Sheikha Moza visits Qatar Foundation International’s partner elementary school in New York

New York: H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) paid a visit to one of the Qatar Foundation International (QFI) partner Primary Schools, in Brooklyn, New York.

During the visit, Her Highness reviewed the Arabic language and culture classes through art. The program aims at encouraging students to think critically and build bridges of communication with the Arab world.

Her Highness met with teachers and administrators, as well as parents of students participating in this program, which is supported by the Qatar Foundation International , to discuss its development.

Qatar Foundation International (QFI) , a member of the Qatar Foundation based in the United States, is partnering with the World Language Project, a non-profit organization in New York City to enable the school to expand its Arabic education program from extracurricular activities to a course. The “Art in Arabic” class currently serves about 540 students from kindergarten through 5th Grade.

The course focuses on acquiring and mastering the language, learning about the contemporary Arab culture and the events taking place in the Arab world, as well as allocating a full part about the culture of the State of Qatar.

In order to promote cultural exchanges and understanding, the school recently entered into a partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art to organize student visits to the Museum of Islamic Art and to host artists twice in class.

The Qatar Foundation International (QFI) is a global organization committed to enhancing the intellectual, communicative and cultural capacities of school students in Qatar, the United States and the United Kingdom to become effective global citizens.

Through the Arabic Language and Culture Program, the QFI promotes excellence in the classroom and the development of education and the development of Arabic language and culture learning.

قامت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع أمس بزيارة إحدى المدارس الابتدائية الشريكة لمؤسسة قطر الدولية في مدينة (بروكلين) بولاية نيويورك الأميركية.

واطلعت صاحبة السمو -خلال زيارتها- على الصفوف الدراسية التي تدرس اللغة والثقافة العربية من خلال الفن، حيث يهدف هذا البرنامج إلى تشجيع الطلاب على التفكير النقدي، وبناء جسور التواصل مع العالم العربي.

وقد التقت سموها بالمعلمين والإداريين، فضلاً عن أهالي الطلاب المشاركين في هذا البرنامج، الذي تدعمه مؤسسة قطر الدولية، وذلك لمناقشة تطوره.

وتستخدم مؤسسة قطر الدولية -وهي عضو بمؤسسة قطر، يتخذ من الولايات المتحدة مقراً له- شراكتها مع مشروع اللغة العالمي، وهي هيئة غير ربحية بمدينة نيويورك، لتمكين المدرسة من توسيع برنامج تعليم العربية من نشاط خارج ساعات الدوام إلى مقرر دراسي.. ويخدم صف «الفن بالعربية» حالياً نحو 540 طالباً من مرحلة الروضة، وحتى الصف الخامس.

ويركز المنهج على اكتساب اللغة وإجادتها، والاطلاع على الثقافة العربية المعاصرة، والأحداث التي يشهدها العالم العربي، فضلاً عن تخصيصه لحصة كاملة حول ثقافة دولة قطر.

ومن أجل الترويج للتبادل الثقافي وتعزيز التفاهم، فقد دخلت المدرسة مؤخراً في شراكة مع متحف «متروبوليتان» للفن، بهدف تنظيم زيارات للطلاب إلى معرض الفن الإسلامي بالمتحف، واستضافة فنانين -مرتين فصلياً- في الصفوف الدراسية. تجدر الإشارة إلى أن مؤسسة قطر الدولية هي هيئة عالمية، ملتزمة بتعزيز القدرات الفكرية والتواصلية والثقافية لطلاب المدارس في قطر والولايات المتحدة والمملكة المتحدة، حتى يكونوا مواطنين عالميين فاعلين.. ومن خلال برنامج اللغة العربية والثقافة العربية، تعمل المؤسسة على تعزيز التميز في الفصول الدراسية وتطوير تعليم اللغة العربية والثقافة العربية.;
