London: The showdown between Norwegian coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Portuguese predecessor Jose Mourinho moves to the pitch after making headlines in the last few days, when Manchester United and Tottenham meet today in the fourth stage of the English Football League.
Solskjaer ignited a war of words with Mourinho after the thrilling 3-2 win over Brighton in a match in which the latter hit the crossbar and goalposts five times, saying “we must be happy because Jose is not here to measure the goal”.
The Norwegian, who succeeded Mourinho at United’s training in late 2018 after the Portuguese-led club had won only seven of his first 17 league games since the start of the season, was referring to what his predecessor had done during Tottenham’s midweek match against the North Macedonian club Shkendija (3-1) in the third leg of the Europa League.
Before the match, Mourinho measured the height of the goal, to show that it is five centimetres shorter than the legal measure, which changed it according to the Portuguese after the meeting.
After a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Leeds United, Liverpool showed their readiness to defend their first title in 30 years, beating Chelsea 2-0 and Arsenal 3-1, as well as a 7-2 victory over Second Division Lincoln City in the third round of the League Cup, and today Liverpool meets Aston Villa.
In other matches, Leicester City meets West Ham, Southampton meets West Bromwich Albion, Arsenal meets Sheffield Wednesday and Wolverhampton meets Fulham.

لندن: تنتقل المواجهة بين المُدرب النرويجي أولي جونار سولشاير وسلفه البرتغالي جوزيه مورينيو إلى أرض الملعب بعد أن تصدرت العناوين في الأيام القليلة الماضية، وذلك حين يلتقي مانشستر يونايتد وتوتنهام اليوم في المرحلة الرابعة من الدوري الإنجليزي لكرة القدم.
وأشعل سولشاير الحرب الكلامية مع مورينيو بعد الفوز المُثير على برايتون 3-2 في مباراة أصاب خلالها الأخير الخشبات الثلاث للمرمى خمس مرات، بقوله «يجب أن نكون سعداء لأن جوزيه ليس هنا لقياس المرمى».
وكان النرويجي الذي خلف مورينيو في تدريب يونايتد أواخر 2018 بعد أن حقق الأخير بقيادة البرتغالي سبعة انتصارات فقط من أصل المباريات ال17 الأولى في الدوري منذ مستهل ذلك الموسم، يشير في حديثه إلى ما قام به سلفه خلال مباراة منتصف الأسبوع لتوتنهام ضد شكنديا المقدوني الشمالي (3-1) في الدور التمهيدي الثالث لمسابقة «يوروبا ليج».
وقام مورينيو قبل اللقاء بقياس ارتفاع المرمى، ليتبين أنه أقصر من القياس القانوني بخمسة سنتيمترات، ما أدّى إلى تغييره بحسب ما أفاد البرتغالي بعد اللقاء.
وبعد فوزه الشاق في المرحلة الافتتاحية أمام العائد ليدز يونايتد 4-3، أظهر ليفربول جاهزيته للدفاع عن اللقب الذي أحرزه للمرة الأولى منذ 30 عامًا، بفوزه على تشيلسي خارج ملعبه 2-صفر ثم أرسنال 3-1، إضافة إلى انتصاره الكاسح على لينكولن سيتي من الدرجة الثانية 7-2 في الدور الثالث لكأس الرابطة، ويلتقي اليوم ليفربول مع أستون فيلا.
وفي مباريات أخرى، ليستر سيتي مع وست هام، وساوثهامبتون مع وست بروميتش ألبيون، وآرسنال مع شيفيلد، ولفرهامبتون مع فولهام.
