افتتاح جسر المشاة على الطريق الدائري الخامس
As part of completing the E-Ring Road and Najma Street Development Project, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ opened the pedestrian bridge on the E-Ring Road, located between Al Thumama Intersection and the Intersection of Al Matar Street with E-Ring Road.
Eng. Saoud Al Tamimi, Roads Projects Department in Ashghal, stated that there is a continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communication to construct a number of bridges in all parts of country, in an aim to enhance traffic safety and ensure pedestrians safety.
Eng. Saoud Al Tamimi added that the pedestrian bridge on the E-Ring Road aims to enable the area’s residents and visitors to cross this vital road and reach commercial establishments in the area. This is in addition to facilitating access between the residents of Old Airport (Area 45) and Al Rawda “Thumama” (Area 47).
For his part, Mrs. Sheikha Al Jufairi, Central Municipal Council “CMC” member, said that she would like to thank the Public Works Authority and the Ministry of Transport and Communication for being very cooperative and for honouring her request and efforts in pushing for the construction of this bridge, which is beneficial for her constituents.
It’s worth mentioning that the pedestrian bridge, which is 66 m long and 4 m wide, is equipped with elevators on both sides which can accommodate a large number of users including those with special needs. The bridge is equipped with lighting, closed-circuit television system (CCTV) and a pedestrian counter.
Ashghal completed in July 2017 all of the works of the E-Ring Road and Najma Street Development Project, which included the development of around three kilometres of Najma Street, and the development of around 3.3 km of the E-Ring Road to increase the number of its lanes to four lanes in each direction. Project works also included the construction of three new signal-controlled intersections and a U-turn facility at the E-ring Street junction with Al Matar Street, in addition to providing cyclist lanes, infrastructure utilities, and landscaping.
The opening of the E-Ring Road’s pedestrian bridge is part of the Public Works Authority’s efforts to provide a number of pedestrian bridges in various parts of the country, through expressways, main roads and local roads projects. These efforts aim to enhance the traffic safety and enable pedestrians to safely cross roads that are characterised by heavy traffic movement, in addition to facilitating the access of pedestrians to residential and commercial facilities adjacent to these roads.
One of the most prominent pedestrian bridges implemented by “Ashghal” is the East Industrial Road’s pedestrian bridge, which has been witnessing a remarkable use by pedestrians who have been using it daily and in large numbers since its opening.
The construction of this 80-meter long bridge aimed to enhance road safety and enable pedestrians to cross the Eastern Industrial Road, adjacent to Salwa road, due to the lack of safe crossings on the East Industrial Road known for its heavy traffic, and to facilitate the pedestrians’ access to many existing commercial buildings there.
في إطار اكتمال أعمال مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الخامس وشارع نجمة، افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” جسر المشاة على الطريق الدائري الخامس، والذي يقع بين تقاطع الثمامة وتقاطع شارع المطار مع الطريق الدائري الخامس.
وبهذه المناسبة صرّح المهندس سعود التميمي، مدير إدارة مشاريع الطرق في “أشغال” بأن هناك تنسيق مستمر مع وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات لإنشاء جسور عديدة في مختلف مناطق الدولة، بهدف تعزيز السلامة المرورية والحد من الحوادث التي قد يتعرض لها المشاة.
وأضاف المهندس سعود التميمي بأن جسر المشاة على الطريق الدائري الخامس يهدف إلى تمكين سكّان وروّاد المنطقة من عبور هذا الطريق الحيوي والوصول إلى المنشآت التجارية والحد من الحوادث، بالإضافة إلى تسهيل التواصل بين أهالي منطقتي المطار القديم (منطقة 45) والروضة “الثمامة” (منطقة 47).
من جانبها قالت الأستاذة شيخة الجفيري، عضو المجلس البلدي المركزي ورئيسة اللجنة القانونية بالمجلس، أنها تتقدم بالشكر إلى وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات وهيئة الأشغال العامة لتعاونهم معها، وتقدير طلبها وجهودها في دفع بناء هذا الجسر الذي يعد ذو أهمية كبيرة لأهالي الدائرة.
يذكر أن جسر المشاة، والذي يبلغ طوله 66 متراً وعرضه 4 متر، يتميز بأنه مزود بمصاعد في كلا الجانبين تتسع لعدد كبير من المستخدمين بما فيهم ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، كما أنه مزود بأنظمة الإنارة وكاميرات المراقبة ونظام لإحصاء عدد مستخدمي الجسر.
هذا وكانت “أشغال” قد انتهت من تنفيذ جميع أعمال مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الخامس وشارع نجمة في يوليو 2017، وشملت الأعمال تطوير ثلاثة كيلومترات من شارع نجمة و تطوير حوالي 3.3 كيلومتر من الطريق الدائري الخامس لتوسعته إلى أربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه. كما شملت أعمال المشروع إنشاء ثلاثة تقاطعات جديدة بإشارات ضوئية ومكان للدوران للخلف عند تقاطع طريق الدائري الخامس مع شارع المطار، بالإضافة إلى توفير ممرات للدراجات الهوائية، ومرافق البنية التحتية، وتنفيذ أعمال التجميل والتشجير في المنطقة.
يأتي افتتاح جسر المشاة على الطريق الدائري الخامس كجزء من جهود هيئة الأشغال العامة لتوفير عدد من جسور المشاة في مناطق متفرقة من البلاد من خلال مشاريع تطوير الطرق الرئيسية والسريعة ومشاريع الطرق المحلية، وذلك بهدف تعزيز السلامة المرورية وتمكين المشاة من عبور الطرق التي تمتاز بكثافة الحركة المرورية عليها بآمان، وكذلك تسهيل وصول المشاة إلى المنشآت السكنية والتجارية المجاورة لهذه الطرق.
ويعد جسر المشاة على طريق الصناعية الشرقي أحد أبرز جسور المشاة التي نفذتها “أشغال” في هذا الإطار، والذي يشهد إقبالاً ملفتاً من قبل المشاة الذين باتوا يستخدمونه بشكل يومي وبأعداد كبيرة منذ افتتاحه. وقد هدف إنشاء هذا الجسر الذي يبلغ طوله 80 متراً إلى تعزيز السلامة المرورية وتمكين المشاة من عبور طريق الصناعية الشرقي المجاور لطريق سلوى، نظراً لعدم وجود تقاطعات آمنة لعبور هذا الطريق المعروف بكثافة الحركة المرورية عليه، وبهدف تسهيل وصول المشاة إلى المنشآت التجارية القائمة هناك.
