“Free Guy” Tops North American Box Office For 2nd Weekend in Row

Washington: Disney and 20th Century Studios’ sci-fi action comedy film “Free Guy” took the top spot in the North American box office for a second-straight weekend with a three-day estimate of 18.79 million US dollars, according to studio figures collected by measurement firm Comscore.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the film stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi.
“Free Guy” follows a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, and decides to become the hero of his own story. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way before it is too late.
A newcomer, “PAW Patrol: The Movie,” released by Paramount Pictures, opened in second place this weekend with an estimated 13 million dollars.
The film is directed by Canadian filmmaker Cal Brunker and the star-studded voice cast includes Iain Armitage, Marsai Martin, Ron Pardo, Yara Shahidi, Kim Kardashian, Randall Park, Dax Shepard, Tyler Perry, Jimmy Kimmel and Will Brisbin.
In third place, Disney’s fantasy adventure film “Jungle Cruise” brought in 6.23 million dollars in its fourth weekend, pushing its North American cume to 92.54 million dollars for a worldwide total of 173.7 million dollars.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and inspired by Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, the 200-million-dollar film, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, follows a wisecracking skipper and an intrepid researcher on a quest to discover an ancient healing tree deep in the heart of the Amazon jungle.
Sony’s horror thriller sequel “Don’t Breathe 2” landed in fourth with 5.05 million dollars in its second weekend for a North American cume of 19.67 million dollars.
United Artists Releasing’s biographical musical drama film “Respect” finished fifth with 3.81 million dollars in its second weekend for a North American total of 15.77 million dollars.

واحتفظ فيلم المغامرات /جانجل كروز/ هذا الأسبوع بالمركز الثالث الذي احتله الأسبوع الماضي، مسجلا إيرادات بلغت 6.1 مليون دولار، والفيلم من إخراج جومي كوليت سيرا، وبطولة دوين جونسون وإدجار راميرز وجيسي بليمنز وجاك وايتهول.
وتراجع فيلم التشويق /دونت بريث 2/ من المركز الثاني الذي احتله الأسبوع الماضي إلى المركز الرابع هذا الأسبوع، بإيرادات بلغت 5.1 مليون دولار، والفيلم من بطولة ستيفن لانج ومادلين جرايس ودم يونج، ومن إخراج رودو ساياجيس.
كما تراجع الفيلم الموسيقي /ريسبكت/ من المركز الرابع الذي احتله الأسبوع الماضي إلى المركز الخامس هذا الأسبوع، محققا إيرادات بلغت 3.8 مليون دولار، والفيلم للمخرج ليزل تومي، وبطولة جينيفر هدسون وتاتي دونفان وأودرا ماكدونالد.
