Qatar takes part in Nato Defence Ministers’ meeting on Afghan mission
قطر تشارك في اجتماع وزراء دفاع دول “الناتو” بشأن عملية “الدعم الحازم” بأفغانستان
Brussels: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, H E Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, took part in the meeting of Defence Ministers of countries contributing troops to Nato’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, which was held in the headquarter of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) in Brussels yesterday.
The meeting addressed the extension of the financial commitments required to fund the Afghan security forces until 2024, how to fill the gap in the numbers of troops required to participate in the Resolute Support mission and reviewing the political and security situation in Afghanistan, as well as formulating common vision between the conflicting parties.
Dr Al Attiyah delivered a speech during the meeting in which he pointed out that the State of Qatar is still providing the ground for dialogue between the conflicting parties to reach a reconciliation that supports Afghanistan in its stability.
He added that the State of Qatar would have been able to provide more that what it actually did, unless for the illegal siege imposed on it.
The meeting was attended by HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium and Representative to EU and Nato, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi; HE Qatar Defence Attache in Belgium and a number of Qatar Armed forces senior officers.
شارك سعادة الدكتور خالد بن محمد العطية نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الدولة لشؤون الدفاع اليوم، في اجتماع وزراء الدفاع لدول حلف شمال الأطلسي المشاركة في عملية “الدعم الحازم” في جمهورية أفغانستان الإسلامية، والذي عقد في منظمة حلف شمال الأطلسي (الناتو) في العاصمة البلجيكية بروكسل.
تناول الاجتماع تمديد الالتزامات المالية المطلوبة لتمويل القوات الأمنية الأفغانية حتى عام 2024، وكيفية سد العجز في أعداد الأفراد المطلوبين للمشاركة في عملية /الدعم الحازم/، ومراجعة الأوضاع السياسية والأمنية في أفغانستان، بالإضافة إلى تقديم المقترحات المتعلقة بالحوار بين الأطراف المتنازعة.
وألقى سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الدولة لشؤون الدفاع كلمة خلال الاجتماع أشار فيها إلى أن دولة قطر ما زالت توفر الأرضية للحوار بين الأطراف المتنازعة للوصول إلى مصالحة تدعم أفغانستان في استقرارها.
وأضاف سعادته أن دولة قطر كان يمكن لها تقديم أكثر مما تم تقديمه لولا الحصار الغير قانوني المفروض عليها.
حضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد عبدالرحمن بن محمد الخليفي سفير دولة قطر لدى مملكة بلجيكا ورئيس بعثة دولة قطر لدى الاتحاد الأوروبي وحلف (الناتو) وسعادة العميد الركن عبدالهادي بن مبارك الهاجري الملحق العسكري القطري لدى بلجيكا وحلف (الناتو) وعدد من كبار ضباط القوات المسلحة القطرية.
