Spanish football federation announces extension of suspension of matches until further notice

Spanish football chiefs have announced an indefinite suspension of the game as the nation continues its battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

LaLiga and the Spanish football federation (RFEF) issued a joint statement on Monday confirming the league programme would only resume once the government and health bodies were satisfied there was no longer a risk to public health.

The statement said: “The Monitoring Commission established by the current RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement agrees the suspension of professional football competitions until the authorities of the Government of Spain and the General Administration of the State consider that they can be resumed without creating any health risk.

“Both the RFEF and LaLiga wish to express our greatest public gratitude to all those who are dedicating their best efforts to provide essential services to the Spanish people and also share our condolences for all the deceased and a warm embrace from the world of soccer to the many families that are losing loved ones.”

All matches in the Spanish top flight were postponed for at least two weeks on March 12 after Real Madrid put its entire squad into quarantine following a positive diagnosis for one of the club’s basketball players.

The initial plan was to review the decision after the two rounds of postponed fixtures had passed, and there were suggestions last week that May 3 had been pencilled in as a possible return date.

By lunchtime on Monday, Spain had 33,089 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and had suffered 2,182 deaths.

أعلنت رابطة الدوري الإسباني والاتحاد المحلي لكرة القدم، اليوم ، تمديد تعليق مباريات دوريي الدرجتين الأولى والثانية للموسم الرياضي حتى إشعار آخر بسبب تفشي فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19).

وجاء في بيان مشترك للرابطة والاتحاد “قررت لجنة المتابعة تعليق المنافسات الاحترافية في كرة القدم حتى تقرر السلطات الحكومية في إسبانيا انه من الممكن استئنافها من دون أي خطر على الصحة”.

وأضاف البيان “يتوجه الاتحاد الاسباني ورابطة الدوري بالشكر الكبير للأشخاص الذين يركزون جهودهم على تأمين الخدمات الأساسية للشعب الاسباني، ونريد ان نتذكر بأصدق المشاعر الأشخاص الذين توفوا ونوجه تحية حارة الى عالم كرة القدم والعائلات التي فقدت أرواحا عزيزة” .

وأعلنت السلطات الكروية الإسبانية في 12 مارس الحالي تعليق النشاط في الدرجتين الأولى والثانية لمدة مرحلتين على الأقل، في خطوة أتت في أعقاب إعلان نادي ريال مدريد فرض حجر صحي على كل أفراده بسبب ثبوت إصابة أحد لاعبي فريق كرة السلة بفيروس /كوفيد-19/.

وكانت الرابطة قد أعلنت قبل ذلك إقامة “مباريات لا ليغا من دون جمهور على أسبوعين” تماشيا مع تعليمات المجلس الأعلى للرياضة، وكان الاتحاد الإسباني لكرة القدم قد أعلن في وقت سابق من الشهر الحالي، تعليق منافسات أندية الدرجة الثالثة /أعلى مستوى غير احترافي في البلاد/ حتى إشعار آخر، بسبب فيروس كورونا المستجد.

وتعد إسبانيا ثاني أكثر بلدان أوروبا تضررا بوباء /كوفيد-19/، حيث أعلنت اليوم ارتفاع الحصيلة الاجمالية للوفيات بسببه الى 2182، بينما تجاوز عدد الإصابات المؤكدة حاجز 33 ألف شخص.

وفرضت السلطات في إسبانيا، مثل العديد من دول العالم، إجراءات عزل صحي شبه تام يمكن ان يمدد حتى 11 إبريل المقبل.
