة -والذي يُعدّ من أكثر مشروعات النقل تقدماً في المنطقة، ويستخدم أحدث ما وصلت إليه التكنولوجيا في هذا المجال- يُعتبر إضافة كبرى إلى إنجازات البلاد، ودرساً قوياً لكل من يحاول تعويق مسيرتنا التنموية وإشغالنا بمعارك جانبية وهامشية عن قضايانا الأساسية في البناء والتقدم ورفعة الوطن وخدمة المواطن».

ومن جانبه، قال المهندس عبدالله عبدالعزيز السبيعي، العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة «الريل»: «لقد قطعنا شوطاً كبيراً في تنفيذ مشروع السكك الحديدية، حيث نواصل اختبارات القطارات التجريبية، ونتوقع بحلول نهاية العام إتمام معظم الأعمال في المحطات. وبذلك، نحن على وشك دخول المرحلة التشغيلية، والتي تتطلب منا استعدادات مكثفة وجهداً مضاعفاً لتحقيق الهدف الذي نعمل من أجله، وهو تقديم نظام نقل يرقى إلى أعلى المستويات العالمية».

إنجاز

وبدوره، أوضح السيد عبدالرحمن علي الملك -مدير مشروع مترو الدوحة- أن المشروع في مرحلة متقدمة، حيث أُنجز نحو 84 % من إجمالي الأعمال بالمشروع، كما جرى تسلّم 43 قطاراً يجري حالياً خضوعهم لمرحلة الاختبارات والمحطات في مرحلة التشطيبات المعمارية.

والجدير بالذكر أن محطة المنطقة الاقتصادية تقع عند تقاطع الطريق الدائري السادس وطريق الوكرة، وتتسع لاستيعاب 15 ألف راكب في الساعة. وستكون المحطة بمنزلة المحور الرئيسي للمنطقة الاقتصادية في راس أبوفنطاس؛ نظراً لوقوعها بالقرب من مطار حمد الدولي.;
