توعية أسر ذوي الاحتياجات باستخدام مقاعد السيارات للأطفال
DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hamad International Training Center and the Child Development Center at Rumailah Hospital organised the third workshop on child car seat safety last month.
The event, which was attended by families with children who have special needs, provided practical solutions aimed at keeping the children safe while traveling by vehicle. Held on April 3, 10, and 17 and organized as part of the Child Development Center’s Early Intervention Program, around 30 families attended the workshop.
“This workshop is part of our ongoing efforts to meet the needs of families in Qatar who have children with special needs. It is part of our commitment to helping keep children with disabilities and other special needs safe,” said Fatima Mustafa, Assistant Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation.
She said during the workshop staff work with families and help them to choose the right car seat for their child. She added that six members of her team have received training from the Hamad International Training Center on the safe installation of child car seats.
Mustafa cautioned that car accidents are the leading cause of death in children under the age of 13, underscoring the need to select a car seat that meets the child’s weight, height, and age requirements. She added that research shows children are safest when secured in rear-facing seats that support their whole back, neck, and head.
Parents who attended the workshop expressed their appreciation to the organizers and said they felt more confident in their ability to make good choices that would protect their children.
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is an outpatient program that provides early identification and intervention services for infants and toddlers who have or are at risk of, a developmental delay or disability.
نظّم برنامج التدخل المبكر بمركز تطوير وتنمية الطفل بمستشفى الرميلة التابع لمؤسسة حمد الطبية ورشة العمل الثالثة بالتعاون مع مركز حمد الدولي للتدريب حول فحص مقاعد السيارات للأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة وكيفية استخدامها، بحضور ثلاثين أسرة من أُسر الأطفال المراجعين بالمركز، خلال شهر إبريل الماضي، وذلك في مواقف السيارات الخاصة بالمركز.
بدورها أكدت السيدة فاطمة مصطفى- مساعد مدير تأهيل الأطفال بمركز تطوير الطفل في مؤسسة حمد الطبية-: “تأتي ورشة العمل في إطار حرص مؤسسة حمد الطبية على تلبية كافة احتياجات الأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة ومساعدة أسرهم في إيجاد حلول آمنة وعملية من أجل الحفاظ على سلامة أطفالهم بالسيارات، من خلال توعية أولياء الأمور بأهمية مقاعد السيارات للأطفال وتقديم الإرشادات اللازمة التي تساعدهم على اختيار المقاعد المناسبة لأطفالهم، كما تم تدريبهم بشكل عملي على كيفية استخدام هذه المقاعد وكيفية التأمين الصحيح لأطفالهم على أيدي ستة من الفنيين المهرة الذين تم تدريبهم وتأهيلهم بمركز حمد الدولي للتدريب”.
وحذرت فاطمة من عدم استخدام أولياء الأمور لمقاعد الأطفال بالسيارات حيث يؤدي عدم استخدامها لتعرضهم لخطر الإصابة في الحوادث المختلفة، خاصةً أن حوادث السيارات تعد السبب الرئيسي في وفاة الأطفال من عمر عام إلى ثلاثة عشر عاماً، بينما يمكن تقليل هذه الحوادث بنسبة كبيرة في حال استخدام مقاعد السيارات المناسبة للأطفال بمختلف أعمارهم، كما ينبغي اختيار المقعد المناسب لكل طفل، حسب السن والطول ووزن الطفل ومرحلة النمو الخاصة به، مع الحرص على إجلاس الطفل بالمقعد الخلفي بالسيارة، الأمر الذي يوفر أقصى معدلات الحماية، للرأس والعنق والعمود الفقري.
ومن جانبهم، عبر أولياء الأمور الذين حضروا الورشة عن سعادتهم واستفادتهم البالغة من الإرشادات والتعليمات القيمة التي تضمنتها الورشة، والتي تمكنهم من الحفاظ على سلامة أطفالهم داخل السيارات، وعبروا عن شكرهم وامتنانهم لمؤسسة حمد الطبية وما تقدمه من رعاية ودعم لأطفالهم.
