آل محمود يلتقي وفد جمعية الصداقة بالبرلمان الأوروبي
DOHA: Speaker of the Advisory Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, met yesterday with the delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group in the European parliament led by the Head of the Group, Ramona Manescu.
During the meeting, they discussed the development of parliamentary relations between the Advisory Council and the European Parliament, and they reviewed a number of issues of common interest.
The Speaker briefed the delegation on what the State of Qatar is witnessing in terms of economic growth and the development in various fields, as well as the developments in the legislative and legal fields. He also briefed them on the role and functions of the Advisory Council, as well as the efforts of the State of Qatar to combat extremism and terrorism.
He spoke to the delegation about the unjust blockade imposed on the State of Qatar, and its violation of international law and disregard for the principles of good neighbourliness and the basis on which relations between States should be based.
The delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group praised Qatar’s growth and development in various fields, expressing their hope that the relations between the Advisory Council and the European Parliament , as well as the relations of the State of Qatar with the European Union countries will witness further strength in cooperation and coordination in various fields during the coming period.
The delegation also expressed their hope of a solution in the near term for the GCC crisis through dialogue, stressing its support for all efforts exerted to achieve this goal.
The meeting was attended by Nasser Khalil Al Jaidah, Mohammed Abdullah Abdulghani, Dahlan Jamaan Al Hamad, Dr Hessa Al Jaber, Reem Mohammed Al Mansouri, members of the Advisory Council.
Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr Ali bin Sumaikh Al Marri, also met yesterday with the delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group in the European parliament led by Head of the Group, Ramona Manescu.
During the meeting, Al Marri gave the delegation a comprehensive definition of the National Human Rights Commission in terms of its origins, terms of reference and working methods.
He also reviewed legislative developments in the State of Qatar, particularly with regards to enhancing the protection of workers’ rights, as well as the role of the National Commission in monitoring and documenting violations resulting from the embargo imposed on the State of Qatar.
In this context, Dr Al Marri provided the delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group with the latest reports and statistics regarding the violations of blockade of Qatar since it was first enforced.
اجتمع سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله بن زيد آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى، أمس، مع وفد جمعية الصداقة القطرية الأوروبية في البرلمان الأوروبي، برئاسة سعادة السيدة رامونا مانسكو رئيسة الجمعية.
جرى خلال الاجتماع بحث تطوير العلاقات البرلمانية بين مجلس الشورى والبرلمان الأوروبي، واستعراض عدد من القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
وأطلع سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى الوفد على ما تشهده دولة قطر من نهضة اقتصادية وحركة تنموية في مختلف المجالات، والتطورات في المجال التشريعي والقانوني. كما أطلعه على دور ومهام مجلس الشورى، وكذلك على جهود دولة قطر في محاربة التطرف والإرهاب.
وتحدث سعادته للوفد حول الحصار الجائر الذي تتعرض له دولة قطر، وما يمثله من انتهاك للقانون الدولي، وعدم مراعاته لمبادئ حسن الجوار والأسس التي ينبغي أن تقوم عليها العلاقات بين الدول.
وأشاد وفد جمعية الصداقة القطرية الأوروبية بما تشهده دولة قطر من تنمية وتطور في مختلف المجالات، مبدياً تطلعه إلى أن تشهد العلاقات بين مجلس الشورى والبرلمان الأوروبي وكذلك علاقات دولة قطر مع دول الاتحاد الأوروبي المزيد من التعاون والتنسيق في مختلف المجالات خلال المرحلة المقبلة.
كما أبدى الوفد تطلعه إلى حل قريب للأزمة الخليجية عن طريق الحوار، مؤكداً دعمه لجميع الجهود المبذولة لتحقيق هذا الهدف.
