Amir reaffirms solid relations with Argentina

DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of Argentina Mauricio Macri held a bilateral meeting at the Presidential palace in Buenos Aires yesterday afternoon.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the prospects for consolidating joint cooperation in various fields, especially in the fields of economy, investment, trade, education and sports.
They also exchanged views on the latest developments on the regional and international arenas. Upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace, H H the Amir was accorded an official reception.
H H the Amir and the President also held a session of official talks at the presidential palace. At the beginning of the session, the President welcomed H H the Amir on his second visit to Argentina, praising the friendly and growing relations between the two countries, hoping that His Highness visit will contribute to further cooperation.
On his part, H H the Amir reaffirmed what was stated by the President of Argentina in relation to the strong and solid relations between the two countries, adding that the two countries will continue to work for further cooperation in other fields, expressing his confidence that the visit will further enhance that.
The session of official talks discussed means of developing bilateral relations and areas of cooperation in economy, investment and sports, as well as exchanging experiences in education, research, sports, agriculture and environment.
Issues of common concern were also discussed. The session of talks was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir. From the Argentine side, it was attended by a number of Their Excellencies ministers.
H H the Amir and President of Argentina also witnessed the signing of an agreement and memorandums of understanding between the governments of the two countries at the Presidential Palace.
They witnessed the signing of an agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, private and official passports between the two countries; a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in education, higher education and scientific research aimed at consolidating and encouraging cooperation in the fields of education and science; and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the sport field between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the State of Qatar and the General Secretariat of Sport of the Republic of Argentina to enhance possibilities and opportunities for sports cooperation between the two countries, using the Argentine expertise in this field.
They also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the exemption of Qatari nationals from visa; and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Production and Labour of the Argentine Republic aimed at establishing consultations and cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and agricultural sectors in the mutual interest of the two countries.
H H the Amir attended a luncheon banquet hosted by the Argentine President in honour of H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation at the Presidential Palace museum in Buenos Aires yesterday.
During the luncheon the wife of the President, Juliana Awada, Vice-President Gabriela Michetti, and a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials were present.
At the beginning of the banquet, the President welcomed H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation on his second visit to Argentina, which provides a new opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries.
The President also praised the level of cooperation at various levels, where Argentina’s experience in the field of food security can help Qatar to the same extent that Argentina can benefit from Qatar’s experience in the field of energy, pointing out that his country is experiencing difficult economic conditions.
He added that yesterday’s talks dealt with other areas such as education and sports, looking forward to further cooperation. He also pointed to Qatar’s ability to organise successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, wishing his team success in qualifying for the championship.
On his part, H H the Amir thanked the President and the Argentine people for their warm welcome and hospitality, adding that the Qatar-Argentina relations have been spanning for more than 40 years and have been remarkably growing over the past two years, especially after the mutual visits, pointing out that this visit aimed at advancing bilateral relations.
Commenting on what the president said about his country’s difficult conditions, H H the Amir said that all nations are going through difficult stages, including the State of Qatar, which is undergoing regional challenges, but thanks to Allah and the steadfastness and strength of society in Qatar and friends, Qatar has become stronger and has also become more self-reliant than ever, pointing out that Argentina will overcome this difficult economic conditions under the leadership of the President.
H H the Amir was presented with honorary guest certificate of Argentina by the President of the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires, Francisco Javier Quintana, on the occasion of a state visit paid by His Highness to Argentina.
This came when HH the Amir met with Francisco Quintana at His Highness residence in Buenos Aires, yesterday evening. The meeting was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
H H the Amir also met with President of the Supreme Court of the Argentina, Carlos Rosenkrantz, at the Justice Palace in Buenos Aires.
At the beginning of the meeting, H H the Amir congratulated Carlos Rosenkrantz on assuming the presidency of the Supreme Court, wishing him success in performing his duties.
For his part, the President of the Supreme Court thanked H H the Amir for accepting the invitation and visiting the Palace of Justice, expressing his aspiration to develop cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of cooperation between the State of Qatar and Argentina, especially regarding the opportunities for cooperation between the two judicial authorities and ways to boost and develop them.

وفي بداية الجلسة، رحّب فخامة الرئيس الأرجنتيني بسمو أمير البلاد المفدى في زيارته الثانية لجمهورية الأرجنتين، مشيداً بعلاقات الصداقة التي تربط البلدين وتطورها، متطلعا بأن تساهم زيارة سموه في مزيد من التعاون.
ومن جهته، أكد سمو الأمير على ما قاله فخامة الرئيس الأرجنتيني من أن علاقة البلدين ذات أسس متينة وصلبة، مشيراً إلى مواصلة العمل بين البلدين من أجل مزيد من التعاون المشترك في مجالات أخرى، وإلى ثقته بأن الزيارة ستساهم في تعزيز ذلك.
وبحثت الجلسة سبل تطوير العلاقات الثنائية ومجالات التعاون في الاقتصاد، والاستثمار والرياضة، فضلاً عن تبادل الخبرات في التعليم والبحوث، والرياضة، بالإضافة إلى الزراعة والبيئة، كما تم بحث القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك. حضر المباحثات أعضاء الوفد الرسمي المرافق لسمو الأمير، ومن الجانب الأرجنتيني حضرها عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء.
