Berlin: Union Berlin fans watched their team from the stands yesterday, a Saturday, in their match against Freiburg in the German league, amid the high number of people infected with Coronavirus in the German capital – but the crowd was prevented from singing as an additional hygiene measure. The 4,500 fans watched the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
They were creative in supporting their team during the match that took place at the Ander Altan Forestry Stadium. Some of the crowd brought drums or trumpets, and everyone clapped in harmony. The stadium’s indoor announcer appealed to the fans who filled 20 percent of the stadium’s capacity, saying: Always wear your masks, keep your distance,
and Clap your hands. the team needs your support. Even during the celebration of Robert Andrich’s equalizer, fans just applauded and did not cheer.
