QU Wins National 3MT Competition’s 1st Place

Doha: Qatar University (QU) won 1st place in the National 3MT Competition, with the participation of 17 exceptional students representing 9 universities in the State of Qatar, through various scientific research projects.
The 1st place was secured by PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at QU Fatima Mohammed Qafoud. The 2nd place was claimed by Master’s student in Media and Cultural Studies from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Soukayna Ait Hammou, while the 3rd place was awarded to PhD student in Genomics and Precision Medicine at the College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Asma Anwar Elashi.
HE President of QU Dr. Omar Al Ansari emphasized the importance of organizing such a prestigious graduate student competition. Dr. Al Ansari stated, “We are pleased to host students from all over Qatar on our university campus with a spirit of friendly competition and a shared commitment to building the community,” Dr. Al Ansari added, “The National 3MT Competition is a celebration of the diversity of research projects in our country, spanning various disciplines from medicine to engineering, politics to economics, and everything in between,” HE the President of QU expressed his deep gratitude to the dedicated sponsors of this competition, ConocoPhillips Qatar, for their continuous support of higher education in Qatar, as well as the esteemed judging panel, which has the important task of evaluating the student presentations.
For her part, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at QU Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed said, “The National 3MT Competition reminds us of the deep impact of research and its vital role in meeting national needs,” She also expressed her admiration for the final contestants and their remarkable presentations, commending their dedication to research and innovation and their ability to convey ideas effectively.
On this occasion, Technical Manager of ConocoPhillips Qatar Brandon S. Viator said, “We at ConocoPhillips Qatar are committed to supporting young academic researchers in the country and empowering them to contribute to a better future for all of us.”

الدوحة: حصلت جامعة قطر على المركز الأول في مسابقة 3MT الوطنية، وذلك بمشاركة 17 طالبا مثلوا 9 جامعات في دولة قطر، من خلال مشاريع بحثية علمية متنوعة.
وفازت بالمركز الأول الباحثة فاطمة محمد كافود طالبة دكتوراه في العلوم الحيوية الطبية بكلية العلوم الصحية بجامعة قطر، لتحصل على المركز الثاني الطالبة سكينة آيت حمو ماجستير إعلام من معهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا.
كما فازت بالمركز الثالث، الباحثة أسماء أنور العشي دكتوراه في علم الجينوم والطب الدقيق بكلية العلوم الصحية والحيوية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة.
وثمن سعادة الدكتور عمر الأنصاري رئيس جامعة قطر، أهمية تنظيم هذه المسابقة البحثية التي تستضيفها الجامعة من جميع أنحاء دولة قطر، ضمن منافسة ودية مع الالتزام المشترك ببناء المجتمع، مشيرا إلى أن “مسابقة 3MT الوطنية تعد احتفالا بتنوع المشاريع البحثية الموجودة في بلدنا، والتي تمتد عبر مختلف التخصصات من الطب إلى الهندسة، والسياسة إلى الاقتصاد، وكل شيء بينهما”.
وأعرب الدكتور الأنصاري عن شكره لرعاة هذه المسابقة، شركة /كونوكو فيليبس قطر/، وذلك لدعمهم المستمر للتعليم العالي في دولة قطر، إضافة إلى لجنة التحكيم التي تضطلع بمهمة كبيرة، تتمثل في تقييم العروض التقديمية للطلاب.
بدورها، قالت الأستاذة الدكتورة مريم المعاضيد نائب الرئيس للبحث والدراسات العليا في جامعة قطر، إن “مسابقة 3MT الوطنية تذكرنا بالتأثير العميق للبحث ودوره الحيوي في تلبية الاحتياجات الوطنية”، مشيدة بجهود المتسابقين النهائيين وبعروضهم التقديمية المميزة وتفانيهم في البحث والابتكار وقدرتهم على نقل الأفكار بوضوح.
من جانبه، شدد السيد براندون فايتور المدير الفني لـ/كونوكو فيليبس قطر/، على الالتزام بدعم الباحثين الأكاديميين الشباب في البلاد وتمكينهم من أجل دفع عجلة الابتكار وتقديم مساهمات بناءة من أجل مستقبل أفضل للجميع.
