Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al Thani appointed to ICC Court of Arbitration
ثاني بن علي ممثلاً لقطر في محكمة التحكيم بغرفة التجارة الدولية
DOHA: The World Council of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has appointed Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al Thani (pictured), to the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC, one of the World’s most experienced and renowned international arbitration institutions. The appointment is effective from July 1, 2018 for the following 3 years (2018-2021).
“I am delighted and honoured to serve in this role, to make an effective contribution to the quality and efficiency of services provided by the ICC Court and I look forward to working with the other members of the Court from around the globe,” said Sheikh Al Thani.
He added, “This appointment comes at a very favorable timing as Qatar has modernised recently its law on arbitration in 2017 and has encouraged the use of alternative means to resolve commercial disputes and raising trust and confidence in investment”.
Founded in 1923, the International Court of Arbitration is the world’s leading arbitral institution. It administers arbitrations in accordance with the ICC Rules of Arbitration, and helps resolve difficulties in international commercial and business disputes to support trade and investment. The ICC Court is located in Paris and has a membership that currently totals 176 individuals from 104 countries.
قرر المجلس العالمي لغرفة التجارة الدولية (ICC) في اجتماعه السنوي تعيين الشيخ الدكتور المحامي ثاني بن علي آل ثاني عضواً وممثلا لدولة قطر بمحكمة التحكيم بغرفة التجارة الدولية لمدة ثلاث سنوات .
من جهته كشف سعادة الشيخ ثاني بن علي آل ثاني بأنه سوف يشارك في أعمال المحكمة وأنشطتها المختلفة ممثلاً لدولة قطر، بالتعاون مع أعضائها الآخرين المنتسبين إلى 104 دول مختلفة.
وأشاد سعادته بالإطار القانوني للتحكيم في دولة قطر، في ظل قانون التحكيم في المواد المدنية والتجارية الصادر بالقانون رقم 2 لعام 2017، ومدى تماشيه مع الاتجاهات الحديثة في التحكيم، وانطباقه مع لائحة التحكيم الصادرة في نفس العام من محكمة التحكيم الدولية بباريس.
يشار إلى أن محكمة التحكيم بغرفة التجارة الدولية قد تم تأسيسها عام 1923 وتعمل وفقاً للائحة من قواعد التحكيم الإجرائية تم تعديلها عام 2017 وتنظم سنوياً المئات من ملفات النزاعات ذات الطابع الاقتصادي والتجاري والمصرفي وغير ذلك .
وتعتبر محكمة التحكيم لغرفة التجارة الدولية بباريس من أهم وأقدم مراكز التحكيم المؤسسية في العالم والتي تمتاز بخبرتها الطويلة في مجال تسوية المنازعات التجارية الكبرى.
