CCQ holds orientation for new academic year

The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has kicked off the new academic year with the fall semester’s orientation session to introduce incoming students to the college community, guide them through their educational journey and prepare them for academic success.

The multipart session included introductory presentations on the College’s academic advising services, registration procedures and safety policies, in addition to a number of interactive discussions that paved the way for a productive and fruitful year.

CCQ held its 2018-2019 Fall Convocation Week at the College’s C-Ring Campus under the theme, “Embracing Team-building through Quality & Achievement”, which featured a host of workshops, sessions and group activities on a diverse range of relevant skills and topics, centred on working together towards achieving institution-wide excellence.

During the four-day event, new and returning faculty and staff reviewed the College’s past-year achievements, learned more about its various departments, and received important information to help steer their experience at CCQ throughout the new academic year.

On the main Convocation Day, CCQ president Dr Mohamed al-Naemi welcomed new and returning faculty and staff and shared his vision for the coming period with attendees.

“If you look at how the concepts of quality and excellence evolved over the last 100 years, the focus has shifted from the inputs, to the processing, and more recently to the outcomes. At CCQ, we will continue to focus on the outcomes of our education process and translate the College’s overarching vision, mission, and values into our daily functions and activities, so that quality and excellence become a tangible every-day experience for our entire college community,” he noted.

CCQ dean Dr Abdallah Hazaimeh said, “In 2017, many of our faculty members got involved in a number of distinguished professional development activities. While some completed their PhD programme, others became published authors or presented at international conferences. This year, we will build on our successes as we take our advising and counselling services to the next level, as well as continue enhancing the use of innovative technologies and maximising our community-outreach efforts, in addition to launching our Al Khor campus, among many other strategic goals we have set for the year.”

As the nation’s most fast-paced educational establishment, CCQ’s earned title was reflected through key performance figures in 2017-2018. The academic year witnessed the college’s largest class to date, graduating around 900 students, among them the first batch of Associate of Applied Arts in Theatre Arts graduates.

In addition, student enrolment grew to around 5,000 students, compared to 300 students in 2010, and the number of classes jumped to 568. The number of academic programmes witnessed another important leap with more than 15 programmes currently on offer, including diversified associate and bachelor’s degrees.

استهلت كلية المجتمع في قطر، المؤسسة التعليمية الأسرع نموًا في الدولة، العام الأكاديمي الجديد بعقد لقاء تعريفي للترحيب بالطلاب الجدد وتعريفهم بالكلية وإرشادهم عبر رحلتهم الدراسية.

وقد تضمن اللقاء جلسات وعروض تعريفية وتوعوية حول خدمات الإرشاد الأكاديمي والسياسات الخاصة بالتسجيل والطلاب، وسياسات الأمن والسلامة، وأنشطة تفاعلية بمشاركة الطلاب.

كذلك حضر الطلاب جلسة عملية عن كيفية التسجيل في الفصول الدراسية المختلفة بمساعدة مسؤولي التسجيل والإرشاد الأكاديمي بالكلية.

وفي سياق متصل، عقدت الكلية لقاء الخريف للعام الأكاديمي 2018-2019 لأعضاء الهيئتين التدريسية والإدارية، الذي استمر على مدار أربعة أيام بمبنى الكلية بالدائري الثالث تحت شعار “تعزيز فريق العمل من خلال الجودة والإنجاز”.

وقد تميز اللقاء بمجموعة من ورش العمل والجلسات والأنشطة الجماعية التي ركزت على العديد من المهارات والموضوعات التي من شأنها تعزيز روح الفريق وتضافر الجهود نحو تحقيق التميز. وخلال أيام اللقاء، استعرض أعضاء الهيئتين التدريسية والإدارية إنجازات الكلية خلال العام الأكاديمي المنصرم، وتعرفوا على الأقسام المختلفة بالكلية وغيرها من المعلومات الهامة التي من شأنها مساعدتهم في تأدية عملهم على الوجه الأكمل خلال العام الأكاديمي الجديد.

وفي كلمته الافتتاحية، رحب رئيس الكلية الدكتور محمد إبراهيم النعيمي بأعضاء الهيئتين التدريسية والإدارية الجدد والحاليين، وألقى الضوء على رؤية الكلية خلال الفترة القادمة، قائلًا:

“لقد تغير مفهوما الجودة والتميز خلال الأعوام المائة الماضية من التركيز على المدخلات إلى عملية التجهيز والإعداد ثم مؤخرًا إلى التركيز على المخرجات.

لذا، سنواصل في كلية المجتمع تركيز جهودنا على مخرجات العملية التعليمية، وترجمة رؤية الكلية ورسالتها وقيمها لتنعكس في مهامنا وأنشطتنا اليومية، بحيث تصبح مبادئ الجودة والتميز تجربة يومية ملموسة لجميع منتسبي الكلية.”
