Kahramaa opens third power substation for metro project

DOHA: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has opened third power substation at a cost of about QR100m to supply electricity to Gold Line of Doha Metro of Qatar Rail at Al Waab.

“After a year of unjust siege imposed on Qatar, we are celebrating the completion of third out of five power substations which are being built by Kahramaa for Qatar Rail,” said Kahramaa President, Eng Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.

He said that Kahramaa is able to expand the service if needed in future for rail projects, adding that Kahramaa is committed to complete the projects on given time. “The project ‘Al Waab City Metro Substation’ with the capacity of 132/33 KV is one of the five substations which are being implemented by Kahramaa for Qatar Rail to supply Doha Metro at a total cost of QR700m,” said Ahmad Al Kuwari, Head of the Projects Section at Kahramaa.

Al Kuwari was speaking with media persons on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the new substation.

He said that first substation for Qatar Rail was opened at Ras Abu Fantas in July 2017 and second substation at Lusail was commissioned in March 2018.

“Next substation, the fourth one will be opened soon at west of Doha and fifth substation with car parking facilities is expected to be operational in mid 2019,” said Al Kuwari.

Kahramaa is proud to supply power to Doha Metro as per its requirement as Kahramaa is a main partner in the developmental projects taking place in the country, said Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.

“Doha Metro stations were given priority in awarding projects, it was one of the challenges for Kahramaa which was implemented at highest standards successfully,” said Al Kuwari.

He said that the power substations for Doha Metro are equipped with special technology to ensure power supply in any emergency situation.

The sub power station of Al Waab, is part of the 12th phase of the electric transmission network expansion project in Qatar.

“Kahramaa is following global stander of safety and security measures at its all operation as 816,000 man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) during the implementation of the project of Al Waab City Metro Substation,” said Ahmad Al Kuwari, Head of the Projects Section at Kahramaa. He said that the work continued for 30 months.

He said that Kahramaa gives top priority to the welfare of workers to improve their living condition considering them partners of development.

أعلنت المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء “كهرماء” اليوم عن بدء تشغيل محطة كهرباء الوعب سيتي مترو ضمن مشروع مترو الدوحة والتي تنفذها كهرماء لصالح شركة سكك الحديد القطرية “الريل”.

وتعد محطة الوعب سيتي مترو والتي تقع في منطقة الوعب جزء من محطات المرحلة الثانية عشرة لمشروع توسعة شبكة النقل الكهربائي بدولة قطر وتم ترسيتها في 2016، وتبلغ التكلفة الإجمالية للمشروع حوالي 100 مليون ريال.

وفي هذا الاطار ، صرح المهندس عيسى بن هلال الكواري رئيس كهرماء أن المؤسسة تفخر بتزويد مشروع مترو الدوحة بجميع احتياجاته من الكهرباء، وذلك انطلاقاً من دور كهرماء كشريك رئيسي في مشاريع التنمية التي تشهدها البلاد.

وأوضح أنه تم إعطاء محطات مترو الدوحة الأولوية في ترسية المشاريع كواحد من التحديات المنوطة بكهرماء والتي نجحت في تنفيذه بأعلى معايير الجودة، حيث روعي في محطات مشروع مترو الدوحة المتطلبات الفنية الخاصة باستخدام تكنولوجيا تضمن استمرار الطاقة الكهربائية في الحالة الطارئة.

وأضاف الكواري أنه مع مرور عام على الحصار الجائر الذي تتعرض له دولة قطر فإن كهرماء تحتفل بإنجاز ثالث محطة من خمس محطات كهرباء تنفذها لشركة سكك الحديد القطرية” مؤكداً أن المؤسسة لديها القدرة لتزويد أية توسعة مستقبلية لمشروع الريل. كما جدد التزام المؤسسة بتنفيذ مشاريع البنية التحتية وفق الجدول الزمني المحدد.

وتنفذ كهرماء خمس محطات كهرباء لشركة الريل لتزويد مشروع مترو الدوحة بجميع احتياجاته من الكهرباء بتكلفة إجمالية حوالي 700 مليون ريال ، وقد تم تشغيل محطة راس أبوفنطاس أولى المحطات في يوليو 2017 كما تم تشغيل محطة لوسيل في مارس 2018 وسيتم تشغيل محطة غرب الدوحة قريباً، بالإضافة إلى محطة البدع والتي تشمل مواقف سيارات والمخطط تشغيلها في النصف الثاني من 2019.
