MoPH reports 918 new confirmed cases of coronavirus

The Ministry of Public Health today announced the registration of 918 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, as well as 216 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the State of Qatar to 2,286.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now stands at 18890 and there are 16592 active cases under treatment. So far, 12 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 3532 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 116495 tests.

The Ministry explained that most of the new cases are due to expatriate workers who have been infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who have been previously infected, in addition to recording new cases from within groups of workers from various regions. These cases have been identified as a result of investigations carried out by the Ministry.

The remainder of new cases infected with the virus have come from citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted the virus through their workplaces or other places where they had been to exposed to infected people.

All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care.

The Ministry of Public Health notes that the current period will see a fluctuation in the number of cases of infection due to several reasons, including that the outbreak of the virus is in the peak stage, before the number of infections begin to descend gradually.

The Ministry has also recently stepped up efforts to track the transitional chains of the virus and expand the search for people infected by conducting extensive and proactive investigations of large numbers of contacts with people who have recently been confirmed with the disease.

The Ministry of Public Health calls on all members of society to stay at home and not go out except in cases of necessity and to implement preventive measures and maintain physical distancing, including in the workplace and public places. The Ministry reminds people to use a face mask as recommended and avoid social visits to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.​

أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة اليوم، عن تسجيل 918 حالة إصابة جديدة مؤكدة بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19)، وتعافي 216 حالة من المرض في الأربع والعشرين ساعة الأخيرة، ليصل إجمالي عدد حالات الشفاء في دولة قطر إلى 2286.

وأوضحت الوزارة في بيان لها، أن أغلب الحالات الجديدة تعود لأشخاص من العمالة الوافدة كانوا قد أصيبوا بالفيروس نتيجة مخالطتهم لأفراد تم اكتشاف إصابتهم سابقا، بالإضافة لتسجيل حالات إصابة جديدة بالفيروس بين مجموعات من العمالة من مناطق مختلفة وذلك خلال إجراء فحوصات استقصائية من قبل فرق البحث والتقصي التابعة لوزارة الصحة الأمر الذي أسهم في الكشف المبكر عن الحالات.

وتعود باقي حالات الإصابة الأخرى لمواطنين ومقيمين ممن خالطوا مصابين بالفيروس من أفراد أسرهم الذين أصيبوا بدورهم في مكان العمل أو في أماكن أخرى.

وتم إدخال الحالات المؤكد إصابتها بالفيروس للعزل الصحي التام في مختلف المرافق الطبية بالدولة، حيث يتلقون العناية الصحية اللازمة حسب الوضع الصحي لكل حالة.

وذكرت وزارة الصحة العامة أن الفترة الحالية ستشهد تذبذبا في أعداد حالات الإصابة بالفيروس بين ارتفاع وانخفاض وذلك يرجع لعدة أسباب من بينها أن تفشي الفيروس يعتبر في مرحلة الذروة قبل أن تبدأ أعداد الإصابات بالنزول تدريجيا.

كما ضاعفت الوزارة في الآونة الأخيرة جهود تتبع السلاسل الانتقالية للفيروس وتوسيع دائرة البحث عن المصابين عبر إجراء فحوصات مكثفة واستباقية لأعداد كبيرة من المخالطين للأشخاص الذين تم التأكد من إصابتهم بالفيروس مؤخرا.

وشددت وزارة الصحة العامة على أهمية التزام أفراد المجتمع بالإجراءات والتدابير الوقائية لحماية أنفسهم من عدوى الفيروس وضرورة البقاء في المنزل وعدم الخروج إلا في حالات الضرورة والمحافظة على البعد الاجتماعي والمسافة الآمنة من الآخرين بما في ذلك في مكان العمل والأماكن العامة واستخدام الكمام الطبي وتجنب الزيارات الاجتماعية للتقليل من احتمال الإصابة بالفيروس .
