Milaha deploys Robotic Process Automation solution

DOHA: Milaha, a Qatar-based maritime transport and logistics conglomerate, became one of the first companies in the Middle East to deploy and integrate Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions in its back office operations.

The new state-of-the-art system, codenamed “Tam” by Milaha — which means “consider it done” in Qatari dialect — mimics human activities using software robots and artificial intelligence to perform clerical tasks and functions such as entry, processing, and transfer of data.

Commenting on the deployment of the new system, Milaha’s President and CEO. Abdulrahman Essa Al Mannai. said: “The introduction of RPA into our operations is part of a company-wide initiative to automate the workplace with the ultimate goal of maximizing our efficiency and accuracy, and we are proud to be one of the first Qatari companies to adopt such cutting-edge technology. “Tam” will also free up our staff to focus on complex higher-value tasks, decision-making, and client engagement. On the other hand, our automation drive directly contributes to the creation of a knowledge-based economy, a key component of Qatar National Vision 2030”.

For his part, Saleh Al Haroon, Milaha’s Senior Vice President – Support Services said: “The use of Robotic Process Automation is becoming an inevitable requirement for large organizations, and we are already seeing promising results from the new system, particularly with our finance department, which first started implementing it. Using “Tam”, our colleagues are able to perform within hours what would usually takes days to finish, and we are working with the developer to brainstorm new ways and avenues in which we can integrate the solution”.

The “Tam” system is initially capable of performing more than 70 transactions in less than 2 hours, which would have taken more than one day to finish. It also functions 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, while reducing error rate to 0 percent. In addition to integrating “Tam”, Milaha continues to assess and adopt new technologies in the workplace to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and improve synergies among its various business units and corporate functions.

Milaha’s Robotic Process Automation initiative was supported by Roland Berger, a global strategy consulting company, and deployed by FourNxt, an innovative tech company which provides Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things solutions.

أصبحت شركة ملاحة، واحدة من أولى الشركات في الشرق الأوسط التي تستخدم وتدمج نظام لأتمتة العمليات أي استخدام الكمبيوترات والبرمجيات للقيام بمهام معينة بشكل ذاتي ودون أي تدخل بشري أو يدوي، في انشطتها. ويعد النظام الجديد، الذي اطلقت عليه ملاحة اسم “تَمّ” ما يعني “أُنجِز” باللهجة القطرية، أحدث ما توصلت إليه التكنولوجيا حيث يقوم النظام بمحاكاة حركة الإنسان باستخدام برامج الذكاء الاصطناعي لأداء المهام والوظائف المكتبية مثل إدخال البيانات ومعالجتها ونقلها.

وتعليقًا على بدء استخدام النظام الجديد، قال السيد عبد الرحمن عيسى المناعي، الرئيس والمدير التنفيذي لمجموعة ملاحة: “إن بدء استخدام نظام “تَمّ” في عملياتنا هو جزء من مبادرة على مستوى مجموعتنا لأتمتة مكان العمل بهدف تحقيق أعلى درجات الكفاءة والدقة، ونحن فخورون بأن نكون واحدة من أوائل الشركات القطرية التي تتبنى هذه التكنولوجيا المتطورة. وسيتيح نظام “تَمّ” لزملائنا التركيز على المهام المعقدة واتخاذ القرارات والتواصل المباشر مع العملاء. ومن ناحية أخرى، ستساهم حملتنا للأتمتة في خلق اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة، وهو مكون أساسي في رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.”

من جهته، قال السيد صالح الهارون، نائب الرئيس الأول للخدمات المساندة: “أصبح استخدام أنظمة أتمتة العمليات أمرًا لا مفر منه للمؤسسات الكبيرة وقد بدأنا نرى بالفعل نتائج واعدة لنظام “تَمّ” في قسمنا المالي الذي كان أول قسم يستخدمه في المجموعة. و يمكّن النظام زملاءنا من القيام بعدة عمليات في غضون ساعات بعد أن كانت تستغرق عادةً أياماً لإنهائها، كما نعمل حالياً مع الشركة التي طورت النظام لاستكشاف طرق جديدة يمكننا من خلالها الاستفادة منه”.

يستطيع نظام “تَمّ” في المرحلة الأولى إجراء أكثر من 70 عملية في أقل من ساعتين، الأمر الذي كان سيستغرق أكثر من يوم واحد في السابق، كما أنه يعمل 24 ساعة في اليوم و 7 أيام في الأسبوع مع معدل خطأ هو صفر بالمئة. وتواصل مجموعة ملاحة تقييم واعتماد تقنيات حديثة ومبتكرة في عملياتها بهدف تحسين هذه العمليات وزيادة كفاءتها وتقوية التعاون بين الأقسام والقطاعات المختلفة ضمن المجموعة. ولتطبيق النظام الجديد، تعاونت ملاحة مع شركة رولاند برغير للاستشارات العالمية وشركة فورنيكست للتكنولوجيا التي تقدم حلولاً في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي وانترنت الأشياء.
