Nothing has changed, WhatsApp responds to the uproar of recent updates

Doha: Amid the widespread controversy caused by WhatsApp over the new updates, the company has issued a statement on some of the issues related to the “new update” of the instant messaging app.
Following news that users are looking for other alternatives, the spokesman for WhatsApp said that the company announced last October that the application is working to help users make purchases in addition to obtaining business services directly through the application.
He added that while most people use WhatsApp to have a conversation with friends and family, more and more users are trying to get business services as well.
“For greater transparency, we have updated our privacy policy so that companies wishing to provide their services through WhatsApp in the future can choose to receive secure hosting services through our parent company (Facebook) in order to facilitate the management of communication with their customers through WhatsApp.”
The company spokesman confirmed that the WhatsApp user is free to choose whether or not to communicate with a company through the app.
The spokesman added: “This update does not cause any change in relation to WhatsApp data sharing practices with Facebook, nor does it affect the privacy of users communicating with their friends or family around the world.”
The statement ultimately stressed the company’s full commitment to protecting the privacy of users of the app, while communicating directly with users regarding these changes so that they have sufficient time to review the new policy over the next month.
WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular instant messaging apps, for its ease of use and the most important privacy it gives to its users, but WhatsApp’s move to force all users to agree to the controversial new privacy policy by February 8th has made many users uncomfortable and this step led them to look for better alternatives when it comes to privacy and data protection.
الدوحة: في خضم الجدل واللغط الواسع الذي أحدثته شركة واتساب بسبب التحديثات الجديدة ، قامت الشركة بإصدار بيان توضيحي حول بعض الأمور المتعلقة بـ«التحديث الجديد» لتطبيق التراسل الفوري.
وإثر تداول أخبار عن بحث المستخدمين بدائل أخرى ، ذكر المتحدث الرسمي لـ«واتساب» أن الشركة سبق وأعلنت في أكتوبر الماضي أن التطبيق يعمل على مساعدة المستخدمين في إجراء عمليات الشراء بالإضافة إلى الحصول على خدمات الأعمال مباشرة عبر التطبيق.
وأضاف أنه بينما يستخدم معظم الأشخاص تطبيق واتساب لإجراء محادثة مع الأصدقاء والعائلة، يتزايد عدد المستخدمين الذي يحاولون الحصول على خدمات الأعمال أيضًا.
وتابع: «من أجل المزيد من الشفافية، قمنا بتحديث سياسة الخصوصية بحيث يمكن للشركات التي ترغب في تقديم خدماتها عبر تطبيق واتساب مستقبلًا اختيار تلقي خدمات استضافة آمنة من خلال شركتنا الأم (فيسبوك) بهدف تيسير إدارة تواصل تلك الشركات مع عملائها عبر تطبيق واتساب».
وأكد المتحدث باسم الشركة أن مستخدم واتساب لديه حرية الاختيار ما إذا كان يرغب في التواصل مع إحدى الشركات عبر التطبيق أو لا يرغب في ذلك.
وأضاف المتحدث: «لا يتسبب هذا التحديث في أي تغيير فيما يتعلق بممارسات مشاركة البيانات عبر واتساب مع فيسبوك، كما لا يؤثر إطلاقًا في خصوصية تواصل المستخدمين مع أصدقائهم أو عائلاتهم في جميع أنحاء العالم».
وأكد البيان في النهاية على التزام الشركة التام بحماية خصوصية مستخدمي التطبيق، فيما تتواصل بصفة مباشرة مع المستخدمين فيما يتعلق بتلك التغييرات حتى يتوفر لهم الوقت الكافي لمراجعة السياسة الجديدة على مدار الشهر المقبل.
ويعد واتساب WhatsApp أحد تطبيقات التراسل الفوري الأشهر في العالم، وذلك لسهولة استخدامه والأهم الخصوصية التي يمنحها لمستخدميه، لكن خطوة “واتس أب” بإجبار جميع المستخدمين على الموافقة على سياسة الخصوصية الجديدة المثيرة للجدل بحلول 8 فبراير، جعلت الكثير من المستخدين يشعرون بالانزعاج وقادتهم هذه الخطوة إلى البحث عن بدائل أفضل عندما يتعلق الأمر بالخصوصية وحماية البيانات.
